in reality those connections would be so corroded that you would have to cut the fuel lines and use flexable fuel line and clamps to put back together.... right boys? things dont come apart that easy ever
Good video, but do not follow 0:44 tip on how to depressurise the system. There should be a valve along the common rail in the engine bay - depressurise the fuel line from there if you can. Have not read all previous comments, so I hope someone has already mentioned this.
i have an 05 Chevy cobalt 2.2L ecotech engine, is this the same procedure for my car and what about depressurizing the fuel system? dont i have to do that?
Thank you. I just changed my fuel for the first time. It looked easy and I had bought it earlier, but want to check something so I watched this. Mine was even easier. Two plastic clips and a hose clamp. All I needed was a flat head screw driver.
wear glasses and use a ketch pan... ..he said "every 50,000 miles" to change a fuel filder haha. nice video thanks. for those idiots out there and they'er out there....make sure the fuel flow is correct.
Uhmmmm....where's your flare-nut wrench, buddy?? Also, it's a good idea 2 really soak both fittings with some kind of penetrant (espeically on older vehicles that see road salt etc.) before attempting to loosen them. I pity the poor guy or gal that watches this clip and ends up tweaking a line...
Mark, man you really NEED to promote safety by example. you mention "you don't want to get gasoline in your eyes, but you don't have any safety glasses on. Safety is critical under a vehicle.
I went to my auto shop and asked for a fuel filder and the guy behind the desk laughed and wiping the tears from his eyes said 'you watched that video on youtube ha that's a good one'
what about when someone watches this and then buys a filter then finds out they have one that uses disconnect tools they won't have any idea of how to take it off
Buddy!! Pressure in the lines, Glasses on your Eyes!!!
And for Gosh sakes, use the right size wrenches!! And type!
Not everyone has Line wrenches, but at Least Don't use a Sliding Crescent wrench..Or you'll end up using a Vise grip later, or worse!!!!!! Replacing lines..!
he does NOT know what he is talking about! The filter is not a one way valve thus the prease is the same on both sides. It will NOT improve mileage, maybe performance NOT mileage. Watch out!
Thanks for this video Mark. I have a suburban that has the same exact setup. The question I have is with the "outlet" stamped on the filter itself. I think in this video you are saying that the fuel line from the tank is the outlet line and that it screws into the "inlet" end of the filter. The "outlet stamped side of the filter faces the engine and connects to the "inlet" line from the engine. Is this correct?
I believe you will have to remove the fuel filter and release the fuel pressure by attempting to start the car. Once that's complete then you can remove the fuel filter with ease.
OH MY GOD! You're suppose to replace that every 50k miles!?!?! My cavalier just hit 130k a couple days ago and it have NEVER had the fuel filder changed lol.
I just changed my fuel filder on my 280ZX, its not an inline fuel filder, and it was soo clogged I got showered in E85 and got it in my eyes. Rember kiddies! Makes sure its not a FRAM filder!
so do u need to drain the tank 1st?? or do it when the fuel is low?? i don't wanna take my filder off with a face full of gas. i'm still trying to find my filder 1st myself...
Watched this to learn how to change my fuel filter but ended up laughing really hard at all the comments on this video. Love the serial killer comment HAHAHAHAHHAHA!
should de pressurize the system by pulling the fuel pump relay or pushing down on the scharader valve. And he should be using a flare nut wrench to loosen those bolts
Thanks for a great video! It certainly helped me change the fuel filter in my car. A very professional and quick video, with good focus on every step needed. Thanks again!!
