@cmsmiley13 arena is an outworld. it can be a plastic shoe box, aquarium, lizard terrarium. it simulates the outside world for the ants to feel like theyre in wild and it looks like in wild. you put low amout of sand/soil/clay etc.(that they cant dig) or cement then spray it with a non toxic texture similar to sand, artificial plants(see "lizard cage" in google to see a good example) the plants should be like cactus for desert sp. it should correspond to the soil. also add some small rocks. then

Queens survive fine in there, it's their eggs which don't. The eggs need to be provided with protein to mature into workers (protein comes from other bugs).

Also, ants don't appreciate living in the same material they're eating, so after a day or two they just sort of give up.
