I went to the tate and put up a picture i drew in a few minutes there. I went there three weeks ago it was still there. Yes I am that good at drawing art. I have made videos my art is incredible. I did modify a few other pics. But it is still impressive.
I went there ^^ Oh that partz now changed into Dominique Gonzalez Forester Turbaine Hall now. It jsut has a big screen, bunk bedz and bookz. But itz great i had to do a course for 2 dayz on it at tate modern =]
thts a pretty cool idea. and its not like your being forced to listen. haha, and as sad as i am to do so, i must agree with mitchener27. but no worries, hopefully that'll soon change.
But I've always heard, "Take it (art) for what it is." Someone did something different and it's really cool. Just take it. If you don't like it, don't go there.
I quite agree that there is no 'correct' way to experience a work of art. What annoys me is the idea that we need some sort of intermediary in order to engage a work of art. Curators seem endlessly busy these days with all kinds of novelties when in fact the art is nearly always better served by simply being hung on the walls and illuminated properly. As for rock music as 'footnotes' - give me a break! It's simply another cheap distraction that we don't need.
The very last thing I want to do when contemplating a work of art is stick headphones on my head and listen to some rock band. Why can't the museum promote the profoundly moving experiences to be had looking at good art rather than trying to pander to the other interests of the audience?
You seem to suggest there is a 'correct' way to experience a work of art. Why cannot a piece of art be footnoted by music? Hundreds of exhibitions and installations have had music composed for them in a wealth of styles. It would be foolish to let the presence of a set of headphones of all things - it is not as though the music is anything other than an opt-in element - ruin your "profoundly moving experiences".
such a good idea....people need to treat art the same way they treat music.

Artists... they're all the same.
