  • You could try a medium sized Fresnel lens for super efficiency.

Where did you got the engine from? Did you built it? It looks so neatly built.

  • I built the engine from bits of off-cuts, the cylinder is an old diesel engine valve guide and the flywheel is a valve hand wheel with a short length of pipe shrunk on etc. I have tried a Freznel lens from an old overhead projector and although it was larger, the results were poor. Another of my videos shows this engine driving a pump.

  • What a lovely little engine.

You even have a counterbalance for the lens! Nice.

  • Have a look at one of my other videos, it shows this engine driving a small pump.

  • I had an idea a few years back to build one using black metal hot box & the earth for the cool side but never got around to building one. Great experiment.

  • awesome! can it generate power or do u just have it set up to run? i should probably make something like this

  • The lens is much to small to generate any power as it is now. The engine does 10 times this speed on a candle and will generate about 1 watt. People have tried for years with Stirling engines but not got very far.

  • hmmm, ty for the info.

  • That is great cam gear! it looks like something from Brazil!~the movie.

  • Great work like this inspires people. Thanks!

  • this is a really good idea, with the lense
