@notanotherbloodyelf no, his last album was AMAZING but he's been directing movies :p. he collaborated with Newsboys on one of their albums and he co-wrote most of the songs on Peter Furler's new album with Peter. He also sang in one of the songs on said album.
{Revelation 20:12} And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
ive seen this video many times. it never hit me that LISA WELCHEL is in this video, until today. how cool was it that they got BLAIR to do this video!!
this song is talking about how much we pay attention to celebrity and that we should not worship them but indeed worship the Lord instead. one day the stars will all be gone but he''ll remain
@Nelr0y666 I think it goes way deeper than that. Using Madame Tussades Wax museum with the heat turned way up draws a parallel to how all the celebrity status or fame or money or accomplishments.......no matter how well respected you are, you will melt in hell fire. "good, bad, there they go down the same drain"
The comments kind of make me smile, not without respect: So much of the Church has been either so hypocritical or played things so safely and traditionally that youth growing up have been completely turned off or ironically, failed to see Jesus as relevant to them, their peers, the realities they face. It sometimes takes a voice unafraid of controversy to say things like: How the heck can you say your Christian University is genuine when they refuse the admission of African Americans? Ahem.
Just way too clever. I mean seriously, who wirtes lyrics like this anymore?
Phenomenal lines: "they're starting to secrete" "feverish at Fleet Street, story of the year, get the facts house of wax photo souvenir"(!), "Put your stock in candles"; "Is it gonna take a miracle to make up his mind"; "his assets have all been liquefied", "got my hands in my pockets on the judgment day"--absolutely classic.
the christain music was so great back then he was as good as all the other 80s bands i bought this 12 inch when i saw him in a club in the 80's maybe with undercover it had remixes on it also i think there might be a vhs out there about meltdown too i hope that i still have the 12 inch someware and wasnt stupid with it
No, it was not great back then at all. There were very few good bands playing rock, but there were some golden ones ie. Steve Taylor, The Rez Band, Allies, Petra, Stryper, etc...
Steve Taylor was definitely the most clever lyricist CCM ever had. Kerry Livgrin was a superb musician, Mylon LeFevre was a great showman, but Steve Taylor had them all beat in lyrics.
Wish he still wrote. Nothing else was even close to what he did.
The dude was too hip 4 the mainstream Christian crowd...shame...lyrics had "edge" to them...but, than we all know what happened to Christ...1st time around, don't we?
Can't what to see ST ratings come Judgment Day, eh, mates??
If Frank Zappa (GAG!!!) ever had a Christian counterpart, Stevie would be it!! I used to own every cassette he made back in the 80's! Now, I have 2 cd's of his greatest stuff.
Fantastic artist! One of the best & most original that Christian music ever had! I wish he still made music. Biting lyrics, thoughtful lyrics, gave a great stage show, & changed his clothes almost as much as Cher!
Where is he? Keep watching his videos on Yoiu Tube-- I have some of his records, and have a few of his CDs, including his 'best of' 2 CD release. Awesome stuff!
Jesus votes Republican and kill them commies in Mickarwagwa! Thank God Steve Taylor helped fight the Communist Menace in the 1980s when it really mattered! What's a great witness for us devils Christians
Steve Taylor- thanks for the music and for speaking while others would not speak, your music is as true today as when you originally penned it years ago.
@nafa Well, you see, Christians look at the world and see what is making money. Then, they make up their own very lame version of it. Then, church kids go to youth group and jump up and down when the copycat music is played. And.... it doesn't make sense at all does it???
Again, there is a whole generation of Christians that were blessed and spiritually challenged in practical ways by Steve's music. He is a Believer with integrity, was a youth pastor before he went into singing, and the messages of his lyrics have all dealt with issues that were not being dealt with. No one can point out hypocrisy in the church and call a spade a spade as Steve could; yet His heart has only ever been set to honoring Jesus. Jesus HAS impacted lives thru Steve.
I know Steve to know that he is a Believer with integrity. Thank God for different personalities and approaches. It would be impossible to hear his entire "Meltdown" album without "getting it." His music was cutting edge at the time it was released. He is a storyteller, w/a keen approach of social conscience which some find too caustic. Much of his stuff is meant for those who need convincing, and is not meant to be deep "worship" music. It all deals with authenticity/Jesus.
It is awesome to see Taylor again, these videos are classics and bring back good memories. Taylor was always cutting edge and wacky enough to try anything and laugh at himself. We need more artists like him.
At 1:40 , how does he do that cool sound with almost no movement?

He's channeling David Bowie here with the trenchcoat and the lights that make his hair flaming red on stage. Very Ziggy Stardust.
