I just spent about an hour reading about the Spiderman universe. I didn't know much about it beforehand. And it seems like Carnage is the most facinating character in the Marvel universe. I don't think many people realize that there are literally a few dozen different characters that spawned from Carnage, including Fantastic Four's Silver Surfer! Who knew?

I thought that they had to add Venom because Fox wanted to make a separate movie and the rights would be up if they didnt include him. Because they crammed too much crap into the movie. You have three different 'bad guy" storylines that deserved their own time, and it was all squished together. They also slutted out Gwen Stacy, who -- for any die hard Spidey fan -- the actual true romance of Peter's life. Finally, they kill off Harry -- who is Peter's life long friend, and they kill off Venom. There is no need to kill everything off with sequels!
Agreed but they weren't following the comics properly with Harry's death he died in an explosion trying to save peter because he came to his senses for a while because he was under the influence of the Green Goblin formula.

Lizard and Carnage would be the most accurate villains to put in Spider Man 4. Basically the symbiote that Connors has from Spider Man 3, would get out, cause him to become the Lizard, while the symbiote would then attach to Cassidy.

Sand Man should have been the only villain in the 3rd movie. It would have worked out fine that way if they took out the dancing and saved Harry's transformation into the Goblin for the 4th or 5th movie. They should have focused more on Harry trying to get OSCORP out of financial troubles, since the company lost millions of dollars in the 2nd movie. It could have ended with either Harry accepting his destiny by becoming the new Goblin, or with Eddie Brock becoming Venom for the first time.
the movie would have been much better if it just had venom in it to me. the only thing wrong with that is, they fucked up venom. Venom was sissified in the movie. but venom was more menacing a faithful and he was the only villain, then the movie would have rocked.
No, the lizard is Dr. Conners. Peter Parkers college professor. I think he somehow lost his arm and was trying to splice lizard DNA (cause they can regenerate limbs) to grow it back. Something went wrong (as usual) and he became the Lizard.
From what I heard, Venom, if not Eddie Brock as well, was thrown in from studio pressure despite Raimi's objections. If that is the case, it certainly makes sense that Brock's arc seemed convoluted and didn't fit with the rest of the story.
I am by no means making myself some kind of reporter on the matter, it's only what I heard.

I don't know if I'll be going to see the fourth one. As someone who's favorite villain was Venom, I was extremely dissapointed with the 3rd movie. The skinnier Venom I can look past but it just feels like they shoved him in to say "Look, Venom!" and then kill him off. I think it'd work if instead of having him killed off since he only has like 30 minutes in teh actual film, let him roll on into the next film. Although I thought the Willem Dafoe was an excellent Goblin, along with Molena.

I just spent about an hour reading about the Spiderman universe. I didn't know much about it beforehand. And it seems like Carnage is the most facinating character in the Marvel universe. I don't think many people realize that there are literally a few dozen different characters that spawned from Carnage, including Fantastic Four's Silver Surfer! Who knew?
But they keep mentioning Lizard. And like Sam said, they've done enough background on the human side of Lizard.

a friend who owns a comic shop where i live... he knows some one who is currently working with sony/columbia... and he told me that toby wont be in the new one ... and the creator of the symboite and venom ... didnt agree to use them in any movie... the guy who created venom didnt want venom to be in the 3rd one ... he wanted them to wait a little before they introduce venom... and maybe carnage but they didnt and they should have listened to him, but oh well im not 100% sure but we'll see :D

I thought that they had to add Venom because Fox wanted to make a separate movie and the rights would be up if they didnt include him. Like the 70's Spider-man movies and that horrible fantastic four movie, etc were made so they wouldn't lose the rights...I guess they expire whenever. It makes sense as too much was going on in SM3, like the comics he should have stayed in the suit for rest of the movie and not got so hot headed so fast

Because they crammed too much crap into the movie. You have three different 'bad guy" storylines that deserved their own time, and it was all squished together. They also slutted out Gwen Stacy, who -- for any die hard Spidey fan -- the actual true romance of Peter's life. Finally, they kill off Harry -- who is Peter's life long friend, and they kill off Venom. There is no need to kill everything off with sequels!

Lizard and Carnage would be the most accurate villains to put in Spider Man 4. Basically the symbiote that Connors has from Spider Man 3, would get out, cause him to become the Lizard, while the symbiote would then attach to Cassidy.

Sand Man should have been the only villain in the 3rd movie. It would have worked out fine that way if they took out the dancing and saved Harry's transformation into the Goblin for the 4th or 5th movie. They should have focused more on Harry trying to get OSCORP out of financial troubles, since the company lost millions of dollars in the 2nd movie. It could have ended with either Harry accepting his destiny by becoming the new Goblin, or with Eddie Brock becoming Venom for the first time.

No, the lizard is Dr. Conners. Peter Parkers college professor. I think he somehow lost his arm and was trying to splice lizard DNA (cause they can regenerate limbs) to grow it back. Something went wrong (as usual) and he became the Lizard.

From what I heard, Venom, if not Eddie Brock as well, was thrown in from studio pressure despite Raimi's objections. If that is the case, it certainly makes sense that Brock's arc seemed convoluted and didn't fit with the rest of the story.

I don't know if I'll be going to see the fourth one. As someone who's favorite villain was Venom, I was extremely dissapointed with the 3rd movie. The skinnier Venom I can look past but it just feels like they shoved him in to say "Look, Venom!" and then kill him off. I think it'd work if instead of having him killed off since he only has like 30 minutes in teh actual film, let him roll on into the next film. Although I thought the Willem Dafoe was an excellent Goblin, along with Molena.
