Are you running any kind of internal dampening on the bass drum in this video? I love the sound you are getting out of your kick! Also, is it a clear or coated PS3 that your using?
Ok, I've been asked to do another foot technique vid by many but if you check out the one I have up now, you may see the action closer up. For the most part, the slide technique is similar to throwing a stone and skipping it on the water but you're skipping on the pedal instead. I hope this helps a little.
you can really see and hear alot of influence from Bonham.....great playing man.....love your ascending and descending rolls.....i learned how to do them by messing around at home....they're alot of fun once you perfect them
You are the consumate professional. A genuine talent. A really fine musician. You're playing shows versatility, composition, clarity, grand natural abilty, speed, chops, clarity, mastery of the kit and simple raw ability. What a pleasre to watch you play. I'm a fan.
I see you put a Powerstroke 3 back on, which is the same weight as an Ambassador, but with a built-in muffle ring.
Did you get the PS3 in Coated or Smooth White?
I've been toying with the idea of the traditional Bonham setup with a Coated Emperor w/felt and a Smooth White Ambassador w/felt on the front. However, I am liking the sound of the PS3 on the batter with the Smooth White w/felt on the front you have now!
Coated but I have to say that the coated single ply ambassador plays better and records better, more snap... I prefer it over the ps3. I'll be trying a coated emperor next. My reso is a stock single ply smooth ludwig head.
Amazing playing and great sound. Since this was only a sound check I don't think this matters, but I would take the position of the camera into account when panning the mics. Those extreme tom pans are not really necessary when everything is visually very close and tight.
For looks get the 10x14" but for sound I find my 9x12" tom the best. I have a 10x13" also but I find the 12" to have a fuller, bigger sound than both the 13" or the 14".
@GrooveDrummin thats it? only office divider? because i also saw it while carter beauford/dennis chambers (dont really remember which one) and jewel drummer (woodstock 99). is it the same thing like yours?
Yeah, I tried something different by using a 16 bit wav sound track and I guess that was the problem because when I searched the youtube help section I found out they recommend an mp3 audio track, which is how I've done all the other vids, now including this one as well. Thanks!
you absolute ****** haha that was damn tight. you showed your skill and even with the extra kick you kept a groove. you get a lot i know, but well bloody done man :)

for snare drum... what is a good way to practice introducing double stroke/buzz rolls into march patterns?
purphanz 2 years ago
practice beginning the double stroke with your left. It's kinda like a kick start when going into anything.
