  • @ralia30 im with you on that. There pronunciation is just plan wrong and it sounds like a fat man rolling down a hill...................... just horrible.

  • it was helpful for me...thanx !

  • your pronounciation is horrible!you americans stop killing the greek language!

  • @ralia30 xD then greek people must make their own alphabets with their own pronunciation before them

  • totally mispronounced...fail.

  • @tat2sickboy You can't even use proper grammar in a post. That's a far bigger fail. You are simply a little whiny ass loser.

  • I don't understand one thing though, isn't it significantly easier to pronounce the letters as they really are, instead of this anglo-saxon adaptation? For instance :

    φ = fee, not feye

    χ = he, not khai

    τ = tuff, not tau

    etc etc

  • @VonManavis most people in america have decided to pronounce it like she did in the video though. that's how we've grown up with it, and those of who use it the greek community of fraternities/sororities know it as this, so it's kind of too late to switch pronunciations.

  • This is super helpful ! Thanks !

  • thumbs up for greek mythology

  • my big taught me how to remember the symbols!!

    A-B- Gamma, Delta

    (EZ-HO)

    (I-KAM)

    (NEON)

    (PETY)

    (OXY,omega)

really helped me once you make them english letters :)

  • @chicago1990 I don't understand. May you please explain. Maybe this will help the new pledge class if you explain.

  • So helpful! thank youu!

  • greek life is awesome.

  • pledges like this

  • pi is pronounced p in greek and chi is pronounced key and iota is pronounced yaota i dont know if this helps...

  • @Nerdsrule3567 For sororities we say the letter a little differently.

  • @morgw2006 in greek that is how it is pronounced

  • @Nerdsrule3567 I understand. But what I am saying is don't put down ppl for the way that they say them because that is how it is said in the sorities

  • @morgw2006 alright no need for an attitude

  • Thanks for the quick and good video. Sorry about there being so many dicks on the net that would give you a ration of crap over it. Sadly, that's just how ssad some people's lives are.

  • did u just wasted 37 seconds of my life??? :@@@

  • XD U needs practice

  • eleos !!!!!!!!

  • u got most letters wrong but i understand that. greek language is difficult. even in pronunciation

  • TSM.

  • Um?

  • hahahahahahahahaahhhahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhaahhaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahhahahahahahaahahhahahahahaha you need Greek lessons immediately

  • no no no

  • learn to pronounce the letters properly first!

  • I have the greek pronunciation on my channel

  • This definately doesnt sound like the Greek alphabet...

Learn Greek: Lesson 1 by linaaap

  • Anyone notice the Greek alphabet is actually starting to mix into our lives?

Examples: Alpha and Beta from games, theta and omega in math trig, phi as the golden ratio 1.618, pi as pi 3.1416, and Omega in Star Trek or something

  • @simpsfutur

because Greek is something like the scientific language.I mean you may check that the vast majority of words in astronomy, medical and other scienses have greek origins like geometry, hipocrisy, mathematics etc.

  • @CHRISTOKONI You know what I think? We can't use the normal alphabet because people get confused whether it's the symbol or the letter, we didn't want to use words, we are too lazy to make new symbols, so we 'borrow' letters.

To think some day we might need to remember 50 capital letters and 50 small letters...ugh!

  • @simpsfutur

Seems like you've just realized that Greek symbols are a part of our lives. Its not something that's "starting", its something that you've just now noticed. They're called Greek symbols because the Greeks invented them, meaning they've been around for a looooooong time. You'll notice how prevelent they are when you get to college.

  • bad pronounced

  • why all English speaking people say Gamma and Delta as british soynds?

G in Gamma is shame sound like wh in why, when

D in Delta is like th in they, then

so better the sounds, then is easy,

like Delta is pronounced as thelta (th as in they)

  • @iapetoc6

The pronunciation of the words is important, why?

  • @drche420 hahaha well the english alphabet a = ei b = vi c = gi d = thi e = e f = ep g = qu would like that? the pronounsation if correct makes less the non vowels and shorts time of letters Delta as D is Ntelta but as Δelta less one N now b =mp not v inenglish gamma g = nnk+ama but Γαμμα whamma D = nt but Δ = th as in the minus n so only in Beta Gamma Delta english put 3 more sounds its like a = nei b = bin c = cik , i spell english alphabet now?
  • @iapetoc6

You're going to have to form a coherent paragraph, complete with words and grammar. Until then, I'm not going to bother deciphering your banter.

  • thanks!! i had to memorize the alphabet for phsyics class haha. this helped so much! and i had fun singing it lol...dont judge haha

  • not the prounonciation, but they are the names. and i realized how different the names are read o_o;; greek is really interesting =3=;; now do you know the difference the current greek and the koine greek? i needa use koine greek to read the new testment of the bible ;o

  • @thorahn96 in my opinion you should learn first the current greek language. Koine is not used now, it is something between modern greek and ancient greek. However, they use koine ("old greek") in the bible, i've never seen a bible in modern greek, they probably want to keep the "tradition".Modern greek are simplier and more easy (but still difficult) than "old greek".It's better to learn modern greek first and then try to learn the bible language, unless you are only interested in the bible

  • @aggelospanatha yes but modern greek miss grammar like dotike, and many meanings are different,

instead ancient greek especially attic is much easier to learn due to more Indoeuropean than modern,

  • @iapetoc6 modern greek is much simplier (as you mentioned it misses dotike) and the other clauses are more simple so its easier to learn

  • @aggelospanatha thank you for your info ;o

  • Hahahahahah omfg this is so bad.... everything is so wrong... Αχ ρε οι ξένοι που δεν ξέρουν τίποτα! χαχαχαχαχα

  • Horrible Get Some Lessons ... Oh Wait You've Already Have 10 Years Of Schooling...........NOT!

  • i honestly hate you and everything that you've ever done with your life

  • OMG GIVE IT A BREAK ALREADY YALL ACTING LIKE IT HAS TO BE PERFECT NOBODY GIVES A FUCK WHAT THE GREEKS THINK IF YALL SO EAGER TO MAKE US PRONOUNCE IT RITE THEN MAKE A VIDEO OR SHUT THE HELL UP UUUGGGHHHH I CANT STAND WHEN PPL ACT LIKE THAT...MA'AM I THOUGHT THIS WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND NOW I KNOW THE CORRECT ORDER OF THE LETTERS THANKS ALOT

  • Wow people calm yourselves. Obviously for a Greek Organization not the real Greek Language. most initiation tests require you to know it and just so you know, this helps me remember it. Thank you VERY much.

  • its pronounced yoopsilon retardsssssss

  • Nono... all wrong... completely...

  • I am Greek and I am so happy that people sing our alphabet :D I thought that people didn't like our language because it is 'difficult' ^^

  • @KoiliForEver η καλυτερη του κοσμου ειναι!! :P

  • @xxphoebes4lifexx ennoeite :D

  • Love it!!!!!!

  • pronunciation FAIL.....nice try though :)im thankful

  • awesome, but now its stuck in my head... ahhh cant get it out... good voice and song though:)

  • @pepsyboo brake up your head and share it!

  • @IOANNIS2 wouldn't that hurt?

  • @pepsyboo its an expresion!!! u don't know it?

  • @IOANNIS2 umm no idk it, but it sounds like u want my head to fall apart... its so confuzzling

  • ξεκολλάτε ρε δε φτάνει που έστω πάνε να μάθουν τα γράμματα

  • The pronunciation is very poor. If you pronounced the letters correctly, this song would be useful, but at this moment it's not adequate. All you need to do is correct the pronunciation of several letters. Good luck!

  • To the people who are Greek and bashing this: please, leave DCProductions2 alone, no one cares and honestly you sound like jerks who need to feel good about themselves by bringing others down. I'm joining a sorority and need to remember the order of the letters. This song is really helpful for that. If i decide to learn Greek in the future, I'll work on my accent. Now please, shut up.

  • The people commenting and bitching like "WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO LEARN THE GREEK ALPHABET WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO IMPRESS YOU HAVE IT WRONNGGGGG" have clearly never been exposed to a college or university of any size. It's for greek organizations. Fraternities and sororities.

  • @lhoffman630 MAYBE it would be a good idea for "greek organizations" in COLLEGES, to actually be able to pronounce properly? lol.. that only shows sucky education to me

  • @ElizaLazarou I'm not disputing that they should be able to pronounce it; I was only responding to the people saying it was "showing off" by knowing or learning it.

  • ^_^ This is classical greek, not modern greek anyways. IE. Modern greek pronounciation of beta, is vita

  • oh my gosh! thanks! this was really helpful!! and catchy!

  • very helpful thanks

  • Well u helped me a lot. Thx!

  • lol....so bad accent!greeks gonna not understand you :P

  • i have a greek grammar book and there are 3 accent's ive found in it so far.

    Acute-is a raise in tone

    Grave-is a low pitched voice

Circumflex-is a grave and acute accent in one

  • wow why is everyone being so harsh?! i know what you're trying to do here and it was actually a pretty cute song haha--people need to back off

  • Thank you so much for this! I'm pledging and this is helping me learn the alphabet quickly. : )

  • Well I find this video helpful since I'm going into a greek organization. Why don't you all "professionally speaking" Greeks make videos on how to pronounce them or whatever and stop trash talking this one. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all. :-)

  • @moni7889 Hi, I agree with you at that it doesn't seem apropriate to make corrections, but most of those ppl are doing it 'cos they want to help foreign speakers to learn the letters correctly...

  • @moni7889 also, there is a lesson from a native greek which is correct. Try it!

    search Learn Greek:Lesson 1

  • mori kariola giota oxi i fuck you bich mounopano

  • GUYS.. THAT S NOT GREEK!! IF ANYONE WANTS TO LEARN THE GREEK ALPHABET JUST TELL ME AND I WILL TEACH YOU IT.. BUT IT S NOT THE GREEK ALPHABET! GOD.. IT S HUMILIATING!

  • i dont see what was "wrong" about it.....why would you leave a bad comment saying the video was wrong when you were the one who looked it up in the first place.....

  • @traceable97love thats because you are a complete idiot, watching a video doesn´t mean you have to like it, especially when it is horrificaly pathetic

  • @Aesk111 true....

  • guys guys . . . . . . . just shut up and leave this person alone

  • OOOOOOPSILON?? hahahahahahah

  • cute!! I'll use this for learning the alphabet

  • this is not greek at all.

  • thank you

  • Hey man, i am a greek... Thats a bullshit!!!!!!!!! They taught you wrong.. And, no offence, but whats the point of learning the greek alphabet.. Who do you want to impress?

  • @2strange1 This really has nothing to do with learning the real greek alphabet.. it's for people people joining Greek Orginazations at universities (fraternities and sororities) Doubt she's trying to impress anyone.. All of us in the greek society had to leearn it..

  • @torosax learn*

  • Most of the letters in this picture have wrong pronunciation!!! This is the true: alfa vita wh-amma the-lta ep-see-lon zita ita th-ita yota kappa lam-tha me nee xee omicron pee ro see-wh-ma taf ip-see-lon fee he psee ome-wh-a
  • I love the fact that you did this video for those who are just trying to know the Greek alphabet!!...(AND NOT TO LEARN THE LANGUAGE FOR THOSE WHO ARE HARASSING THEM!) I just want to know for my own pleasure...this was very helpful, no matter if it was said wrong or not! Thank You for the video!

  • Comment removed

  • WHAT`S THIS????????????????????are you crazy, this is NOT GREEK!!!!!!!!you must go to the psychiatr immediately!!!

  • You must have it in your DNA to learn greek... or to speak the alphabet with the right accent.

  • i like it a lot

  • oopsilon? lmao

  • i like it... i know its not meant to learn how 2 speak the language. it is for people who need to know the greek alphabet for a sorority of fraternity. they will not care how it sounds because half of them cant say it right either stop gettin so damn defensive

  • You need more exersise. You must study a lot to learn Greek.I am Greek and i grow up with this language

  • i totally agree with greek koukla atleast say the letters of the greek alphabet right.. this is horrible!

  • I am shocked and appalled

  • α=alfa β=vita γ=gama δ=delta ε=epsilon ζ=zita η=ita θ=thita ι=giota κ=kapa λ=lamda μ=mi ν=ni ξ=ksi ο=omikron π=pi ρ=ro σ=sigma τ=taf υ=ipsilon

    φ=fi χ=chi ψ=psi ω=omega

  • Sucks for you...you actually think you know greek! I'm a Greek that moved to america 8 months ago...this is not even close to how we say the letters...I laugh at this way...this is how people should learn it in science class, not if you want to speak the language I'm far deeper into the language since i even know some ancient Greek and well might i say that this is the English version of the letters? Just type in the description that it is for science class only, not linguistics, rated "like"!

  • @kkonstantinosss2 : this was not meant to be used as a way to learn the Greek language, but as a guide for members in the Greek organizations. If it's pronounced the English version, so be it.

  • @kkonstantinosss2: Also, I would like to remind you that different language sound differently around the world. I'm sure in Greece you did not pronounce the English alphabet 100% the same way as the Queen's English nor as the American-English. Hell, in fact, there is a difference between how to pronounce the letter "z" in America and the rest of the world.

  • @tiffelau168 Haha, I suck at English pronunciation! I moved in Florida like 8 months ago... In grammar I'm better than almost everyone in my school and my PLAN test said that I am above college even though I'm in 10th grade, but if i speak people rarely understand what I'm talking about

  • The names in GREEK are not that way....Y that is the capital for one similar to u but is pronounced like /i:/ like trEE.

Read them as if they were english and you'll get the real name in GREEK:

alpha, veeta, gamma, delta, eepsilon, zeeta, eeta, theeta, yohta, kappa, lamda, mee, nee, ksee, ohmeecron, pee, roh, seegma, tough, eepsilon, phee, ghee (like the consonant sound in "ugh!" plus an "ee"; this sound does not exist in english but is the one in roJo for spanish), psee and finally omehga.

  • i was just about to say thattt lol .

  • chi, psi, and omega to whoo hoo!!

  • @desp01naki this is just the shorter version some pplz learn first if u are greek u wouldnt need this video

  • dude thanks! this helped a wholeeeee lot!

  • OMG this little song is sooo helpful! Thanks sooo much!!!! :o)

  • this video is great it helped me learn in like 5min

  • Thanks for this video! I'm learning Ancient Greek at the the moment, so this alphabet song helps heaps! It's so catchy :)

    "... and omega too".

  • desp01naki, If you are greek why are you looking at a tutorial on how to learn the greek alphabet? Also work on your spelling. :)

  • This was sooooo helpful i have a test in 20 mins and this saved my life!!!!! you rock my socks!!, and as far as it correlating to the actual greek language, noone really gives a fraction of a crap, if you speak greek then have fun speaking it, us normal folks will pronounce it wrong and still have fun.

  • μα8αινουν ως δευτερη γλωσσα την ελληνικη?καλο!

  • Ok her accent is NOT bad at ALL... !!!! Excellent WORK!!!

  • im greek and and speak greek

and you sound like a weirdo

  • This is the way we pronounce them in my science and math classes when using them as symbols in equations. My professors would give me funny looks if I said "Vee-ta", "Yamma", "Thelta", "Mee", "Nee", etc. I like this video.

  • secondlife2: who cares if they use them in fraternities. it doesnt mean there right. stop acting like a smart ass

  • Its not the fact that the is "saying it without a greek accent" She's just saying the letters completely wrong. idk who taught everyone this aphabet bc it isnt greek and i hate when people say it like this. IT MAKES IT SEEM LIKE OUR TEN YEARS OF GREEK SCHOOL IS A WASTE!

  • If you had ten years of Greek school then why the hell are you watching a guide like this?

  • hahaha good point i was only curious to see what the song was

  • @DCProductions2

ha ha - excellent reply ha ha ha. love it.

  • @DCProductions2 lmao check and mate lol

  • @greekkoukla7 I know what you mean...This is the reconstructed ancient greek pronunciation...in the end, whatever works for you....Modern pronunciation is completely different

  • @greekkoukla7 well, why don't you make a video explaining how to pronounce the greek alphabet since you've had 10 years of schooling?

  • @greekkoukla7 ten years of greek school? haha what the fuck were you doing in greek school for ten years?

  • @greekkoukla7 I was schooled in Greek by my stepfather, the bastard, I didn't stop shitting blood for months.

  • @greekkoukla7 καλα ηρεμησε νομιζεις οτι ειναι ευκολο για τους ξενους να διαβασουν τα γραμματα μας? δεν μιλανε "καθαρα" οπως εμεις. Πρεπει ομως να εισαι περηφανη για τον πολιτισμο σου που τοσοι πολλοι ασχολουνται με την ιστορια μας και την γλωσσα μας οπως αυτος που ποσταρε το βιντεο

  • @greekkoukla7 Lol hope im not the first one to tell you this.... but it was a waste .. it by no means just seems like one

  • If you wanna speak greek, do it the greek way! Don't upload this video like you know greek. This is really funny but NO GREEK! Sorry...

  • hes posting it to help people learn the letters you stupid peice of shit. i just joined a fraternity and to get in you have to recite the letters and write them in greek

  • This is not how the Greek alphabet is pronounsed, SORY! Who told you that this is the right way? I am GREEK you know!, I KNOW BETTER! And you also souldn't call me names!!

  • Comment removed

  • ....who cares if its greek pronounciation? greek letters are pronounced differently in america and they use them in fraternities. people dont care about learning how to speak greek!!!

  • @secondlife2

If you learn to speak Hellenic(Greek) u can find the most well paid jod Especially in Europe... Greek is a language that trains your mind and make you Intelligent ... and help your breathing system.... thats an official survey from Chambridge University!!! Greek are not only Elite ... everybody who is interested can Learn it!!

  • @secondlife2 i agree. ignorance is happiness. but it would be better if this video it wasn't connected with a country's alphabet at all i suppose. Just say that's the allaboornezeeka's alphabet for example and everyone would be happy.

  • i think this is a great song to learn greek but it gets in your head and you cant get it out

  • This is a great way of leaarning. Because of your video i got 144 pointws of extra credit! thank you so much =)

  • this is bullshit man!!!!!

first go learn your own alfabet or learn the greek one in a good way with a greek accent i can speak greek as greek people do and english as english with an english accent you english people always turn everythink into english

IF YOU WANT TO LEARN GREEK DO IT AS GREEK PEOPLE DO

  • youre a friggen idiot. this is not speaking greek, this is learning the alphabet for greek life organizations. they clearly have no intentions of learning greek. stop using youtube to try and brag about yourself knowing another language.

  • @flaggmcnasty s0.. this is NOT the greek alphabet for greek life organizations... this a brand new alphabet created just for names. Honestly it has no connection with the modern or the ancient greek accent.

It haven't any interest at all, but for anyone who would like to see the correct accent this here's a link watch?v=GNbkI2kb1NE

  • @flaggmcnasty I dont think she meant it that way!!! Get off her back!!! But you may be right about one thing, it is for someone like me who is interested in knowing the alphabet so i can be apart of a Greek organization! So yes it is! Leave her alone please and let her be with her video, other people like it!

  • @flaggmcnasty If you read clearly it does'nt Say Greek Words... it says Greek Alphabet Song... Sorry i had to point that out to ya

  • @flaggmcnasty maybe some people already know the language and want to c other people mess up. BRACCAS MEAS VASCAMINI!

  • You Have No Idea How To Speak Greek !! i can speack it unlike you and that sonds nothing like greek !!

  • these comments are wack! thanks for the video! it will help if i pledge!

  • this is University stuff??? this is not Greek! I mean the letters seen are indeed Greek but the pronounciation is not! Most of the letters' names are wrong! For instance, it's not "EYE-OH-TAH" it is "YOH-TAH"! It's not "MEW" and "NEW" it's "MEE" and "NEE"! it's funny though

  • ok seriously this is for University greek organizations... as in sororities and fraternities.... who cares if she sounds greek?! this is basically the song we learned in new member meetings... lay off!

  • apparently u kno how to speak greek..

u have such an english accent

  • alpha beta gamma delta epsilon zeta theta iota kappa lamba mu nu zi omicron pi rho sigma tau upsilon phi chi psy andd omega too

  • whats that tune to the song?? lol

  • no good preffer....and some mistakes too

  • ALPHABET=ΑΛΦΑΒΗΤΑ in greek...most of the english words came from the greek so its not so dificult to learn it..

  • I'm not concerned with accent. This video is for those entering Greek organizations who need to learn the alphabet. Their future brothers and sisters will not care about pronunciation.

  • @DCProductions2

What pisses me off about that explanation is that this alphabet means nothing aside from the ability to read random letters poorly. This is the alphabet through which all European ways of writing were based off of. Latin, the language we call the root of all, is of a Greek derivative. It may be called the "Greek" life, but there is nothing Greek about it. Kirie eleison imas!

  • ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA... rays DELTA, EPSILON, hey hey hey! ZETA, ETA, THETA, IOTA Then theres KAPPA and LAMBDA MU and NU and XI (x-i) OMICRON and then theres PI RHO and SIGMA and TAU, too UPSILON, it starts with U PHI and CHI and PSI are fun OMEGA and then youre done Learn all that and then youre set Thats the whole Greek alphabet
  • this is right cuz this is how the active members are teaching us . thanks! this is gonna help me alot!

  • lol thats not like that i am from greece and i tell u man delet the video its totaly wrong its not like that u sed oly like 2-3 letter rite

  • Im not greek at all im american and I can already tell this is soo wrong, the girl has a hardcore American accent! and in english the e in Beta sounds like ay. classic english mispronunciation.. I cant even hear the whole video its terrible! (I will learn Greek in the future)

  • LAMe how do u learn 4rm this sau?
