what people dont realise is that prices are cheeper for ANYTHIING online, purely because the companys online dont have to pay as many staff or dont have as many stores open, look for any product that companys such as dixons and pc world sell online and comapare the prices with places like amazon or ebuyer, of course ebuyer and amazon are going to be cheeper.
@parasoulknight Actually, you should check before you post. Maplins do overcharge. for example xbox360 wireless controllers in there are £39. everywhere else they are about £24-29 and the special one with the changing Dpad AND a play and charge battery/cable is £40 in Tesco's Maplins £39 one is just a common white one with no battery pack.
The staff are terrible also, they look at you like youre about to steal everything and talk down to you like they know better
@danguy2009 in all fairness where else do you find cheeper componants? especially at a store that you can just walk in, i have had many amazing experiences at maplin. especially with the staff, they are friendly and happy to help with just about anything, did you even read what i said of course tesco can afford to sell items like that for cheeper, just look at them, how many stores do tesco have in the uk compared to maplin anyway? who goes into maplin to buy xbox equiptment anyway?
@parasoulknight I agree about the components like resistors and capacators but for most acessories eBay will be cheaper.
I based my comment on experiences I have had in stores like the staff telling me I needed something and when I said no, i need something else. I got the impression that I was an idiot that didn't know what I wanted.
Obviously people do buy Xbox stuff from them otherwise they would pull them from their inventory due to no sales.
I remember when Maplin were still cheap! 3p for a resistor that they charge 24p for now, whilst rolls of 10/0.2 equipment wire have quadrupled in price in less than a decade. The jump starters they sell are total shit (check my YouTube review) but they deny it. RS used to be the Robbing Sods, but RS and CPC/Farnell now wipe the floor with Maplin's prices.
Maplins used to be synonymous with quality ,now they are selling rubbish,3 recently bought items failed and I returned them, they said Oh that`s not happened before, later heard to say that`s another one returned, and as for selling the most rubbish tools on the market,Rolson are truly rubbish,Maplins used to sell really good quality tools and equipment but now its cheap rubbish at inflated prices Eg battery tester Rolson in Maplins £2-00 more than in Qd stores, so shop round and stuff Maplins!
maplins isn't that Bad, but they need to get their acts together though i suppose, the B grades don't work and they haven't tested them properly lol don't go wasteing you're time on those B grades
@womblediehard Yeah to buy something second hand. You do know you get laughed at when you come into a store and complain about the prices. People want anything for nothing.
Maplins prices have gotten ridiculous over the last years. they used to be cheap, now they are downright rude in their charging !
eg:
HDMI to HDMI 1.5m cable
Code: L71BL £29.99
DISGRACE !
Just like Ikea and Richer Sounds they initially bring in the cusomers with decent, reasonable prices then through the years hike up the prices whilst keeping the dumb publics trust and loyalty. We are such suckers
@sweetypie000 Do you have any proof of that item's price "over the last years"? . Probably not; maybe you are old and not used to the new money ! . Dont mis use caps lock. . . Cheers. from, del-boy.
@sweetypie000 dont buy that one........ and considering they have been around since the 70's the prices have remained reasonable, i agree some things are ridiculous but in whole far better than most stores, do what smart people do and shop around, if you dont like the price of something, dont buy it, that will have a better affect than complaining about it because the company will think, "huh, now why isnt this selling? is it too expensive?" and they will lower the price, but in all, SHOP AROUND
lol!

hey man.
thats my local store.
maplins is good on certain things and not so good on other items.
prices vary depending on what you want. but buying online will be cheaper regardless of the retail outlet, simply because they dont have to serve.

What was the point of this video?
As for Maplin, dont bother they don't have it.
and the only answer you get from the staff is
"have you looked on the internet"?..........why do i bother.
