Series creator Richard Shapiro announced earlier this year that a made-for-the-big screen Dynasty prequel is in the works. ABC News reported that the movie will be set in the 1960s and focus on Blake and Alexis' relationship, and his and Denver Carrington's rise to prominence. It was also noted that a made-for-TV Dynasty-inspired series is being considered. DALLAS is poised to return on TNT as the next generation of Ewings come of age.
@SoapOperaSpectacular Oh I'm sorry. But you gotta get this I was 15 years old when I played this song by ear on the piano, I played it for my mom on Mother's Day in May of 2009 and on her birthday on Decmeber 20, 2009.
Being on different networks it would've never happened, but I would've loved to have seen a "crossover" episode (or two) between Dallas and Dynasty where J.R. Ewing and Alexis would face off...but, then again, there probably wouldn't have been much of a face off between them; they'd most likely would've JUST ended up in bed together.
I also hated how they done away with Lloyd Bochner's character. Cecil Colby was to Blake Carrington like Cliff Barnes was to J.R. Ewing.
@badabing003 I Know i feel the same way about Lloyd Bochner's Character, Cecil Colby after that i would not watch it till the 5th and 6th Seasons and the The Colby's was pretty good too
I grew up in the 80's and it was a great time. And everyone knew that JR from Dallas was the biggest Bastard on tv and Alexis held the crown for Queen Bitch LOL
Yeah the opening credits were kind of glamourous. How the other lived namely the rich and the beautiful. I grew up watching this like yourself but its not the same anymore watching it now, the opening credits are just nostalgic.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the only season in which Joan Collins' character was billed as "Alexis Carrington" instead of just "Alexis". As well, I think this was the only season in which she was not last in the opening credits>
@jasoncarly She did start appearing in the show in Season 2, but she didn't get a shot in the opening until Season 4, and didn't appear every season in the opening until Season 6.
the girls were smokin hot in this show; pamela bellwood, joan collins and of course the hottie heather locklear. i could not wait for those hot babes. they were in sane sexy.
Dynasty was a part of my childhood. My family would gather around the television set every Wednesday night and watch Krystle and Alexis duke it out, Blake close an oil deal, or watch Steven break up with one of his many women and men. It was the show of shoulder pads, poofy hair, diamonds, champagne, caviar, yachts, jets, and mansions. Dynasty was the 1980s and nothing can ever top this show by today's comparisons.
@Kildruf79 OMG Same with my family. My Mom hates anything about Joan Collins, but I've always LOVED Joan Collins BECAUSE of Dynasty and the old Cinzano ads in the UK!
Did anyone notice that the trumpet player in that performed in the 2nd season cut had a MUCH brighter sound but his approach the the arpeggiated section was much smoother. Over all the more rounded sound from season 1 guy was nicer, I think... but the delivery in Season 2 was better. It seems like the accompaniment was "pushed back" a bit in season 2; the guy's sound was so bright and it seemed like it might get lost in the orchestra in his upper register. Anyone hear that?
I was born in 1972 and the opening credits still move me - the aerial fly-over of the house, the sky-scrapers, the tuxedo-clad men and be-diamond women, and the music....oh that music!
Everything about it just generated a sense of, well, majesty.
Sure - the soap opera stories leave something to be desired, but the opening scene was an absolute masterpiece!
@deniseaustinlover Yeah you got it! It is pure majesty. I remember watching it very Friday nights with my family. Didn't really understand entirely it back then as was wee too young hehe. Dallas was a fav too! Just wanted to be apart of the wealth, posh cars, mansions, yachts & of course the beautiful people. I liked the Colbys too which was a bit of a disaster but still loved it hehe. American soaps back then were great not the rubbish that is on now.
@Topboy32 Indeed. And look at John Forsythe's character Blake in the opening credits - suave and sophisticated yet still a man with a lot of testosterone, i.e., the guy has managed to retain his balls!
Great opening though I hate soap

I know there's a similar sounding theme to Dynasty but I can't put my finger on it. Thought it was West Wing but I was wrong!

It is not shown in Norway anymore. NRK who broadcasted it has shown the whole series 3 times now. They are currently airing Dallas.
