I have spoken into a mic too. I went to TV and Radio Broadcasting school. But thats not the point. When he yells like that...it drives his point more. And he is far from talking monotone. The variety in his voice keeps him from sounding boring. And when he interrupts his guests, its for an important reason. Either for a statistic or something very important. A lot of times what he mentions in his interruptions is something shocking that I didn't know about.
