No, it was definitely a firework. The glowing thing is an artifact caused by reflections within the lens from the extremely bright flash as it explodes... I've seen the same thing with my cameras when filming things like electric arcs... you see a ghost of the brightest bit of the image just below and prior to the main image.

I'm an AMA menber, but honestly the only benefit I could see in it is the $2M in insurance you get for being a member, just incase your plane goes down and causes a bunch of damage, like if it goes down on a busy highway and causes a wreck. Additionally, most club-owned flying fields won't let you fly w/o an AMA membership. I probably won't be renewing my membership this coming year though.
