Every episode has that Blair Witch "camera right in someone's face" shot. And the shaky camera, too-dark scenes and other "purposely amaturish" video techniques means half the time you don't know what the hell is happening. This goes for the editing too. The story jumps all over, impossible to follow.
I also notice many "errors" such as camera's and cameramen in the shot. I find it insulting that the networks think we will swallow up something as sloppy as this.

I think the networks are finally realizing that people like horror, mystery, and thriller shows, not just comedy and reality television. I think this show looks promising, but I still want more mystery/thrillers on air. I think the need to take a page out of the YA/teen programming. Some of the most popular shows on TV now are Pretty Little Liars, Vampire Diaries, ect. and then they have the Lying Game & Secret Circle that has just came out. We need adult shows patterned after that.
What I mean is, they should make a show like PLL for adults. They could even put it on one of the cable networks or FX and add some spice to it, like American Horror Story. Matter of fact I read a book the other day with an premise that I think would make a great TV show. It's a Richard Laymon novel where a librarian gets letters from an unknown person daring them to do things and if they do they get paid, each dare is worse but pays more.

I won’t be watching this show. I’ve tried Falling Skies and Terra Nova and they we’re really bad … so for me Steven Spielberg isn’t a guarantee that this show will be good, neither that it will surpass its 2 predecessors in any way (story, effects and entertainment factor).
1. watch another TV show based on LOST elements (which means: unexplained mysteries, paradisiac landscapes and lots of confusion);
2. endure a very slow paced storyline (ex: up to 5 episodes to solve something irrelevant to the main storyline arc and that nobody cares about);
3. follow uninteresting characters whose lives been changed by something that we won’t be witnessing anytime soon (lots of waiting, extremely long dialogues and stuff that we don’t care about).
It kind of just looks like Paranormal activity,in the amazon, as a tv show. and from the looks of it they saw the man in black/smoke monster from Lost and went "That's a good idea!"

I wish US tv would follow the Japanese model and produce 11-episode series with a complete story arc, beginning to end. If you have a smash hit on your hands, maybe, just maybe, you do a second season, but only if you have material to finish that out. I mean seriously - I am tired of watching shows, starting them, only to have the rug pulled out from me and have them cancelled or be unfinished with lots of loose ends. This one *surely* fits that pattern.

Enjoy this show quick because it has six episodes before it gets cancelled. When it comes to movies Spielberg is just about untouchable, but for tv shows, he produces shit. Although to me it looks good, but I can't see how they can sustain this idea for an entire full series.
@7armedman I completely disagree, while I haven't been a huge fan of Terra Nova, Falling Skies was fucking GREAT. It basically made itself out to be what it was pitched as, a walking dead style show and thank god it worked. Likable characters, fairly interesting plot, little bits and pieces of foreshadowing here and there made it a SOLID show and I really look forward to the next season.
And if 'this' is done right, I.E. keep the horror strong, it'll work well.

intresting but the beggining looks pretty boring. ive seen it play out in a hundred different shows and movies but after they find the boat looks like a promising plot from there on.
