  • I can't wait until I have a baby =]

  • One big baby. Why the hell would a woman be in the delivery room taking pictures as the baby crowns???!!!! Who'd would do that?

  • CONGRATS!!!!! The baby looks cute

  • This doctor did an AWESOME job, and thank God she went to the hospital instead of stayed at home with the midwife. Midwives like to think they know it all. Have they been to medical school for 10 years? No.

  • Whoo-Haaa

  • This doc has her own show, yet she doesn't even know the proper birthing position for the mother, just for the perfect view for her.

I agree with the other comments as well.

  • wow. OB= clueless. you get up to 3cm more room in your pelvis in practically ANY position other than on your back....

  • Um.... lying on your back shrinks your pelvis by about 3cm. It absolutely does not open your pelvis. That Dr needs to go watch some midwife assisted home births.

  • Why was this all about the dr? Some people can't help but criticize which is sad. Well done to the mum, it was all calm and beautiful and the fact that 'she' said 'I love you' to the dr shows that she felt comfortable and safe which is a great thing.

  • i dont like that doctor. from the beginning. ew

  • What a horrid Dr!!! YOUR PELVIS DOES NOT OPEN WHEN ON YOUR BACK!! I am amazed this fear mongering show even has a woman delivering naturally.

  • @a1edable I was in SHOCK also! it does NOT open on your back...

  • She could have done way more than touch her baby's head she could have caught the baby herself.

  • @EmpressButterfly1 She could have done it herself, if she would have NOT listened to the doctor and got on her back, the baby would have fallen into her hands or the fathers.

  • the doctor just lied

  • Squatting is the best way to give birth. It opens the birth canal wide and you are pushing with gravity.

I hate when they say they had a 'natural' birth when what the mean is a medication or drug free birth. I had two babies and I had painkillers. However, I carried both to term and pushed them out of my body, perfectly natural. Why would I want to suffer hours of pain if I don't have to do so?

  • @mommyndoula and dragonfly122 How could you say that? Every ob has their own opinion

  • "horrible-horrible pressure" - now that's the typical doc's 'encouragement' there. *dislike the doc* - *likes the whole natural part of this birth*

  • i think its wrong and completly unnesccary to sgow it happening down there

  • what a stupid OB

  • @mommyndoula she's a fake nice person.

  • Is this show still on?

  • Oh wow thats so inspirational ... I am due any day now and really hope i can find your strength

  • jajajaj "He looks like a monkey" jajajaja

  • I dislike this show because these OB/GYNS are so amazed by this woman's natural birth. natural mother led birth should be the way it is to begin with. someone in this profession should not be as amazed by a natural birth as these woman are.

  • @scoobydoo46112

Just a perspective from someone in the medical field....I beleive the reason OB's are so amazed by it is they don't see NATURAL birth as often as people think. It is not as common of a choice as it used to be. I think it is amazing when women choose this and I think it's awesome that someone could still be amazed by it after seeing it beofore. Not being a critic...just my perspective :-)

  • @1985jendi exactly the reason lots of women don't trust OB's and decide on home birth with midwives who HAVE witnessed 1000's of births. Midwifes are more experienced than OB's as you have just said, they don't witness natural birth as part of their roles or training, whereas midwifes do

  • on your back no, thats the HARDEST way cuz baby literaly has to go UP to get out. sitting upright lightly reclined with legs pulled back yes.much different.

  • Awesome Trish! i am so proud of you.....WELL DONE.....you even got to touch your baby's head that was so neat xoxo

  • she's so strong

  • that doc is stupid, sitting and pulling your legs back is the hardest way to get baby out. It's a known fact that, that position was created purely for doctors convenience and for when they use forcepts. Not to mention the pelvis opens an inch or two MORE when you are on all 4's. that lady is STUPID! wonder if she's ever had a baby.

  • @strawberryme08 they showed that she has kids...at least 2 in this video that came to see the baby

  • at the end. God. You guys act like she's some retard. So you read a book/online article/ attended a childbirth class and now you're a doctor? You now know everything there is to know about childbirth? No. She did FINE. Both the mother and the doctor did great.

  • You know what? This was AWESOME. It was great. But evreyone needs to shut the hell up about the doctor. Really. Do you had a medical degree? This woman has spent years in school studying and becoming a doctor. YOU haven't. Some doctors are bad doctors I admit, but this doctor was a very good doctor. So she may have been wrong about the pelvis thing. And when she said the thing about the epidural, she did not mean that you're not in control, simply that women tend to become overwhelmed with pain.

  • at 6:33 the OB says, "You can push anyway you want to but the best way is for you to be sitting and pulling your legs back".

Simpson, Kathleen Rice. "When and How to Push: Providing the Most Current Information About Second-Stage Labor to Women During Childbirth Education"

    J Perinat Educ. 2006 Fall; 15(4): 6–9

"Forcing women's legs back against their abdomen during pushing should be avoided because this results in stretching the perineum and increases the risk of perineal lacerations"

  • @aradiapaganus The OB continues, "That is what opens your pelvis the most." No. It doesn't. In fact it does the exact opposite... but itmakes the view easier for the OB. Sitting on your tailbone, or laying on your back causes contractions to be much worse as the wieght of the baby is on your sacrum and tailbone. You have to work against gravity and force the baby up and over your perineum-- which is tighten by having your legs pulled back (much more likely to tear).

  • Comment removed

  • if you want a natural birth don't go to the hospital until you are 2 minutes aparts if you are a first time mom

  • i thought that was great.. i really hope my natural birth in just a few short weeks goes that smoothly! :]

  • Just broke her water bag? wow, poor doctors dont know how to deliver a baby natural

  • Just broke her water bag? wow

  • The reason why this woman had such a hard time is simple. They kept getting up and moving all over the place. Hard floor? Outside in the yard hanging onto a fence? Ridiculous. Every time this is done the body is naturally going to tighten up again. Furthermore she was getting way too much attention and not enough privacy and hands-off, which again, during times like this is going to increase tension because body/mind needs to be left alone. Simplicity, logic, privacy -- your friends to the end.

  • @regresseur

getting up and moving around helps bring the baby down further into the birth canal, making labor not as long.

  • The doc does look like Britney Spears, and I think the pregnant woman's hubby looks like one of the main bad guys in "Romeo Must Die".... Mmmmm, sexy!

  • that doctor is so retarded. in what world is your pelvis bigger when you're laying on the your back? what a douche.

  • Hahaha I remember that feeling so well hahaha, feeling like you have a bowling ball in your hoohaa!

  • anatomically, birth on all fours makes the most sense. the dr is definitely going for ease on her part an not on moms.

  • @VKMTkitty Agreed! I actually screamed at the screen when that woman said that was the best position...yeah for you! Trish was doing great on all fours!

But apart from that, a great video and lovely birth :)

  • The birth is going so nice at home, they should have just stayed there.

  • 'Deliver me'...the title already discloses the attitude of the show towards 'natural birth'. If they were really pro-natural birth without the drama of something about to go dreadfully wrong (because birth is not natural to the female body- so very flawed and inadequate without technology), shouldn't the title be 'Me birthing' as in birth being something a woman does as opposed to something being done to her?

  • nıce doctor. my doctor was mean.. (the doctor who was on call that nıght) she was just sayıng push push more. thats all.. not enough, push more..

the doc ın thıs vıdeo ıs very ınformatıve and nıce. wısh ı had her.

  • for me ıt dıdnt really hurt untıl 5cm.. then ı had the epıdural. but wısh ı dıdnt. because ı dıdnt feel the need to push .

  • ı dıd not feel lıke ı was goıng to pop any mınute. ı was huge too.. even at 41 weeks. what ıs she talkıng about :)))) anyway congratulatıons.

  • Great job I hope I can be as relaxed and strong as you! Way to focus and u had great support too! Congrats

  • Congratulations to the parents. Mom did wonderfully!

Too bad the doctor lied to them and she ended up in the worst pose - spread eagle on her back. Shame on her.

  • @rodilnitza

There's no way I could have birthed on my back. I semi-squatted backwards in the bed for support. My mom said to turn around, but I refused to move. Her hand was beside her head, and I never felt it. Guess I did it right?

  • How boring!!!

  • @renerocks745 Yes. Maybe the mom should try juggling and singing in spanish.

    Shame on you.

What would make it more interesting?

  • With routine directed pushing. Some researchers suggest it's harmful. Holding your breath a long time naturally decreases flow of 0xygen to your baby. Research suggests it's stresses & harms baby. Excess force of direct pushing can be harmful to your perineum, results in more tears & weak pelvic floor muscles months after birth. Weakness in these muscles is associated with incontinence Listen to your body, work with push urges, birth baby between contractions reducing the risk of tears

  • @mylovesofmylife Yes, I dislike their persistance on getting the fetus out as quickly as possible instead of letting mom birth naturally in her own time. The told me to push even when I didn't have a contraction! disliked hospital birth greatly.

  • @sareenagreen2010 exactly! hospıtal birth sucks...

  • Lying on your back may cause lower blood pressure and less blood flow to your baby due to the weight of the uterus on major blood vessels. When you lie on your back with your legs up in stirrups, you are actually pushing your baby out against gravity.

  • You did a wonderful job ad you were so brave!Congratulations with your beautyful babyboy!

  • I feel so bad for this lady. The doctor definitely lied about laying on her back. I think anyone knows that squatting is one of the best positions (just not for the doctor).

  • this women is so brave

  • THe men looks like his Filipino...

  • she makes it looks simple

  • I am HORRIFIED by that HUGE lie!!!!!! Oh my gosh, its medically proven that the pelvis is opened by squatting or kneeling rather than being on your back!

  • the doctor brought her own kids in wtf!! This isn't a peep show

  • @100rrh I'm sure she asked first, jeez.

  • @sareenagreen2010 Where is that in this video? Don't be so sure doctors are always considerate.

  • @100rrh The video was edited. And what makes you think I believe doctors are considerate? that's why I choose the alternative path.My alt doc is awesome as all heck.Ex modern docs, not so much.

  • i find this doctor annoying

  • Wow u r an amazing women I hope I can be that carm. I'm 37weeks gone now. Can't wait. Xxx

  • still watching, and i'm getting scared. I'm having a natural birth in less than 4 weeks... I will be in the water though.

  • @halosilverland Don't be scared!!! TV is all for ratings so of course they play up the drama! Giving birth naturally is awesome! I've had two natural deliveries and I would never do it another way! My advice is become very knowledgeable about what to expect and ways to cope, and hire a birth doula, they make a world of difference! Good luck :)

  • @amo1184 thats so great that you had a natural birth :) is it possible to do what you did in a hospital setting? I'm really turned off by how grabby the doctors and nurses are, no privacy, bright lights everywhere, etc. but not being in a hospital when I have a baby worries me because what would I do if something goes wrong?

  • That doctor SOO lied! The only person that benefits from the mother pushing on her back, is the doctor. The best position is the one that feels right for the mother, but if you want to open the pelvis, try squatting or pushing on all fours. These, however, require the doctor to either sit on the floor (gasp!) or get in a possibly uncomfortable position to catch the baby.

Beautiful birth, but next time I suggest a midwife! :)

  • I did it natural 2 times and I'm a huge whinger so if I can do it nearly anyone can try if the circumstances are right

  • I saw this on TV. BULL FUCKING SHIT doctor. Jesus. And that freaking music, omg, it's not the freaking apocalypse, people. It's a baby's birthday!!!! I HATE these shows. They are sooooo detrimental to new moms. Awful.

  • you inspired me to go natural to when my time comes..thank you.

  • Im definitely going to have #2 at home... because NO doctors like that exist. I swear. Or hospitals. She was allowed to wear her own clothes! She didnt have a heplock or IV! She had a birthing ball in the room! She could push however felt natural! They didnt keep offering her drugs constantly! I swear, that only happened for the show. I have never heard (or experienced) that.

The doc was right about opening the pelvis and bending the legs, but she should have mentioned NOT to lay down.

  • hey! i was born in good sam! the good sam in los gatos california! but that doesnt look like good sam on the outside but the inside looks familiar! and good job! my mom had epidorel and was in labor with me for about 10 hours! lol

  • OMG! "DELIVER ME" Actually has a natural child birth on there?!?! AMAZING, and here i was thinking it was just a show to advertise C-Sections for Surgeons!!

  • Thats true, im a birth doula also and that position is the worst to the mom.

  • @Amigasdoparto well which one is best?

  • The easiest position to deliver in is NOT lying on your back. It's the squatting position. Of course you have to be careful not to overpush and drop the baby, but squatting opens your pelvis the most and you have gravity working in your favor. You are also least likely to tear in this position. Most hospital doctors do not like this position because they cannot easily access the child as it's coming, but that should give them no reason to lie....

  • Thia is the best video ever ... awww such a caring family ...

  • That video made me cry...You are an amazing family, your husband is so supportive! I'm expecting my first baby in 6 weeks...It's a very exciting time!

  • Wow she was amazing, she is one strong woman. GOD bless their family.

  • I can't stand the doctor (the one with the fake nice, perky Sarah Palin-esque personality).

  • I hate the doctor. She acts like it's totally amazing that she can give birth the way nature intended, as though she were some sort of freak. I'm so scared of encountering this.

  • As a doula this video is a must to share with my clients. I'm grateful for such a beautiful video, thank you!

  • She's pretty much on her back which certainly isn't ideal, and breaking the waters at 6cm dilated is not a natural birth!

  • yes ppl but shes not lying flat on her back the hob is raised shes semi reclined...thats how i delivered and my delivery was a breeze infact they had me bent in half like a pretzel haha

  • I found that getting on all fours for each of my 3 rapid NVD's really helped with pushing.

  • wut type of noise did she make lol and why the fuck would u lay on ur bacK>??

  • Wow, that Dr. is LYING!!! Foolish.

    Awesome Birth!

  • wow I'll have to try shiatsu next time I have another one..

  • Hi, um, I don't mean this in a bad way, but, are y'all Jewish?

  • I'm proud of the mama and APPALLED at her stupid doctor!!!

  • "Horrible, Horrible, Horrible" pressure...... I don't think the doctor should have suggested with that... I think "Pressure" was all mother needed to hear/expect...

    Mother did a great job!!

  • That doctor needs to get her facts straight

    1. Laying on the back is the worst position in the world....

    2. Epidural does not make you more "in control"

  • I was shocked as to all the lies the doctor said! In other words without an epidural you are not able to be in control of your birth?!? NO!

  • Stupid doctor

  • I had two natural births and then my last one was an epidural..I loved the epidural!!!!!!!!!! My best birth experience ever!

  • such a beautifull birth i love watching the program deliever me such some beautifull stories on there xx well done lol xxxxxxx

  • this dr. looks like britney spears

  • happy birthday

  • What a beautiful birth. So touching.

  • Just in case no one else has said this: on her back pulling legs back is by far NOT the best position for the baby. Easy to find research that supports this.

  • @nktaliaferro Every birth is different and each with it's own special way is a unique delivery. This may well have been the best position here, seeing as the mother wasn't labouring too long and had no problem with the baby coming out. When it comes to dialation gravity does help. Before the birth of her baby she was perched up and bearing down. Then asked to lay down as she didn't have long. If she had laboured on her back all the way, then she would more than likely have had a longer labour.

  • The narrator is really off-putting."Trish, who is still dead-set on going all-natural." As if it's so hard to believe that someone wants a natural (normal) birth!!!

  • @jadoredashboardd

i was thinking the same.. I got 4 kids and no. 5 is on its way.. and ALL NATURAL. as if it´s not natural to give birth with out drugs.

woman giving birth everyday and done it for 1000 of years.

  • @jadoredashboardd i agree. why would she change her mind?!!?

  • Second, why semi-sitting? Why not side-laying or all 4s? There are other positions besides sitting that can still protect the perineum.

Again what an awesome birth, congrats!

  • Snarkytrish-

First you are awesome! What a wonderful birth you had! Also great for you to have had a natural hospital birth, that's not easy!

Ok I can understand that it's editing, BUT 2 big things here. Other mamas don't know this is edited and are taking what she says here as truth, "... but the easiest angle for the baby is if there is any way you can be sitting and pulling your legs back. Only because that is what opens your pelvis the most." So that's what everyone else hears and believes.

  • wow cant wait to deliver my babygirl :-) i have to wait another 8 weeks til my due ..

  • Wow!! i hope to perform like u in 4 months!! What a wonderful women u are. ur husband must be proud

  • well done mum...you sould really be proud of yourself

  • YES THATS TRUE

  • Love this birth..wish there were more of this type of birth on this show. Dr did a great job supporting the natural birth process. If we only had more doctors willing to be encouraging of natural birth..even if they personally prefer a more managed birth. This is the type of birth midwives see 95 % of the time. Excellent!

  • So while we only hear her say that being on my back would be best, we miss the full context-- this way she could support my perineum & prevent tearing.

  • Hi folks, Trish here (mom in this video). I gotta step in to point out that the editing here is misleading. We all know that being on your back closes the pelvis, slowing baby down. But by the time Dr. Hill suggested a change in my position, BABY WAS ALREADY THROUGH MY PELVIS. He was CROWING. He had moved through my birth canal so fast, Dr. Hill was concerned that my perineum would be damaged, since it hadn't had much time to stretch.

  • precisely spoken by the Holy Spirit, through this woman is a marvelous microphone for God with her words of Love and Glory! What a great experience & parable to life, we have to endure to that very intense pain & still commit to going through this, (assistance to life), after that one moment, it is easy again, the rest (deliverance) becomes gratifying & rewarding. God Is Good, God Is The Great I Am & God knows His perfect timing, testing, teaching for all humankind, descendants of Jesus Christ.

  • i also did it au natural, but because I began experienceing preeclampsia, I was given pictocin to speed up the contractions but that's just to soften the cervix, etc. If u keep ur chin to ur chest and concentrate the push without YELLING, it's easier and once you get the head out, when the rest flows....it feels like you just expelled 100 lbs of jello! It feels wiered and relieving at the same time! Other moms who went through it can understand! LOL!

  • It is just amazing! the baby is so cute and sweet!

  • omg, she made it look so easy. I'm 26weeks right now, and hoping to have natural birth at the hospital. I'm amazed at the number of women with birth videos, I think I'd be too embarrassed to go on camera, even if it was my hubby taping...

  • rhanks for this educative video i enjoyed it so much

  • yeah.. i think that doc totally lied to her about the position being "best for the baby." hard for the mama to argue with a statement like that, meanwhile the doctor doesn't have to bend or lean to help the mother in a better position, such as in a squat or on all fours.

  • what a lovely midwife she was...I hope I get a midwife as nice as her!

  • don't know why doc made her get on her back dosen't that make the pelvis smaller?? but good to see a birth like this w an ob in the hospital! way to go mama

  • Wow, that's amazing!!!! Even my second birth was an hour of pushing! (first birth was 3 hours!) Awesome job to the mama!

  • can everyone stop getting all upset on the ob & hospital. keep your opinions to yourself. i didn't pay much attention to that. all i was seeing was a beautiful miracle coming into this world. a gift from God. a perfect & healthy baby boy. and that girl did very well if that were me in that bed id be yelling & kicking & screaming, i would be screaming so loud you could hear me from the parking lot. so i give that momma some props. im 41 weeks & im going to try to go all natural.

  • I hate how freaking negative the narrator is. I don't think I've ever seen a natural birth on "deliver me". The doctor totally lied to her about the birth position. It closes the pelvic outlet by 30%. It's easiest for THE DOCTOR, not the baby or the mom. And it's NOT rare for a mom to be in control when she doesn't have an epidural. This is why I hate hospital birth with a typical ob.

  • Supine is not the best angle for giving birth! Ah! It's squatting, if you must go for the best angle, but almost anything is better than supine. But other than that it was good to see a relatively non-invasive doctor.

  • I'm due in 12 days. Going ALLLL natural! (if bub can fit out that is! He's really big )

  • that was awesome!

  • In the postion that she was actually is a good postion for birth it is when you are flat on your back that does not help... but she was on a angle... really it is how ever you feel comfortable... brought tears to my eyes natural was much more of an expierence with ym first baby i had an epidural on my second i wanted it all natural.. and i did it.. like thousands of woman before me.. focus is the biggest piece of advice i can give...

  • I felt a little uncomfortable watching this when the doctor told her to switch from a perfectly suitable birthing position to her back and telling her to push when she wasn't feeling the urge... Also what is with the big bight light shining on her hoo ha!! fair play to the mother especially with all that unnecessary drama surrounding her when she got to the hospital... jeesh..

  • its worse to lay down cuz when ur sitin or standin it helps move the baby down

  • im due in 11 wks& watching this has made me a little less nervous :)

  • I sure you'll do fine. Whether your baby is a boy or girl, I hope he/she is born very healthy. Also in the video, the doctor who helped trish with the delivery looked sorta like Dr.G [in my opinion, no one has to agree (unless you do agree).]

  • I'm so glad for videos like this! Thanks to this family for showing that natural childbirth is not that scary! Women have the strength to do it!

  • why has that doctor just told a bare face lie? Lying on your back is the worse position!!!!!!!

  • @swalestacey It's the least productive. It slows down and usually elevates the pain. 70% and possibly more of merican births are delived laying on the back. Yes this is easier for the Nurse/Midwife/Doctor to see into the vaginal area. But they can't force you. It's almost entirely up to the comfort of the mother. And in some cases (Where I said Almost) an intervention is required. Which is usually mother on back with the aid of forceps or vacume etc etc.

  • @swalestacey The doctor didn't say it was the best position, she just said that it's the easiest way for the baby to come out because if you can hold your legs back it'll open the pelvis more than standing upright or on your knees. She also said her patient should do it the way she wants. She just gave some advice, like a good doctor should. ;-)

  • @venomousstrawberry Standing is better, dont forget gravity! Laying back does NOTHING!

  • @swalestacey well position is best?

  • @triniusmcwife 1/2 The best position is the one the mother feels most comfortable in. There are different benefits to different positions. Squatting is a good one as it is shown to open up the pelvis up to 30% wider and gravity helps with the positive feedback loop that fuels labor. Side-lying or being on your hands and knees can help reduce tearing. Water births also have a multitude of benefits such as lowering the mother's blood pressure and redistributing her blood flow so,

  • @triniusmcwife 2/2 if the mother does tear, she's apt to have a lower blood loss. Being on your back is not very comfortable for most pregnant women in general. A woman being comfortable is pretty crucial to a natural labor. :)

  • consider me well informed.... ive been so scared to have a baby, with so many things to worry about... this vid has made so many things clear... bless the person who posted it... i may actually be a momma one day!!!

  • Back is the worst position. But at least the doctor was calm and let her birth without interuption.

  • What adorable children!

  • The lithotomy position (the position that Trish pushes in) closes the pelvic outlet by up to 30%! Therefore, this position does NOT favor the mother or the baby. I'm appalled by Dr. Hill's selfishness and/ or ignorance!

It's amazing Trish birthed naturally, *despite* the OBs she had because every other show is either about an induction, augmentation, or C-section. I acutally clicked on this video because I couldn't believe the title -- the show Deliver Me paired with Natural Birth???

  • Trish was AMAZING!

I stopped watching this show because all of the doctors are shown to be so invasive and unsupportive of physiological birth. Dr. Hill's true colors show through when she speaks of the "horrible, horrible, horrible pressure" and especially when she flat out lies to Trish and tells her to push while lying in bed.

  • I love this show....because of Dr. Alison Hill, she's very calm and encouraging^_^

  • The doctor lied, it's the worst positin to deliver!! That position is just for the doctors' ease to see things, it's in that position that you tear the most!

But your baby is soo beautiful! congrats!

  • @pomdam21 which position is best?

  • Congratulations on your beautiful wonderful healthy baby. Congratulations, Walter!

  • That woman is briliant, that is what I want, a natural birth in hospital but i'm so scared of paint I doubt I will do it without the epidural. That midwife is annoying, she seems fake like she's thinking 'yeah i'm on tv"

  • I am afraid of the pain as well, but i think if you want it bad enough and really mentally prepare yourself, you can do it.

Note: getting an epidural is nothing to be ashamed about.

  • There is not anything to be ashamed about if you understand the risks associated with a epidural and are making an informed decision.

  • wow beautiful

  • The doctor was very encouraging.
