CFL's are a good tip but I think LED's are even better especially as hallway or porch lights. You don't need a ton of light for these areas and they last up to 30,000 hours, about 3 to 5 times longer than the CFL's with no mercury issues. Also the tip on using cold water when washing clothes is a good one. Unless you have a stain to get rid of I see no difference between the quality of the wash between using hot and cold water.

Thanks for the comment:) Yes even the CN Tower in Canada uses LED lights, and i have some for my x-mas lights as well;) Yes very true for cold water, Tide has a special detergent used for cold water, which is nice too:)

Getting energy saving lights is good but even then we have to be careful. I was told the ones from China don't last as long as they claim. I forgot where the good one is from.

yes you do still have to be careful because they contain dangerous mercury:( but there are some stores, e.i, Home Depot, that you can recycle them properly. Oh i never heard that about China, thats dumb how they don't last long.
