  • Mr. Hitchens has done his work effortlessly, spreading the reality and truth of his word, which will resonate forever in time, for all to cherish and remember him by.

  • Will Vanity Fair publish his writings in a book? I would definitely buy that. Anyone know?

  • I would want to see a movie made about Hitchens, with Bruce Willis as Hitchens...

  • God is fiction.

  • @duckdown1993 I agree with you... Fuck you gattaca!

  • Holy crap! I just looked at CNN and Kim Jong Il, dictator of North Korea, has died! Such timing, after Hitch, who liked to compare religiosity to NK.

  • RIP

  • wtf there are comments with more likes than the ones above what is this?

  • I love this guy. Wish him the best of luck

  • @liberalmatt saw your message about your father passing, and wanted to offer my condolences to you.

    All the best,

    Mike

  • Jones mispronounces A.J. Ayer's last name (it rhymes with hair, not fire) and Hitchens casually drops in his name in his reply, both correcting the pronunciation and referring to him as his friend, Freddie Ayer.

  • Too bad Hitchens never took the time to think intelligently that chain smoking can give you cancer. Thats not so intelligent is it M. Hitchens. you arrogant son of a bitch but I respect you for staying true to atheism all those years and especially now near your death.

  • I was born Christian and that's all I know. Chris intelligence is a gift to humanity. I hope he'll live much much longer. He is the Enlightenment to mankind. A Truly amazing and brilliant man.

  • Hitchens has great style but on his stances there are problems. 1. He ignores the big issues of our day (immigration, demography). Is he for or against the 3rd world tidal wave or not? He won't say probably to save his rapport with theVF set. 2. He wants the US army to be the world's police force forever it seems (evn tho were broke).

  • what an amazing thinker! the world has been so lucky to have CH grace it.

  • He's made several comments about looking young. Is he gay? I've only noticed gay men obsessing with their appearance like that.

  • @samslick90 He has written of homosexual experiences when he was younger. However, he has married with children.

  • the people who are praying so that Hitchens go to hell are really ignorants and are not saved themselves! I am a christian and i wish im the best sincerely!!

  • @eeam1

I am a muslim and I second that:)

  • I'm not going to say 'how can we continue to fight the fight if you die?' I know, Mr. Hitchens, it is because you were on earth we will be able to continue fighting.

  • dont die, you sonofabitch

  • Does anyone know how I can E-mail him! I want to tell him that im rooting for him he is truly amazing. The best of Luck to him

  • I dont have cancer, and i cant get out of bed before 11. :(

  • how does the interviewer know that "there are many more praying for Hitchens to get well than there are praying he go`s to hell"? more pro religious propaganda, I am surprised Hitchens let that remark go,

  • .... Haha, the birds and the bees will explain number 1 nicely, and that death is a natural part of life and nothing goes on forever. Don't need a "magic" book or those that read it to explain anything...

  • @QuestionForAtheists To enjoy everything we have. Don't you want your kids to see a sunset or feel love?

  • My father died today - and in many ways watching Hitchens, facing his own reality with an objective and reasoned outlook - is helping to deal with it in a small, yet significant way...

    Thank you, Christopher.

  • @liberalmatt

I am very sorry for your loss - my best friends mum is very close

with leukemia and `i am a full believer in TED - and a disease/pain

alleviated future - i have solace in the fact you've found some solace via Mr Hitchens...

if you click my icon - I have many great Hitchens lists and positive stuff,...

all the best in the near ~& far future. he is an inspiration to many - but recently `i have actually adopted 500-1000 words a day as a writer.... Duncan (MrDespo3) x

  • @liberalmatt Sorry about your dad.

  • My God....I have never heard such profound words in a very long, long time. I am doubtful of organized religions but the Creator is very kind to make such a fine specimen as "Hitchens"; one of few "enlightened Souls" of our time. "...escorting me from the land of the well to the land of the diseased" - jerked me off to reality and I am still not 30! You gave me a gentle nudge to read more about Jefferson & Paine. Get well soon, as mortal, I can only pray to GOD for your well being!

  • Best way to face death, we can only hope to be as strong as him in our last moments

  • @shockofgod your willingness to laugh at a man who faces death with bravery is further proof of exactly how "humble"(arrogant) and "kind"(petty) those of your religion really are. May the Flying Spaghetti Monster's noodly appendage absolve you of your arrogant ways. R'amen

  • A horrible fate.. Tragic.

  • Hitchens' death will deeply sadden me

  • @theCuno100-On all religions origins and evils mine is not an opinion. Pray to whom you love, but know your attempts are those of the deluded, no more based in reality than a Jews or a Muslims.

  • @intodustanddeath

    Or scientologists lol

  • @theCuno100-Judaism is the first and most evil cult, infecting all major religions. The worlds diaspora against the cult of the Jew is testament to its utter evil. But that is not our discussion, is it? Christianity is a product of Judaism, as is Islam, and both these bastard children of evil hold within their books of faith and their filthy representatives the cultural evil that the god of the universe chose them to cleanse the world. Through militia, through terror, all the same, all the same.

  • @theCuno100-Yes. They deserve the death of the deluded. And get off your Christian martyr soapbox, know your current events, for every dead christian there are ten dead Muslims killed by Christians. The circle of the psychotic. You are the problem-the ignorant pseudo christian, who knows nothing of what you really ascribe to. A kid, someone brainwashed into believing now there's an epic struggle. And I'll answer the question I posed to you, Yahweh is your delusion because you were born into it.

  • @theCuno100-Islam, Christianity, Taoism, all of it, is an escape-easily debunked superstition’s. What the ignorant find difficult to understand they label god, it began with simple cloud formations and thunder, crop infestations and the like and moved up the intellectual latter as cultures evolved. The deluded in Egypt killing the deluded occurs in reality because there is no god, period, only human delusion expressed as violent psychosis. Tell me why do you chose Yahweh and not Mithraism?

  • @theCuno100 Completely illogical post. What are you crapping on about. Nonsense.

  • @theCuno100-Two Value logically fallacy the either or syndrome practiced by the ignorant and the idiot alike. But I'll educate you a bit. Christianity is in its swan years, having plodded through its fundamental adolescence, many hundreds of years ago (we all remember the rats in bags tied to children's heads, don't we?). As such no christian society exists today, what is left instead is the fallout christian, the fearful, ignorant, uneducated, causeless fool-to be manipulated by in whole by me.

  • @theCuno100-Ask your question, again, as I have no fucking idea what your talking about? Unlike you I spend time in real debate, pissing on you was just that. So ask again and I will gladly wipe my ass with your ideology.

  • @theCuno100-Pre-fool, tell mom to get back on the street and get you out of her basement. Your a child.

  • @HULLOHULLO15 got to whitepages (dot) com , search his name , he is listed there and you can get his address ,

    get well soon christopher

  • Where can I get his address, or alike, to write to him?

  • I only recently discovered Hitchens. In a few days, I got to learn more about his thoughts and strong stance on religion. I was devastated to find out today he was also afflicted with this disease. I can feel this growing respect and concern for a man who seems to personalize both great integrity and great courage. We badly need people like him. I can only wish him well and hope he will still light the way for an intelligent and dignified life for yet a few more years.

  • @45gattaca

Oh shut the fuck up. The man is a fucking journalist OK. God, get over yourself with talk about how courageous he is. The man sits at a computer and writes above-average articles for vanity fair. You have no clue what real courage actually is...

  • @duckdown1993

Piss off, moron, I invest my interest where I bloody well please, thank you... What the hell do you dig stuff up from 6 months ago, anyway? And don't lecture me about courage, go get a life instead.... that's ridiculous...

  • @45gattaca

I'm sorry. I just found it disturbing that you'd look at columnist for Vanity Fair as a paragon of courage and integrity. I'm trying to alert you to the sickness you have and, hopefully, maybe bring you out of it.

  • @duckdown1993 OK, just realized my comment was on page 1... I couldn't see why anyone would dig it up .... To answer your query, I don't think the guy was necessarily a parangon of virtue. For all I know drinking was his meekest vice. But i still think we need somebody who stands frim against organized religion and he did a good and proud job, in the face of the collective meekness regarding these issues. As ffor courage i had watched a

  • ... a few vids of his regarding his cancer, and sorry if this bothers you but talking about courage when dealing about cancer is quite the norm. Let's get over it, shall we?

Anyway, I am truly very sad he passed away. Call me softy, even a Vanity Fair writer deserves a bit of compassion.

  • @45gattaca

Lol, we live in a secular society! Religion has been on the decline for at least the last century! Every value our society champions is completely anti-thetical to the values of the major religions! These are all long term trends so I don't see how one can honestly say that taking a stand against religion is noble or even necessary at all for that matter.

  • @duckdown1993

Well, given the fact that an atheist would have virtually no chance of winning the presidential election in the States against someone who believes in a god, given that muslim religion is doing a nice comeback to affairs in the Middle east, given that the next World War could well start because of ancient hatreds in Israel, etc... I certainly don't don't think the world is a secular place yet... So yeah, noble (religion is enslavement) and necessary (it's very actual)

  • @45gattaca

One couldn't win an election on a platform of globalization either, but we're increasingly headed towards a world where national economies are bound up with one another nonetheless. What makes a candidate popular doesn't have much to do with the direction in which that society is headed. I mean, I just find it ironic that this supposedly noble cause of yours requires you to do nothing but sit in front of your computer screen. I don't see the nobility in that.

  • @duckdown1993

You 're a bit confused, aren't you... Well, Sam harris writes books, Hitchens did too, I don't see Richard Dawkins sitting on his ass in front of his computer doing nothing (books, speeches etc...) Laws aThis "noble" cause requires much more than sitting on one's ass... But it looks you're talking through yours...

  • @45gattaca

Well, I think any noble cause would certainly demand something from its followers besides just complaining about shit. At any rate, it would entail some personal risk. Like, I'm not a fan of Communism but I think the Bolsheviks should at least be given credit for bravery, for taking great personal risks, etc. Atheism doesn't require any personal risk, I mean, all you have to do is write some stuff about Christianity and bam! that makes you committed. Laughable

  • @duckdown1993

No, writing books, protesting, helping repel or create laws, that makes you committed. In some countries, friend, it is a very dangerous activity to be a atheists... An apostate in a muslim country actually risks his/her life. Is that risky enough for you?

  • @45gattaca

Yes, but you're not living in those countries. You live in the West where being an atheist requires no real demands and no real sacrifices. I think at best atheists are only slightly less abrasive and bigoted than religious people are which is why I can't stand either lot of you. You all seem to think you're engaged in some kind of mortal struggle with one another when, in reality, all the "fight" really amounts to is posting on the internet or writing columns.

  • @duckdown1993

Nothing wrong with debating, that how ideas develop and circulate. Is a cause only valid to you when bodlily harm is involved? Atheists fight against religion, when civil laws a

  • @45gattaca

... civil laws are endangering free opinion, and pushing religious agendas (abortion, stem cells, etc...). I see no reason why intelligence should not be protected against obscurantism, just because it's too safe a struggle...

  • @45gattaca

The idea of a "safe struggle" isn't just oxymoronic - its a complete contradiction in terms!!! We already live in a secular society and religious belief has been declining for at least the last hundred years. Doesn't sound like much is at stake here, honestly. Actually I think people like you exagerate the threat posed by religion to give yourselves and opportunity to jerk off all over one another and talk about how "intelligent" you are. Get over yourselves already...

  • Everyone needs a bit of the Hitch in their lives !

  • @GODHATESFAGZZ You'll suffer too most probably.

  • @theCuno100-Your village calls loudly cunto...go to them with your prayers to the Thunder Gods.

  • The HItch. What a man.

  • @GODHATESFAGZZ Keep praying, it does nothing. Fag.

  • @ERROLCUSTERFLYNN4EVR Like that comment is going to hurt an atheist. Probably made you feel good though didn't it. ?

  • " I like surprises" he is breaking

  • 6 people are fuckin morons

  • @ERROLCUSTERFLYNN4EVR

    Lawl at your fail brain.

  • he looks like an aged Bruce Willis lol

  • @theCuno100 I never said their religion is stupid, i feel the same about every religion; a fairytale told by parents to comfort the mind, it's for people who do not think for themselves or simply don't want to. Religion is nonsense, I never said it was stupid, don't you start putting words in my mouth you little shit.

  • @theCuno100 The bible teaches the exact same thing as the Koran.

  • @theCuno100 No he's not, he explained literally THOUSANDS of times, he doesn't need your prayer, he DOES though, welcome support from his fans (like me). He is absolutely sure of his claims, and has contempt for religious people and their prayers, get it right. If you want to help, just say you support him, atleast try to make it sound genuine, he (nobody, for that matter) needs your half-assed prayers, GTFO.

  • @theCuno100 His name is Christopher. Get it right. Stop being so self-righteous. He doesn't want your prayers.

  • @thehitchrules The man is very ill. How about you extend him some respect for the values he holds dear rather than second guessing what he may or may not be thinking. How very rude of you.

  • @theCuno100-I pray for you to convert to Islam. The one true religion. Or is that Taoism. Either way get out of the shit box your in and into something better. And keep talking to yourself about others, makes it easy to spot you. Fucking idiot. You are in my shit.

  • One of the great minds of our time. Hellz Ya, Hitchens!

    !

  • does anyone know if C. H. has tried cannabis sativa to deal with the dangerous rays theraphy? I would love to listen to his observations, I would love to give him some of my medicine.

  • @Laparanoicafierita

Considering the complete 180 Hitchens did with his ideology, from bullsh*t detector to bullsh*t protector, I would say that he discovered cannabis some time back. And if what he is smoking when he defends aggressive illegal imperialist agenda's by white men is not, in fact cannabis but something else, keep it the hell away from me!

  • Mr. Hitchens. What beautiful courage this man displays.

  • @mattandersonWSWS Stop trolling you moron.

  • @mattandersonWSWS The old adage; 'My enemy's enemy, is my friend', come's to mind whenever I think of all Hitchens' prior socio-political endeavor's....

  • im going to cry if hitchens dies... no kidding

  • @pinochska Its going to be hard, i know.

  • @pinochska I think that you have some crying to do in the future. Even a legend like Hitch can't live forever. His writings and books will live forever though!! Cheers to that!

  • @leflipmo you dont know that... we could all live forever technology hasnt stopped advancing... i hope he doesnt die and i can still read the books with him alive..

  • @pinochska I truly hope the best for him too.

  • @pinochska Just be sure he doesn't die in vain.

  • @pinochska not if...when.

    we are after all animals.

  • Love you Hitchy You are my hero.

  • I would like hitchens to get better :(

  • I hope he gets better!!! People wishing illness upon him are too cruel.

  • Oops, not the interview i meant to click on, thumbs down.

  • hitchens looks like a jedi master now

  • Oh dear I just found out about this terrible news. :( it will be a very sad day when we no longer receive such inspirational, critical, balanced and flat out creative words from one of the true giants of intellect.

  • Christopher, please look into alternative cures to cancer... I heard you can defeat it by eating the right foods like lemon grass...

  • @DailyHitchens22: Thank you for all four uploads.

  • Support my You-Tube initiative to DEPORT CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS for PROMOTING the unconstitutional war in Iraq. Post: DEPORT CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS FOR TREASON!

  • @procommenter mate your a moron

  • @britengnz : You may have worms. Get checked.

  • @Idahoprospector why ruin your compliment with a homophobic remark about Cooper? you think Hitchens would approve? AC is a well educated, objective journalist deserving praise whether he likes women or not.

  • @tothevultures Again, your queerness does NOT translate into A FEAR of YOU - my friend. Go ahead & play the gay card as much as u want, you're not going to scare me off w/ it (or win any arguments). I have gay friends, but some homosexuals I just can't stand - Anderson Cooper is one of them. So just b/c he's gay I can't dislike him? 'Well educated,' I have no doubt, he's a Vanderbilt for crying out loud, but as far as being 'objective . . . & deserving of praise,' that's too much of a STRETCH.

  • @Idahoprospector ahaha first of all I love pussy. Second, I'm positive I get it at least twice as often as you do. Third, you're presumably a fan of Hitchens, and even though you're using the cliche " I have gay friends" defense, you're obviously a bigot. There's no difference between a homosexual and a heterosexual besides their sexual inclination. You're making yourself sound like a run of the mill, backwoods "Fag hating" christian. Time to evolve, buddy. Or maybe you believe in creationism.

  • @Idahoprospector stop putting that on every video with christopher hitchens please.

  • @Idahoprospector Shock Jock implies tacky a tacky, cheap version of a polemicist. Which Hitchens is not. Keep that in mind.

  • I am a Muslim, I seriously pray for him to recover. NO one deserves what he is going through. Islam teaches us to forgive and while he said many offensive things about Islam and our beloved prophet, I sincerely wish that he recovers and Allah heals him for his family.

  • @Cinemachee yeah..."atheists". misspelling. lol

  • Why do the best always get cancer?

  • @Vahtacen

Because when the worst get it, no one cares.

  • @twooffour Too true.

  • There is a link on dailyhitchens website that allow you to vote for Hitchens for the 100 most influential people of 2011. VOTE FOR Hitchens!

  • Hitch is starting to look like Bruce Willis yo.

  • @dirtydonki What?

  • Seeing him in this state and the language he uses to describe it saddens me greatly. This man is a hero of mine. Here's a man who isn't afraid and has the admirable tools to completely dispute the beliefs of a crazy person, among other things. That is harder than you'd think. This man, whether he lives or dies will always be someone I can respect for his ability to argue with as much grace as a figure-skater. He's an artist of the English language and the world will have lost greatly.

  • @timjdong All I can suggest is that you READ what Christopher writes about in Vanity Fair.

  • @timjdong He doesnt just write for Vanity fair he also writes for Slate, Free Inquiry, The Atlantic and The Nation. He's also written alot of books too. He has to be the most intelligent person I've ever heard.

  • as worthless as time magazine is, vote for hitch, im sure hed appreciated the recognition for his effforts. but it means nothing ultimately like last years bungled assange result.

  • Still handsome.

  • I just heard about Hitch's condition,so unfortunate. Anyone that would say that this is some kind of divine punishment is a debased mind. Hitchen's is a brilliant mind that has only encouraged humans to question that which they believe. So thankful for your work Hitch! May you continue to fight this horrible disease. I'm a Christian & I appreciate all his work. Hearing Hitch & others like him has only encouraged me to investigate what I believe.May God comfort you Hitch! Praying for your healing

  • @TheMuscleMan68 If only the majority of religious ppl were like you instead of being more similar to scared children

  • Ahhhhhh hitchens mentions his 'soul'. Looks like he's heading towards thiesm.

  • sad stuff

  • Hitchens,

    Get well.

    The world needs you.

  • @darkerforest Die quickly Hitchy. The world doesnt need you.

  • @jpgrygus The World needs Hitchens far more than the faces of organised religion and its evil.

  • @jpgrygus Wow dude...wishing death on Christopher Hitchens... I honestly doubt he would have done that to you. You like to kick people when they are down huh? Honestly your just a bully, grow up. Do you really think your God would be pleased with you being so cruel?

  • @jpgrygus I mean I realize God can be a real douche, I've read the bible. But I like to think that no matter what anyone believes, we can all learn to love each other based on our uniting quality of being humans. If there is a God out there, I think he would appreciate that more than people like you giving him a bad name.

  • @jpgrygus The world needs hitchens more than it needs a sad, lonely, hateful person like yourself, that's for sure.

  • @jpgrygus Take your own advice and save the world from yourself, please.

  • @darkerforest

The world needs Jesus Christ, and will until the end. Its never too late until you die.

  • @ChristJesusReigns Does Jesus Christ need Krishna? o_O LOL

  • @darkerforest You're right darkerforest, the world needs Christopher Hitchens but it also needs the rest of us to challenge ourselves to be so much better informed, and to be so much braver in our actions and convictions in accordance with the extraordinary example of this great man.

  • @darkerforest What is this fascination with Hitchens? The man is an apparatchik of the Trotsky cult, a group that has been revealed as ignorant and worthless. Then, Hitchens jumps on the Iraq bandwagon, which turns out to be a disaster. How can you be so wrong, for so long and be considered a person of political clout?

I am afraid Thomas Sowell was correct-- when he stated that the liberal left over values articulation and dialogue. Christopher Hitchens has no credibility.

  • @darkerforest i can tell people their is no god and act like an asshole just the same as he can. why do we need HIM so much? i mean it seems to me the person who finds proof their IS a god would be more useful then the guy who says their isnt..anyone can say (look around you, do you see god? no? then he isnt real) i guess germs are not real either :D

  • @SatansMullet Except we have evidence of germs. In fact, if you had said germs exist back in 1300AD, you would have been speaking truthfully but because you had no evidence (there was none then), you would have been wrong. That scenario is exactly the same as the god question. No evidence, so no god. There may be evidence, but it has not been found yet.
