Well, for one it's not your car. If he wants it carbon wrapped then who cares? secondly, you're partially right, why carbon wrap it instead of real carbon fiber? maybe he spent all his money on the car. because to buy good carbon fiber is going to be about five times more expensive than to simply wrap it. it is also easier to wrap the hood doing it yourself, but having experience with real carbon fiber i know it's much easier to wrap it.
