I only recently discovered Hitchens. In a few days, I got to learn more about his thoughts and strong stance on religion. I was devastated to find out today he was also afflicted with this disease. I can feel this growing respect and concern for a man who seems to personalize both great integrity and great courage. We badly need people like him. I can only wish him well and hope he will still light the way for an intelligent and dignified life for yet a few more years.

I only recently discovered Hitchens. In a few days, I got to learn more about his thoughts and strong stance on religion. I was devastated to find out today he was also afflicted with this disease. I can feel this growing respect and concern for a man who seems to personalize both great integrity and great courage. We badly need people like him. I can only wish him well and hope he will still light the way for an intelligent and dignified life for yet a few more years.

Seeing him in this state and the language he uses to describe it saddens me greatly. This man is a hero of mine. Here's a man who isn't afraid and has the admirable tools to completely dispute the beliefs of a crazy person, among other things. That is harder than you'd think. I am afraid Thomas Sowell was correct-- when he stated that the liberal left over values articulation and dialogue. Christopher Hitchens has no credibility.

@darkerforest i can tell people their is no god and act like an asshole just the same as he can. why do we need HIM so much? i mean it seems to me the person who finds proof their IS a god would be more useful then the guy who says their isnt..anyone can say (look around you, do you see god? no? then he isnt real) i guess germs are not real either :D

@SatansMullet Except we have evidence of germs. In fact, if you had said germs exist back in 1300AD, you would have been speaking truthfully but because you had no evidence (there was none then), you would have been wrong. That scenario is exactly the same as the god question. No evidence, so no god. There may be evidence, but it has not been found yet.
