Ah, back in the day when cute was really accepted in American society. It's still around, but just not as much. Patty Duke was straight up adorable. I'm 32, and find myself looking at her with fascination....had I been a teen in those days. I would have loved to have dated her.
Watching The Patty Duke Show makes me realize how far downhill we have gone as a country. Things were so much better when our kids had high morals. We see Patty being respectful to her parents even though sometimes she disagrees with them. Today all we see on TV are kids being mouthy and the parents always wrong and also they show the parents as being stupid-wonder why the kids of today are so messed up? Yes TV- you are a big part of the problem with today's kids.
Has a truer song ever been written about first love? Her voice fits perfectly to show the feelings and emotions we all felt at that time. True, she may have been a bit older at that time, but who could have done a better job.
In the late summer of 1965 Gramma took my brother and I downtown for a day-and we had a chance to see a movie-which was,"Billie."I sure remember this song Patty sang in the movie. She sang it on a late 1965 episode of her own show as well.:-)
Whether I'm with U, or just thinking of U, I get tiny little butterflies...U make every sense in Mi hightened, I have Never Ever felt so alive as when we are together!
@gaatooor I agree to that. As for Patty's (Born Anna Marie Duke) looks now, time hasn't been kind to her, but at least she survived her battle with depression and mental illness.
Patty may have not liked her singing, but when she sang, she sang with sincerity and heart, and put you in the song.
Nice melody. Disney should break down, pay the royalties and let Hannah Montana have a hit with this. Although the break is pretty weak, if they stayed with this arrangement and sold it as a (slightly camp) homage to 60s teen girl songs, they might score with it.
Yes. I remember this song and I'm 52. I remember seeing Patty in Patty Duke Stars as Billie and really fell in love with her then! I guess I should have known all the signs are there that I prefer women over men LOL.
THIS SONG did well for her and was one of her very best. It was, I believe, the flip side of her bigger hit, SAY SOMETHING FUNNY which did well on the charts. I think it could have charted on it's own - I think ALL her songs deserve a CD Presentation and I think she should do a new CD of Broadway related songs since she has now done GYPSY, OKLAHOMA, FOLLIES & WICKED!
I think Patty Duke is GREAT I recently purchased her greatest hits on cd and just love her voice. I can listen to her all day. I love that they brought her show back on the air...
I found an old album of Patty's back in 1990s at a thrift store.I think the title was "Don't Just Stand There".I really liked what I heard.Patty's certainly not a bad singer, she has a fine voice that's sort of in the Lesley Gore (who's just fab) mould. Patty's another underappreciated & unsung 60s girl singers in my opinion. Now it would make this 60s girl singer fanatic happy & twould be real nice if they'd re-issue all of Patty Duke's 1960s recordings on cd.
Such a nice surprise to find this music video tonight! This song was my favorite song some 40 years ago! I don't know how many times I listened to this record then. I wonder what has become of Patty. I hope she is leading a happy life.
Patty's recording career was brief, but Funny Little Butterflies is her best song EVER! I absolutely LOVE IT! The perfect song for Patty Duke. Thanx for posting it. This song appears in the Patty Duke Show episode- Partying Is Such Sweet Sorrow. I'm currently taping uncut episodes of Patty Duke from TV, I just recently got this episode.
Alright !!!! Been waiting for this song to come on UTube for quite sometime . Saw it on Nick(P.D. show) in the early 90's. REALLLLY want to see "Billie"
To this day I have a first cuz whom has always favored Patty Duke and she knows who she is (gigle Gigle)

This reminds me of the singer/actress (based on Lesley Gore and Patty Duke) played by Bridget Fonda in the movie 'Grace Of My Heart'

Patty Duke will always be my favorite actress.
And FYI - She's doing just great these days... living in North Idaho. She just this month received a 'Women in film' award.
Warm feelings come over me at the mention of her name ;)
