  • How would you get an F with capo at the fifth fret?

  • I came here to know how to play kurt cobain songs :D

  • What an odd shaped guitar X)

  • This helps so much right now!!! <33333333333333333

  • KAY-PO?! I always thought it was capo..

  • THATS NOT A CAPO! THATS A CLOTHES PEG! D:

  • 1 and a half notes, not frets DUMB

  • @marcoandres96 ... It's one and a half TONES, not notes. Don't worry though, I won't call you dumb the way you did to the other guy. I could, but I won't. I will suggest that as well as learning about music that you learn some manners, however. Manners are very important in life. Being rude, while it may seem cool to you now, will work against you as you grow up.

  • @marcoandres96 Or you could talk in tones and semitones DUMB.

  • After 15 years of using a capo I've just found out that your not supposed to place the capo in the middle of the fret lmfao? Is this correct?

  • @xDet3rmin4tionx WHAT!

  • @SolSilence lol

  • @xDet3rmin4tionx are you being serious? I only got one the other day but I never knew xD where do you put it? O.O

  • @SolSilence Huh? Your supposed to not put it in the center of the fret, it is supposed to be put on the way he shows it in the video 1:38 is correct. What I was saying was, I never knew this :).

  • @xDet3rmin4tionx Yeah I was putting it in the middle of the fret...

    Thanks dude xD

  • @SolSilence Hehe me too! Your welcome, rock on :).

  • @xDet3rmin4tionx :D Oh I will,You any godo at guitar? :D

  • @SolSilence I'm ok hehe, type into youtube "Tommy Emmanuel Angelina", I can play that :).

  • @xDet3rmin4tionx Thats pretty good man :)

  • @SolSilence hehe cool! Good luck with your learning.

  • @xDet3rmin4tionx Thank you and the same to you :)

  • So does the capo make the sound higher or lower?

  • @TheHaloChief117 It makes it higher. Think about it, if you put the capo to the 4th fret, what it does is it frets each and every string at the 4th fret for you.

Let's suppose you want to play in A-D-G-C-E-A tuning. If you try to tune your gitar all the way up to that tuning (which is 2.5 steps up from standard E), I guarantee you that you'll break your strings, cuz they can't bear that much tension. So what do you do? You put a capo to the 5th fret, and bam, problem solved.

  • @codeP08 thanks

  • @codeP08 thanks for the info. Where should i go to buy a capo other than guitar shops?

  • @rolandroiroi I've no idea where else you could buy it. Maybe on the internet, but that too would be off a site that deals instruments and everything, no? But why would you NOT wanna buy it at a guitar shop? ;)

  • @codeP08 because the mall near me i guess has no guitar shop XD

  • @rolandroiroi amazon :D

  • I still don't get it, how you can play open strings with capo on? If for example you need to play "0" as written in tabs

  • @pequoeres No no its the same thing lets say we put the capo on the 3rd fret and lets say that we cut 3 frets from the guitar and again it's 0 got it?>??

  • is this a classic or acoustic guitar?

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Joe,The tool is called a capo, short for capotasto, an Italian invention with the 'a' pronounced exactly as the 'a' in 'asshole', or the correct word 'arsehole'.

Surprise your friends, by being the first to pronounce the word correctly!

  • Cap-o

    Get it right.

  • Hey, do capo positioning is the same for 12Fret and 14Fret guitar?

  • You have your caop on the third fret what key are you playing in and so on up the neck ?

Is the first fret Ab ?

  • @NWODevon how can you all an American stupid when you didn't spell the pronunciation out. It makes it even more of a contradicting matter when you spaced out all the letters, to whatever effect who knows. Calling him stupid must make you the most retarded person in the world. So, the next time you feel you should call anyone stupid, at least type/speak to where you have thought it out first! Thanks pal!

  • thanks!!

  • I hate it when ppl mispronounce the name

  • finger the E chord...hahaha 2:01

  • I'm confused. How do you know whether you want to find the root note on the 6th string or on the forth string likw when you went to the 5th fret with the capo? What about on the 7th fret and so on?

  • Comment removed

  • I am stupid question. What kind of crapo is being used? Sorry for english.

  • Whoa at 0:33 I was like... What's wrong with his guitar?? lol

  • k....now i'm evev more confused

  • Medival Capo !! =D

  • thanks for help!

  • this has been quite helpful, except for the lack of explanation on how to transpose correctly, and who the tune differs when putting a capo on a specific fret...but very useful nontheless...

  • @yuvi259690 shut up, girls play guitar too.

  • im just using capo because the sting of my accoustic guitar is to hard to press....

my finger hurts so much....but when i use capo and place it in 1st fret, its easy for me to press strings...^^

  • bad idea... its better for you to learn the guitar how it should be played. its hard at first but its worth it at the end

  • @pepperroni17 - good idea, it's about experimenting with different tones and registers and as the guy says, 'textures'. You've still gotta play the guitar and sure, you could overdo it but he explains why it can be useful.

  • you have 3 more options to make it easy on your fingers lol

1 the best one is to lower the action of the guitar.

2 Put thinner / lighter strings.

    (1 & 2 can be combined)

3 lower the pitch of your strings ( but you wont be in tune with other guitars playing with you or with a cd)#hope this helps ;)

  • YOU HAVE THE SAME NAME AS ME. AND I'M A GIRL! blah!

  • ha ha ha

  • lfmao

  • darn i have been doing it wrong.....

  • can u use a classical guitar capo on an acoustic guitar?

  • probably would not work very well. a steel string guitar fingerboard has a slight curve. a classical guitar fingerboard is flat. some strings might get muffled as a result.

  • You mean there are 2 types? One for classical and one for acoustic?

  • Right i have a question.

If a tab said to put a capo on the 1st fret and told you to place all your fingers on the first fret (example), would that mean put all your fingers on what would originally be the second fret.

  • yes when you put the capo on the first fret the second becaomses the first fret

  • oops becomes*

  • So is that the same as if you put the capo on the 2nd fret? Would the 3rd fret then become the 1st fret?

  • yes

  • Hehe, looks like a medieval capo :)

  • Thanks for the advice! I got a capo as a freebie when I bought my guitar, but I had never really learned how to use it the way you described.

  • lol he said finger lol

  • lol it confused the fuk out of me

  • allright.. please answer me xD

I make a G chord, i put a capo on the 3 freath (whatever the name is..) and i play a G !just like if i didn t had the capo, isn t that right? ITS A G ! a ..opposite of lower (LOOL) G !

  • No its different... I dont know what you did wrong

  • nice guitar, what make is that?

  • Dude, the last time I used a Capo, my music buddies found out and I got beat up!

They said Capo's are for wussies!

  • ... They're for changing the key.

  • ask them to try and form a C major shape on one of the lower frets with a barre instead of a capo. see who's the wussy then!

  • @mayabronco Well your buddies must be some pretty close minded fellows. A lot of chords are just impossible to play without a capo.

  • where would i buy a capo?

  • guitar center... umm... store? lol. just ask the counter it's with the picks,..

  • Thanks for the advice!

  • I broke a G string when I tried to finger A minor.

  • you were fingering a minor? thats nothing to brag about. ur better off with people ur own age

  • Okay... So you're saying I should still finger minors?

  • like garry gliter !!!!

oh go ahead say this is spam

    it had to be said

  • lol it did

  • it well and truly did my friend that has to be one of the funniest comments ive ever saw on youtube

  • @MisterGonorrhea that sounded so kinky. hahahah.

  • @MisterGonorrhea That blows...

  • If someone didn't know what all that ment it would sound really wrong. LOL

  • @MisterGonorrhea ha i've heard that one.

  • @MisterGonorrhea LMAO!

  • @MisterGonorrhea LMAO!

  • @MisterGonorrhea 69 people like this.

  • depending on how YOU learned to form the open G chord......I USE my first finger..

    -Soupy1957

  • i've always said cah-po

  • its right either way

  • Its easier to just barre youre fingers and play the shapes.

  • easier but not the same voicing or tone on the chords - its deadend

  • wtf did he say?

  • I'm taking a guess here:

    For a G major chord-

Capo 3rd fret - You play an E shape chord

Capo 5th fret - You play a D shape chord

Capo 7th fret - Would be a C shape chord??

  • So long as the root note is still a G and yeah.

  • wow i just searched 'guitar capo'

    i didn't think I'd actually find anything... =)

  • rule #1.. it is "cape-o", not "cap-o"

    ... =(

  • doesn't really matter

  • Lol i always been prounouncing it "cap-o" LOL now i know ^^

  • ha, same here.

  • same. lol

  • you're making it too technical and it's not!!!

  • Using the capo really changes how you can play...But this is YouTube! Instruction is here!!

  • dang...i seriously...don't get it....

    ack..itz gona take me a a while...

how do you know the difference of each note of the strings when the capo is on the 5th fret..?? so all the strings change, and then we're suppose to know what note the strings convert to? =] sorry, i just really wanna know this.. *cries*

  • Thank you so much for the lesson, I always thought that the chord would be played by the same way if you put a capo on, but yet this lessong taught me a lot, each chord changes its position when there's a capo and it depends on which frets, that was great lesson, if you can post more information about each chord's position I would appreciate that, keep that up!

  • caypo :D

  • yeh :D
