  • I would vote for him to catch dogs,Thx1138d someone has to catch oBaMa.

On a lighter note....... Great song and a real fine job

  • I wouldn't vote for Ron Paul for dogcatcher

  • @Thx1138d Lol, neither would I.

  • LIBERTY!!! Ron Paul for President!!!!! HUZZAH!!!

  • You sound like Kenny Rogers.

  • I'm glad I found this. the founding fathers are rolling in their graves at the shame us freemen endure every day at the hands of the mega rich who figured out how to bend this system of freedom to their will and brainwashed everyone into willful slavery. Music is a very powerful tool, the commercials on TV are filled with music to make you feel entertained and complacent. Songs like these were made to do the opposite, to stir people from their dreams and inspire them to stand up for themselves.

  • Awesome! First time hearing this song and it's a great song! "United we stand, divided we fall!" RON PAUL 2012!! We need you now more then ever!!

  • I just had to hear you again this morning to motivate me.........just before I plunge into reading the News. A ghastly business, reading the News these days.

  • great intro!!! you finished it just on time to come in haha

  • this is a good one my friend In Liberty

  • I SUPPORT RON PAUL TOO!!!

    RON PAUL 2012!!!

  • I have to study this in our literature class. The lyrics are brilliant!

  • @fate4204 It is something else. It's so contemporary, it's blinding! Thanks for the comment. I felt like I was marching with 'em when singing it. Lol.

  • @RonPaulSongs A lot of verses are missing though!.. I'm glad this is on youtube though! :)

  • @fate4204 A lot? I wanted to balance out what I thought people would actually listen to and not get tired of. For study and 100% accuracy, no and especially with me singing, Lol. There is a chorus after every verse. If it has sparked interest, this is fantastic! :-) I expect my version of the music is off too. It took me a while to learn it. Thanks for posting. Have fun. :-)

  • Imo, "The Liberty song" captures the spirit of America more than the "star spangled banner", now more than ever.

  • You have a very good voice.

  • Awesome! We need this and others like it to be sung at protests.

  • well the star spangled banner is shorter

  • Somehow I feel this would have been a better national anthem. Not that I don't like the star spangled banner!

  • Then join hand in hand brave Americans all,

by uniting we stand, by dividing we fall!

So righteous our cause, let us heed freedom's call,

and the voice of our Founders as heard thru Ron Paul!

  • I like it :-) Our rights are written in stone, but the lyrics a song should be a little stretchable to include modern day patriots!

  • omg its soo wierd in soc stu class we actually had to listen to this song and write about it! im surprised i found the song..

  • I got inspired by this thing. It was the very first protest song in this country. Pretty cool actually since we are about to go thru the same thing again. I had to learn the whole piano part. I play by ear. It was a process but I'm glad you found a use for it. Some purists don't like that I rewrote a couple lines. Oh well. Good luck to you. Thanks for the comment.

  • VERSE 5: END:

    Chorus:

In Freedom we're born and in freedom we'll live,

Our purses are ready, Steady, friends, steady,

Not as slaves, but as freemen our money we'll give.

  • It is best for people to KNOW the REAL WORDS of this Founders Song, as to CHANGE THE WORDS is MISLEADING.

I present here, the ORIGONAL WORDS to this HISTORIC SONG, for ALL to see and hear.

God Bless the REPUBLIC of the United States of America.

    God Speed,

    Commander General

    True Sons of Liberty

  • VERSE 3:

The tree their own hands had to Liberty rear'd,

    They lived to behold growing strong and revered;

With transport they cried, now our wishes we gain,

For our children shall gather the fruits of our pain.

    Chorus:

In Freedom we're born and in freedom we'll live,

Our purses are ready, Steady, friends, steady,

Not as slaves, but as freemen our money we'll give.

  • written by John Dickinson in 1768 as a response to the Declaratory Laws and Townshend Taxes. Dickinson titled the work, "The Liberty Song," and its words--written to be sung to the tune "Hearts of Oak,"

  • The Liberty Song

(to the tune of Hearts of Oak)

  • VERSE 1:

Come, join hand in hand, brave Americans all,

    And rouse your bold hearts at fair Liberty's call;

No tyrannous acts shall suppress your just claim,

Or stain with dishonor America's name.

    Chorus:

In Freedom we're born and in freedom we'll live,

Our purses are ready, Steady, friends, steady,

Not as slaves, but as freemen our money we'll give.

  • VERSE 2:

Our worthy forefathers, let's give them a cheer,

    To climates unknown did courageously steer;

Thro' oceans to deserts for freedom they came,

And dying, bequeath'd us their freedom and fame.

    Chorus:

In Freedom we're born and in freedom we'll live,

Our purses are ready, Steady, friends, steady,

Not as slaves, but as freemen our money we'll give.

  • Oh, Steve Dore, that was very good!

  • Nice!

  • Wonderful and appropriate tribute. It's time we have Americans write music and leave behind the British :-) to which you, Steve Dore have already contributed so meaningfully.

    Thank you!

  • You do know that the music is British? The words are American though- obviously!

  • Ok, *sigh*

Wonderful and appropriate tribute. It's time we have Americans write lyrics and leave behind the British :-) to which you, Steve Dore have already contributed so meaningfully.
