  • i love how Vir walks like as if nothing could harm him but only because he's harmless lol, as Londo so exquisitely put it "That is why i chose you, everybody knows you are incapable of doing anything really dangerous" to which vir responds "I don't know about incapable" and then whitters on as Londo tries to ignore him lmao

  • One of the best scenes in the best TV drama ever made.

  • mr Morden, \0

  • It's a little more chilling when you realize that there are two Shadows standing just on either side of Mr. Morden right then. They heard that.

  • Fun little thing I noticed: Vir never used the words "I want" during his explanation. XD

  • @abridgedfanboy Except the part "I want to look up into your lifeless eyes...".

  • @slydragoon Actually, I think he said "Would", as in "I WOULD look into your eyes", as in he's pretty much got this fantasy mapped out. XD

  • Vir was careful what he wished for, for he did get it. Londo wasn't, and he did get it.

  • Londo in his early years never gave Vir enough credit. But he was smart enough to see though Morden's bullshit. Which is why Vir lived long passed the Shadow Wars.

  • @TheSecondEvolution And became Emperor after Lando

  • HAHAHAHAHA VICIOUS

  • Oh I never stop loving Vir!

  • This has to be Stephen Furst, crowning moment of awesome as Vir. he was always my favourite character on the show x

  • Instating Vir as president is probably the best action of the Centauri, Ever. Londo came close though when he blew up the shadows.

  • The first time I saw Stephen Furst was way back in the early '70s when "Animal house" came out.

  • @MThrow "ah yes... Mr Dorfman, TWO POINT 0 ...drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son..."- classic

  • I like this, I love this! :D So happy when Morden gets what's coming to him.

  • Why does vir hate him?

  • @RSGBadger I think he pretty much explains it right here. He doesn't like where the Centauri are going, he doesn't like that Morden and his associates are responsible for it, and he doesn't like what the price for their aid might be.

  • @FerretJohn thanks

  • @FerretJohn well said ,john.

  • This is the part where we discover Vir Cotto has a spine and actually uses it from time to time.

  • Babylon 5 is one of those rare series where you have such a high percentage of cool and well-developped characters. I'm also partial to DS9 mind you, for pretty much the same reasons.

  • I think next time a politician comes knocking on the door asking what I want, this will be my answer.

  • This May be my favorite scene in the whole series.

  • @LurkerERS This one and where Vir gets angry with the flea market vendor

  • The thing I think is best is that Vir doesn't even need to think about his answer. I imagine at some point he thought about how he would answer the question when it would come up.

  • Just think, there are two Shadows standing right there next to him, listening, watching. When anyone talks to Morden, they are in fact talking directly TO the Shadows. They are RIGHT THERE, unseen. Morden himself isn't even relevant. He's just a puppet.

  • I just saw this last night. I now love Vir forever.

  • 47DfQcHMYLY

  • ffddd

  • And as we all know, Vir did wave at Morden's head onthe spike. Toodaloo!!=Stefan=

  • Morden was one creepy-ass dude.

  • @HisDivineShadow245 But a good looking creepy dude

  • This is one of the many reasons i love Babylon 5. It have so much of characters stories not just main ones. Even if character have only few moments in storyline it tells so much about him

  • put up the scene from Interludes and Examinations! "is there anything i can do for you" ..........vir: "Um....short of dying....ay uh no!"

  • "As a reminder to the next 10 generations that some favors come at too high a price." A very wise man indeed.

  • What was Mr. Morden role in B5 he worked 4 the shadows but where did he come from what was his species.why did the pick him. And y doesen't he get his A&& kicked or killed every time he set foot on B5 when every 1 knows he works 4 d shadows. I never knew the actors name and don't remember him doing anything after this.

  • @HarPlayer Morden was Human. He was aboard the earth explorer ship Icarus together with John Sheridans wife. The Icarus' mission was to land on Z'ha'dum to examinate artifacts from a gone civilisation. The shadows captured the crew and let those alive which agreed to or were forced to work for them. Mr Morden was some kind of Ambassador for the Shadows, which always try to stay hidden. So they used Morden to speak for them.

  • In all the times I watched this scene I never noticed that Morden is flipping the bird to Vir when he is holding the crystal.

  • Mr. Morden has such an evil presences. Awesome character!

  • Damn...this was the greatest show of all time. Too bad not a lot of people know about it.

  • There is a phrase that TVTropes uses for scenes like this. It is known as a "Crowning Moment of Awesome".

What's fantastic about B5 is that there are many more Crowning Moments of Awesome dispersed throughout the series. Someone needs to compile a video list of them all, in the interests of general knowledge.

  • Possibly my favorite Vir moment!

  • Vir had spectactular writing. The brilliance of Babylon 5 was in the supporting characters and how fascinating they were. It's too bad they went and screwed up Lennier in that final season. That's the one gaff i think the creative team made. Lennier would've NEVER done that stuff...

  • @Stigmatainmypants Oh but that is the glory of Stratzinski's masterpiece...

the characters were far more than the 2 dimensional characters of other franchises, they were deep, transformational. Not one character remained a static entity unchanged throughout the run of the saga.

Lennier got caught up in the twisty tides of unrequited love and did something that no one, not even he expected, and he almost immediately realized his shame for doing so.

  • @Incitatus4 See, now i thought it was pretty firmly established Lennier was never into Delenn in THAT way. I always felt like the any potential for such feelings between the was quashed early on.. I just didn't buy that Lennier's character had any basis TO progress in the manner it did in Season 5. Seemed like the writer just ran out of stories to tell, and had to figure out something to do with Lennier so POOF suddenly he was jealous of Sheridan.

  • @Stigmatainmypants: Lenier's statement to Marcus about his feelings for Delenn did not mean that he was not that he was not in love with her, it was to indicate that it wasn't all about physicality (season 3?). In one scene from the series (on the white star when they go after the shadow ship on Io), where Sheridan and Delenn have a moment, Lenier can be seen in the background shaking his head. Lenier's feelings for her were pretty clear from season 3 on, you just had to recognize the signs.

  • @Stigmatainmypants grrr "did not mean that he was not in love with her"

  • ..."I want to look up into your lifeless eyes, and wave, just like this:"

I remember watching Vir walk out into the Garden in 4x06 when it originally aired, I was just oozing with the hope it was.....and it was.....Morden's head on a pike.

  • 0:01

  • Vir is my favorite male character from B5

  • Guess sometimes the Shadows don't like the answer to their great question.....

  • Best. Vir scene. Ever.

  • You have give Babylon 5 props, it really did have some memorable scenes. Thanks for posting this scene of Vir, truly one of his best scenes.

  • Somehow Vir reminds me of Columbo.

  • The thing about this show are the exellent storyline

and its brilliant actors, I have this on DVD all 5 seasons¨

and I cannot stop watching it though I know the plot by heart.

  • Well Mr. Morden and his associates didn't give Vir what he wanted, but the Universe sure as hell did deliver.

  • @smcneal057 Well, not quite: Vir lived quite a bit longer after that.

  • i LOVED the fact that Vir got his wish..AND he did what he said he would...did give a little wave to his lifeless eyes hahaha

  • Love how morden is flipping vir off when be pulls out the crystel

  • Yup very subtle but speaks volumes about how he feels about Vir's wish for what he wants...

Vir gets he reward in the end

  • Never caught that. Awesome!!!

  • It's good to have a goal. . .

  • out of all the people Morden asked that question, Vir was the only one who got exactly what he wanted :)

  • I never noticed that before you mentioned it! :-)

    cool!

  • One of the best pieces of dialogue out of the series. I knew JMS had something good in mind for Vir after I saw this- from a charicter I never expected to grow a pair.

JMS is a great writer. And the fact that he had Harlan Ellison whispering in his ear on B5 didn't hurt..

  • Harlan Ellison is also they guy that called up steven speilberg and told him germins wouldnt work cause they could walk thru snow....sometimes the best informed people dont know everything

  • @zootube323 yes he is, ds9 plagarised b5, but the difference in writing couldn't be more obvious. JMS is brilliant.

  • was it by design that all characters on B5 had some degree of badass? or was it just coincidence?

  • @ginsengaddict They tried to make every character have a bit of badass

  • I love Vir. That is all.

  • "I would look up into your lifeless eyes and wave like this." LOL!

  • I just realized that Morden is giving Vir the finger when he gives him the data crystal!!!

  • I loved this Episode. Probably in the Top 10 for the series. This scene was very good. But you had to love Capt. Sheridan interrogating Morden about his wife's ship disappearing years before in which Morden was also onboard.

  • I wish they had added the scene where the event actually happens.

  • @Robikus that would have been sooooooo funny

  • Comment removed

  • @msanniemc - I know what you mean - I'm very fond of Vir, too. I've basically discovered B5 relatively recently, and just finished watching Season 3. Up till this point, this particular scene is still one of my favorites.

  • My favorite scene is when Delenn comes in to rescue Bab5 and says,

"Only one Human captain has ever survived battle with a Minbari fleet. He is behind me. You are in front of me. If you value your lives, be somewhere else!"

    Gotta love Delenn.

  • Yep. She's a badass.

  • naaa.... delenn sucks ;(

Vir, Lenir, Molari and G'kar were far more superior to Delenn - even with her saying that line...

that was most likely the only line that make ppl like her, but in fact she was something.... overrated

  • @Robikus Actually, It was "Minbari Cruiser". She was called the "Black Star". That was why Pres. Sheridan was called "The Star Killer". Annlashauk, "We live for the One, We die for the One". As G'akar observed; " It is interesting that you put more emphasis on the former, rather than the latter". Just an observation of mine. "Noone ever won a war bye dying for his country. He won the war bye making the other poor bastard die for his country". Gen. G.S. Patton. =Stefan=

  • @chengloki I stand corrected. Great scene.

  • @ShadeToSun At that, we both agree. Actually, (and I may lose my card as a "Deep Trekker", I miss B-5 more than Trek). B-5 is like reading a novel. Open the book and enjoy. (Yes, I prefer the hard copy in my hands rather than the screen). I'm a dinosaur. =Stefan=

  • @Robikus Mine too. :)

  • As it is writtne: "And the first shall be the last, and the last, first".

  • ^_^

  • The look on his face. Cause he knows that they've given everything asked of them before.

  • One of my favorite scenes, and definitely one of Vir's finest moments. An underrated character who finally becomes Emperor.

    Thanks, eugene.

  • B5 was an amazing series, the plot was fantastic.

Some of the acting was a little cheesy towards the beginning, but a lot of it was cleaned up as the seasons.

  • greater than battlestar

  • have the joy of fx showing BAB 5 again just love the show

  • @BlastEMFF

have to agree! and even better we get to watch in widescreen now!

  • I get to see it on a 42" LCD.

    :D

  • this ends pretty scary, wenn the shadows are beaten and the head of morden is on that spike on centaury-prime... i nearly pissed myself when vir waved at it then :D such a great show!!! goddamit why that fuckin "crusader"?! it destroyed all the spirit! they should have stopped after season5

  • They should've stopped after season 4, but that's just me.

  • I kinda agree with you but just in michael starkynskis (I don't know if that's the right spelling) he wrote a series that lasted five years but was told by his bosses to cut it down to four years so he rewrote some of it. But then they told him they wanted a five year series, at that point too much had happened to go back to the original script. Apparently the original series 4 ended with sheridan being captured by the earth government

  • On the season 3 commentary, Ed Wassler (Morden) stated it was hard to stay in character when working with Vir, he did it so well it was easy to start to laugh with the subtle comments, mannerisms, and one-liners. "Anything I can do for you Vir?" "Apart from dying, no."

  • I love this show I remeber my dad watch ing it on Space when I was 6 or 7 now I'm 14 and I love it my dad bought the first three seasons of it from HMV were just looking for season 4 and 5

  • @Amanda2386 my dad wached star treck but i wached b5 i didnt like star wars but stare treck was not bad but b5 was more real the tec was perfect

  • and he gets he wish............

  • Babylon 5 was THE best SciFi show ever. The fact that the entire concept came about in "one perfect moment" and was then fleshed out over time is amazing. The storyline had a beginning, and middle, and an end. Everything fit together from start to finish and THAT is very rare of TV shows in any genre.

  • I am one of the few of my friends that stuck with B5 from start to finish. Loved it! Vir added comic relief at times to Londo's dark side. Stephen Furst's comic talent is amazing and Kudos to him. Vir had me laughing most of the time and the way he played against Lennier and Garabaldi was priceless. Live long Vir

  • the whole tv seris was written as one arc in one go before even one sceane was even filmed.

  • Vir was such a great character.. is typical good and honest heart guy who can shows a necesary dark side once really pused. Not a demon and not a pussy either..

He probably was the best Centaury emperor ever

  • Vir was possibly the only person who was happy getting what he asked Morden for..... !!!!!

  • @knoxvilleguy2 ya and he is the most inocent of all charecters on b5

  • @knoxvilleguy2: Yep

  • @bannedbyMusloons

    Vir had cojones..... !!!

  • @knoxvilleguy2

In the end, no side won, neither the Vir's Centauri nor the Shadows and their servant races.

  • b5 rocks

  • One of the few times Vir shows a bloodthirsty side.

Personally, my favorite Vir moment was in season 5, when he went after the Drazi merchant with a sword.

    But this is good, too.

  • love vir's little reminding wave at the end of the scene . " can you and your associates arange that for me " great writing

  • Big B5 fan here too. Never get tired of watching it on my DVDs. Great, under appreciated series.

This clip of Vir and Morden is great! Thanks!

  • i LOVE it in season 4 when he gets his wish :D

  • foos75:

Karma's a real bitch. Morden found that out, & Vir rather enjoyed the lesson.

  • I like all the characters on Babylon 5 but I love Vir so much! He's the sweetest, best guy ever. I'd like to just give him a big hug! I adore him! <3

  • I've been working my way through Babylon 5 and Vir continues to endear himself to me. I find myself wanting to give him a big hug, too!

  • Flounder!

  • I just shit brix

  • i love vir

  • I LOVE the way Vir deals with Morden!

1:09 - 1:55 is my favorite part. LMAO!!!

  • Nice foreshadow into the series. I think Morden was pissed when Vir said that to him.

  • vir is right. some favors do have to high a price

  • -Claps-

    BEST VIR MOMENT EVER!

  • I loved that part. It is part of my favorite quotes.

  • This show was great. Ahead of its time. :)

  • is it my imagination or did vir lose alot of weight between two of the seasons??

  • " I'd look into your dead eyes & wave ( gives little wave ) like this. Can you do this for me, Mr. Morden ? ". Vir was showing that he had cajones !!

How come Sci Fi doesn't show B5 anymore ? Or TVLand? Anyone..... ?

  • Probably since its 10 years old, i would like see them finish of B5:Crusade.

  • PantsuGirl:

It's been 10 years since Crusade ? No kidding? That show had POTENTIAL, but Ted Turner & TNT pulled the plug, buried an axe in its head, put a pillow over Crusade's face & killed it. They wanted a ST: Voyager clone.

  • i'm a huge B5 fan but lets be honest crusade was a bit shit. even the setup movie a call to arms was pure shit. i mean the shadow cloud having weapons inside it?? please. where were those weapons in 'into the fire'?

  • Yeah, TNT wanted to turn it into a " jiggle show ", like Voyager was becoming after Jeri Ryan's arrival. This is one time continuity went out the window. Continuity was usually a big element in the B5 universe.

  • I have seen several sci-fi shows (all modern STs, both Galacticas, Firefly, etc) and Babylon 5 is by far the more exquisite and precise in continuity.. there is some small details that can even be worked out..

  • B5 will always get my vote. Some of the Star Trek's don't even get a nod from me.

RDM's Galactica will, though. I think Moore borrowed some ideas from B5's story & plot.

  • Ed Wasser is just fantastic in this role. . . 5 X 5. . .

  • One of my favourite scenes

  • Loved Vir.Without a doubt ,this was his moment of glory

  • Yeah, this is my favorite Vir moment. He's so... I don't know, there's just something about Vir that I really like.

  • He's just so human! XD

  • 1:35

    Morden gave Vir the finger

    lol

  • I love it that Vir actually does wave at him like that.

  • Hahaha! This is awesome!

  • YeeeHarrr. Way to go Vir!

  • Yep. You tell him, Flounder!

  • If more people were like Vir and less like Londo, the world wouldn't be in the kind of mess as it is today. History has shown all forms of society asks for too many favors and all too often, a price too high for any of us to pay and thus countless lives are lost because of it.

B5 was a sci fi show that focused on characters and spirituality. This makes it a far more intelligent show than all those who focused so much on techno-crap.

  • Great comment!

I've watched my Babylon 5 DVD sets maybe 9 times. There is something in the whole series that is like a mythology or some ancient religious texts full of symbolism. I just keep watching them now and then like some people read their religious texts searching for some more symbolic meaning to make vague sense or humanity.

There were a handful of filler episodes but overall, the series just contains a deeper mythological level revealing human nature in all it's complexity.

  • I so agree!

  • perhaps mr morden should not have asked vir 'what do u want' lol

  • Yeah :)

Asking Vir that question was a huge mistake.

  • lol, sit he say he talks like vir is a dog

  • Did anyone notice how those who answered the question the shadows asked: "What do you want?" Got what they asked for, and out of the three who answered Lando, Ge'kar, and Vir only one was happy with the answer namely Vir.

  • lol

Yea Vir's comment here is one of the best lines in the series....

Its awsome that what Vir askes actually happens to Mr. Morden

    Pay backs a Bitch!

  • I love this moment.. And then to actually see it happen in Season 4! I definitely love the continuity. It's alot more than what I can say for other erm, science fiction series.. ;;>>

  • fucking loved b5 shame crusade only lasted 13 episodes i was getting into it :(

  • Worst thing is that Crusade would have gotten much more intresting after those filmed episode (scripts..). Excalibur going renegade, cure for plague after first season isn't all great, EA's dark Shadow-experiments etc.

  • I was actually loking forward to when he actually did it, that would have been five stars from me still Vir is one of the best. Im going thru all seasons for the third time now and has just past this in Season 4 and now the war has ended ...

  • Exactly the scene I was looking for. I shall add it to my favorites.

  • what a great scene

  • I always wondered about Mister Morden's name, because in the german language 'morden' means 'to murder (sb)'... did JMS think about that or did he just liked the sound of the name?

  • Vir is awesome! I wanted to hug him after watching this!

  • a fat idiot? he's one of the smartest characters in his species... just too passive towards others.

  • "Vir" aka Stephen Furst was only a "fat idiot" in Animal House. :P

  • Vir and this video's views are OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAND!!!!

I love it when Vir decides to go from quiet and shy to awesome like this.

  • I love how morden slips the "finger" in there.lol

  • That is one of the best parts in B5! XD
