I did get the joke (I'm British).. although I have to say, it wasn't.. THAT funny.

There must have been a chicken in the fridge (prepared), so obviously it needed to be killed.. so the parrot's asking what did it do that you killed it..

i dont mean to rude but the punchline is pretty clear. When the parrot was in the freezer he saw a frozen chicken and he thought the chicken was thrown in there to be punished like him, so he asked what was it that the chicken did to be thrown in the freezer.
