I'm glad I found this. the founding fathers are rolling in their graves at the shame us freemen endure every day at the hands of the mega rich who figured out how to bend this system of freedom to their will and brainwashed everyone into willful slavery. Music is a very powerful tool, the commercials on TV are filled with music to make you feel entertained and complacent. Songs like these were made to do the opposite, to stir people from their dreams and inspire them to stand up for themselves.
I just had to hear you again this morning to motivate me.........just before I plunge into reading the News. A ghastly business, reading the News these days.
@fate4204 It is something else. It's so contemporary, it's blinding! Thanks for the comment. I felt like I was marching with 'em when singing it. Lol.
@fate4204 A lot? I wanted to balance out what I thought people would actually listen to and not get tired of. For study and 100% accuracy, no and especially with me singing, Lol. There is a chorus after every verse. If it has sparked interest, this is fantastic! :-) I expect my version of the music is off too. It took me a while to learn it. Thanks for posting. Have fun. :-)
I got inspired by this thing. It was the very first protest song in this country. Pretty cool actually since we are about to go thru the same thing again. I had to learn the whole piano part. I play by ear. It was a process but I'm glad you found a use for it. Some purists don't like that I rewrote a couple lines. Oh well. Good luck to you. Thanks for the comment.
written by John Dickinson in 1768 as a response to the Declaratory Laws and Townshend Taxes. Dickinson titled the work, "The Liberty Song," and its words--written to be sung to the tune "Hearts of Oak,"
Wonderful and appropriate tribute. It's time we have Americans write music and leave behind the British :-) to which you, Steve Dore have already contributed so meaningfully.

Imo, "The Liberty song" captures the spirit of America more than the "star spangled banner", now more than ever.

You have a very good voice.

Awesome! We need this and others like it to be sung at protests.

Somehow I feel this would have been a better national anthem. Not that I don't like the star spangled banner!

Then join hand in hand brave Americans all,
by uniting we stand, by dividing we fall!
So righteous our cause, let us heed freedom's call,
and the voice of our Founders as heard thru Ron Paul!

I like it :-) Our rights are written in stone, but the lyrics a song should be a little stretchable to include modern day patriots!

VERSE 5: END:
Chorus:
In Freedom we're born and in freedom we'll live,
Our purses are ready, Steady, friends, steady,
Not as slaves, but as freemen our money we'll give.

It is best for people to KNOW the REAL WORDS of this Founders Song, as to CHANGE THE WORDS is MISLEADING.
I present here, the ORIGONAL WORDS to this HISTORIC SONG, for ALL to see and hear.
God Bless the REPUBLIC of the United States of America.
God Speed,

VERSE 4:
Then join hand in hand, brave Americans all,
By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall;
In so righteous a cause let us hope to succeed,
For heaven approves of each generous deed.
Chorus:
In Freedom we're born and in freedom we'll live,
Our purses are ready, Steady, friends, steady,
Not as slaves, but as freemen our money we'll give.

VERSE 3:
The tree their own hands had to Liberty rear'd,
They lived to behold growing strong and revered;
With transport they cried, now our wishes we gain,
For our children shall gather the fruits of our pain.
Chorus:
In Freedom we're born and in freedom we'll live,
Our purses are ready, Steady, friends, steady,
Not as slaves, but as freemen our money we'll give.

VERSE 1:
Come, join hand in hand, brave Americans all,
And rouse your bold hearts at fair Liberty's call;
No tyrannous acts shall suppress your just claim,
Or stain with dishonor America's name.
Chorus:
In Freedom we're born and in freedom we'll live,
Our purses are ready, Steady, friends, steady,
Not as slaves, but as freemen our money we'll give.

VERSE 2:
Our worthy forefathers, let's give them a cheer,
To climates unknown did courageously steer;
Thro' oceans to deserts for freedom they came,
And dying, bequeath'd us their freedom and fame.
Chorus:
In Freedom we're born and in freedom we'll live,
Our purses are ready, Steady, friends, steady,
Not as slaves, but as freemen our money we'll give.
