  • Esse vídeo é lindo. Fofo♥

  • where is the place.?

  • Somebody had posted previously Gladsaxe Denmark. If you search under goog maps for the city, the spot is close to the middle of the map. It is pretty obvious due to the size and configuration of the buildings. I have not been able to drill down to the exact spot however, which looks like the edge of a surface parking lot?

  • Jesus Christ I am the biggest Beatles fan, and I rarely hear cover's I prefer to the Lads but this is special - The Intro and ending , the pleading- "Please help me", impressive.

  • I love both versions, but this is one of the best covers when completely changing the style of the song.

  • Help! Support GREECE on this insidious war that accepts!

  • Rod Evans a way better singer than Gillan !!!

  • @zoomeristen You are surely off of your onion my good man. : ^ o>

  • I love this song and that hair cut

  • The song starts at 3:26.

  • Omg this is the first song that gets me deep into purple, brings back the memories of yesteryears,tq v much for this vid.

  • Rod Evans and Morrison had the most powerful voices in rock period.

  • Thanx for post this tune is pretty good. Deep Purple did a lot of popular cover songs back then. Most of their own compositions weren't all that popular altho Mandrake Root was a hit. They really hit their prime with their own material after Evans and Simper. Glover is a much better bass player than Nick ever was. Gillan just fit the direction and mold of the band at the time which is why Evans was fired. I like Rod's voice tho it is distinctive.

  • That cover was clean as fuck seems like they actually were calling out for help

  • I like this video very much! The first Deep Purple's formation. Awesome.

    Thanks.

  • Ritchie is so cool, Rod eveans as well, just so unique and still largely misunderstood genius. I mean, okay, you can try to undercut this cover's significance by comparing it to The Beatles, but when they go into that organ break, man, it's like they're opening some nuclear door to prog rock, a glimpse of ELP and things to come. Very LSD for breakfast vibe, love it.

  • Nick Dimper??? Try Simper, lol!

  • Always thought that Jon Lord born old.

  • I love this former line-up.

  • increible

  • I loved the Nick Simper/Rod Evans Purple best of all....those first two albums are outstanding.

  • @222Loobylou

Deep Purple went on to great things but they never topped their first three albums.

Nick Simper and Rod Evans were amazing

  • jesus help me

  • Funny, Blackmore looks a lot like Jimmy Page from the same period. Must be the sideburns.

  • @RabbitsWedding to be honest i think blackmore has looked like page in all periods, espcially in the early 90s

  • Lennon wrote it as a slow song. The record producers thought it sounded better fast.

  • that's the way you cover a song. you play your own way and you make the song your own!

  • Wow... I haven't seen this since.... since.... shit, I think I've never seen this. GREAT upload. Thanks!!!

    Michael

  • Just wow! =')

  • Bands from england and this era were heavily influenced by "Vanilla Fudge". The keyboard/guitar line up was especially a focus. This song doesn't lend itself well to the tempo, an australian singer did a version some years ago, and it wasn't good...maybe it's a singers thing, wanting to sound like Lennon and McCartney.

  • @commentnotapproved1 The Australian singer was John Farnham... A great version too.

  • @85centsforasoda To use some Australian slang, it was "fucking ratshit".

  • Ok, But sounds like two diferent songs, one is a beat from 1965 and the other is a blues version from 1968. Cant compare. All i can say is BEATLES!

  • long live the Beatles& Deep Purple!

  • ОХУЕТЬЬЬЬЬЬЬЬЬЬЬЬЬЬЬЬ . FROM RUSSIAN

  • FAKE LOL

  • MG orgasm how cute they ar o.O! hahaha lucky me im not gay!

  • wow!

  • This shows how The Beatles could be improved.

God I wish MRK1 Purple lived on.

Rod Evans and Nick Simper were the shit. In a good way. God Bless them!

  • inregistrare document cu prima formula ce a luat numele deep purple! thanks!

  • omg, ritchie looks sooooo sweet in this gear! this is a rare clip indeed...thank u for posting it!

  • Must have been before puberty!

  • it is a deep human version of the song help - where is the problem ?

or is deep feelin a criminality today ?

  • COMPARTO. MEJOR QUE LA VERISON ORIGINAL

  • Forward to 3:20 because Jon Lord is the only interesting bit on this video.

  • Sheldon Cooper on guitar.

  • Sorry, the Bassman´s called Nick Simper.

  • @MrOpodeldok Maybe the man made a typin' mistake - S is beside the D letter on the keyborad. :)

  • @JOHNNYNSROCK Yup that's what I thought too, why he hasn't fixed it in a year and a half is beyond me LOL

  • Rod Evans had one of the best voices in the Sixties!

  • simply amazing track , great jon lord keyboards

  • who are those ppl? O.o

i don't recognize any of them

  • @ghosterdude Ok, if you don't know Purple, you don't know them. Richie B lackmore on guitar, Ian Paice on drums and on keyboars Jon Lord.

  • @OttoL i know deep purple, and that's the problem: they are unrecognisable.

  • This version is the very best than Beatles... ^^

  • Yes, they are young but Lord...:D

  • IMPRESIONANTE

  • I'ts much, much better than original.

    Congratulations on THIS VIdeo,

I can see RITHIE and ROD young !!!

  • Ritchie was quite cute back then

  • BILLY!

  • Hello Billy.

  • Wow, Ritchie with a 335! I've never seen that.

  • Ritchie Blackmore's hair style is great:)))))

  • where can i find tabs for this version?

  • Deep purple son la neta y el mark 2 simplemente el mejor,,pero no comparen esta versión con The Beatles porque es mucho mejor hlep con Beatles.

  • WTF, this version sucks :S

  • Thanks so much for posting this extremely rare footage..

  • hey man - it is so great !

    TNX !!!

  • It's nice Simper my friend not Dimper.

  • Comment removed

  • @PatrioticAmerican15 Very true my man, an honest mistake.

  • I like Mandrake Root and a couple of other songs from this era, but both DP Mark II and Captain Beyond were far greater for me.

  • great Footage fro, 1968. This version is not really compareable to the Original one from the beatles. Love both of it :-D

  • MARK1 RULES!!!!!

  • Rod Evans is the best singer ever.

  • just no ha deep purple, why?

  • @Razalduria actually the beatles' version is more desperate. The reason why it's rushed is because of lennon's very own insecurity and he did not want to show any sign of weakness.

  • This song reminds me allot of I'm Not Okay by My Chemical Romance, except the lyrics focus on the whole past, not just one event.

  • Excellent video! One of the most original interpretations of Beatles that I ever seen!

  • rare!!!! very good!! the hair of justin bieber on ritcihe blackmore kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Playmobil band

  • who's the singer?

  • @TheStevemcfall

    Rod Evans

  • Didn't even know a video performance of this one existed! Great one! Personally, I think that this cover version is by far better interpreting the desire for help than the original Beatles one (they're rushing through that song, I think)... This is almost the same with "With a little help from my friends" - the Beatles feeling-less, rushing through the song, while Joe Cocker more puts it on the desperation side... Just y opinion... love both versions of every song... ;)

  • I'm not sure, Like the Moody blues in 1965.

The way they dressed with proper clothes.

As opposed to somebody who liked Skiffle?

  • This is when Deep Purple were Mods, Right?

  • @rothsuede What do you mean by ''Mods''?

  • where is from I cannot find this dvd

  • 0:10-0:54 & 4:28-5:21 = beautiful

  • ponderous

  • John actually intended the song to be slower. But then he was forced to make it faster to make it sound more pop-ish

  • a very lyrical version of this song. absolutely brilliant.

  • I miss Rod Evans and his soulful voice!

  • @jennins1990 I know, he was the best!

  • El cover de los beatles brutal...

  • Me parecen muy buenos

  • This is music.

  • This is like crying, but when Beatles sing it, it is sounds very happy !

  • @miaa981 yeeahh, the beatles song is more happy, it's like a funny help, this is a very sickness "help"

  • YEAAA FAVORITE BALADE SUPER ! where is place?

  • @bond00777777 Gladsaxe, Denmark buddy

  • Comment removed

  • Deep "addiction" Purple....!

  • Deep Purple is the BEST band ever!!

  • john lennon has gone on record saying that he wishes he recorded help! like this. and yes, i prefer this version.

  • I'm sorry baby, but this version is a lot better than the origianal by the Beatles.

    The Deep is Purple !

    The Purple is Deep !

  • @bitch21witch No,it isn't

  • @bitch21witch

I think that you should not compare these two performances, because they are completely different quality. An original is a substantial rock work, and it is a ballad, so comparing them is out of place, besides the original had a bitter overtone resulting from private sending John and there are genuine emotions expressed in it, and a person doing this cover not perhaps to know what he is singing about.

  • @bitch21witch

Personally I think that originals are ruling and nobody should alter them, but express it music and oneself in own numbers. But I am not saying that this execution is poor, is pretty, but nothing apart from that.

  • @bitch21witch : Right! That's why it was such a big hit. Not! A little too slow for my taste.

  • @bitch21witch Amen brother.

  • @bitch21witch Nope - it's not

  • @bitch21witch maybe is not better than the original but.... is the best cover i ever heard :D

  • There is no way this version is better than the original simply because The Beatles' version of "Help!" is very probably one of the best songs they have, not to mention one of the best vocal performances ever by Lennon. It's impossible to beat that one.

  • Does anyone know the location where they filmed this video? Just curious, it seems that setting up a rock band on some rooftop or other similar public place was en vogue in the 1968-1969 time. Great cover to a great song!

  • @palapescada

it was filmed in Gladsaxe, Denmark buddy

  • @ElwoodBlackmore thanks

  • This is awesome! this version is even better than the Original! I can't wait seeing Deep purple in Montreux this year.

  • @TheSGTNicolai Please, don't exaggerate...

  • @jgg87

do I? Do you like the beatles-version better? Of course I like them both, and the beatles are my favourite band, but this version is Kind of touching what I hardly can say from the Original, the original is just rocking, great, but not that Touching. What do you think?

  • se cree mejor de lo que es

  • cool...

  • Rod Evans ! Loved him in Captain Beyond.

  • @bowiemott Mee too. They were one of those bands that totally rocked and got no love.

  • Better than the original.

  • Brutal.

  • Rod Evans! Retired living on the Oregon coast. What a great vocalist.

  • Wonderful version from one of my favorite bands doing a cover of another one of my favorite band...

  • The great mr Blackmore on guitar. I like Mark 2. This cover isn't bad at all.

  • stupenda caxxo.

  • I like it.

  • Trying hard at this point to be the next Vanilla Fudge.

  • I saw Deep Purple in a local club in 1968. I was in the front row with my feet proped up on the stage. Ritchie Blackmore was right in front of me, maybe 4 feet away. I remember thinking "He's very good".

  • Even more boring than the original.

  • @RollingOrmond this is how john wanted it to sound

  • @Rocker9514 John had problems.

  • @Rocker9514 If he wanted to sound like this, he would just start crying and singing Help! He was proud to Beatles version and he said that Help! is one of songs that he love the most.

  • @miaa981 yeah it was one of his favorites but he always wished that the tempo would be slowed down because he said they did it too fast trying to be more commercial

  • Comment removed

  • @Rocker9514 i'm glad john took advice from whomever, paul or george martin i imagine, cuz at this tempo it really just drags.. for a moment wnen the drums come in it sounds a little bluesy/funky, but the groove just aint there. quite a yawner in the end. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • This is AWESOME, where was it filmed?

  • @MrMegaFredzeppelin

    Awesome indeed-what a great vocalist.

  • @onthemoveagain Thats Rod Evans,he was realy good. Not sure why he left.We opened for them in 68/69 in Torrance Ca at a place called the Bank aka Blue Law.

  • @koolbossjock The Bank was a great venue. Saw many bands there. Became a good friends of Bob Hite.

Alpine Village just down the road now........................

  • @sfaster Oh Sht!!! Alpine village, what a great place. We used to go there every sunday and drink pitchers of Dortmunder dark and lite mixed then dance with the polka band.Is it still there?

  • @koolbossjock Still there and serving good old Dortmunder. Each year during Octoberfest, there is

celebrations with Polka Band, beer and wild women throughout the month of October.

Type in Alpine Village Ocoberfest on youtube and take a look........................cheers

  • @sfaster WOW!! Thats great to hear. Thanks for the info.I am up in Sacramento but hope to get there someday soon.

  • Beatles eat your hearts out!

Its ashame people think Smoke On The Water was purples greatest song.

A good 60% of everything else they did was better than Smoke On The Water.

  • @oberfour1

True, Child in Time is one of the best songs i've heard in my life.

  • where is rod evans

    /

  • only a band like Deep Purple can do justice to the Beatles !

  • Where did you find this? I guess the promo video was made for Help and not Hush since I think the label was trying to push this song in the UK.

  • Wau :-O How old are they? :D

  • Rod Evans voice may only be matched by Jim Morrison. Damn power voice.

  • It's not the best thing I've ever heard but it's not the worse either.

  • Deep Purple had a lot of players through the years, where can we find a list of all whom have played for or with them. I think these were their best years.

  • I like this more than the original by Beatles

  • why's this song not that popular in deep purple media.

  • i don't like it, Beatle music is not open to interpretation, this kind of stuff is just wrong!

  • @userboy6

that pyramids built 3k years ago, doesnt mean that ppl didnt build later constructions equal or more impressive to these. that s music. beatles gave the first steps, some other... followed these steps and made even longer "footage". :)

  • @userboy6

ooh, and if that helps you, john lenon himself said when he heard this version , that was the way they should do it...the slow one. so much rare thing for beatles to listen other's group music and make comments..and even admire them.

  • @userboy6 if your seriously think that, then your horribly wrong, listen to straw berry fields forever, or nowhere man, Interpret that

  • I love this version...

  • JOn Lord at that time was slim and with twisted fingers, now he is wide chested, it must be the Spanish food of Menorca!

  • Dimper. Fimper. Kimper. Bimper ? NO, SIMPER.

  • Rod Evans> Captain Beyond

  • que quien es? es deep purple y la rola es de Lennon.
