  • Kookaburras are so cool, they laugh and laugh outside of my house near the forest, there are two families that live rather close to each other and they laugh at each others jokes in the afternoon

  • my teacher made me play this in class! >:(

  • I love kookaburras! That's a great call

  • Nice call

  • RICHARD MERCER CHINH!!! RICHARD MERCER!!!

  • It can't laugh like the man of Skype (gno gno gno)

  • @takarifan OMG!!!!! Same Here!!! It Also Is Annoying. Haha. Thumbs Up if The Book 'Unlikely FriendShips' by Jennifer S. Holland Brought u to This!!!!!!

  • I have a Kookaburra, he sits on my window sil and waits till i come out and give him some food XD

  • Seems that many have been annoyed because the laugh woke them up in the morning. Strange that it never happened to me, lucky me!

  • certainly my favourite Australian bird. they used to come to our balcony in Sydney to be fed by scraps of meat.

  • there wass a bird show in the park and i hol him on my hand, he is noth verry strong in his feet. bud that head wass sooooo cute!!! i wil never forget it!!

  • And all this time, I thought a monkey would laugh like that.

  • I wake up to this sound every morning. Ah, I love Australia.

  • Thats ah joke son doncha get it? I made a funny son and you're not laughin!

  • Funny! I like his noise! :) NOW I know what that bird is in that popular "jungle" sound effect that's been used for eons!!!! LOL :)

  • It sorta sounds like a deranged monkey

  • I came here because I heard that this animal make the sound of a laughing human. That sounded nothing like a human!

  • @Ronldbx6

    try helium :)

  • @Ronldbx6 You need to listen to them in the wild, they really do sound like a human laughing. When the white men first came to Australia they were convinced people were laughing at them from the bushes. Have a look for more on youtube which have much longer video of them. It's when they really get going they truly make you get the giggles with their laugh.

  • I WANT A PET KOOPABERA!!!!!!

  • No wonder they're nicknamed the "laughing jackass". Imagine yourself in a bad situation and you see this guy laughing at you D:

  • @Kodama867 they do have that awesome timing to laugh at you when you're doing something stupid

  • Must've been a heluva joke!

  • I hate the noise, wakes me up every morning.....

  • They used the sound of a kookaburra and changed it a bit to make Flipper's noises.

  • I worked at a exotic bird shop a few years ago and had no clue about its comical laughing. i was cleaning bird cages (we had about 30 of them in a big room) when it suddenly laughed! oh man! it scared the shit out of me!

  • How often does Hollywood use the sound of the Kookaburra call as SFX over a scene of an African or South American jungle? Obviously thinking it's some sort of monkey.

  • FUNNYJUNK

  • They're called Laughing Kookaburras, so it's not surprising that he's making a laughing noise. These birds eat venomous snakes larger than themselves.

  • hahahahaha

  • Bloody swire!!!!!

  • THUMBS UP IF ROB SWIRE LINKED YOU HERE!!!!

  • @KrakatoaCoo Who ?

  • @sclapione rob swire, the frontman and vocalist for the band, PENDULUM

  • Yupp, just followed Swire's link to this lmfao. Thanks Rob :P

  • ashley lai's a loser.

  • The people who find this amusing must be American. Wake up in most places in Oz and this is your alarm clock.

  • @Yogling haha i'm american and find it amusing. I would rather have this as my alarm clock than a loud beeping machine.

  • @hhsdance94 Hehe, ok it is kind of cute. But at 5am on a weekend with ten of these guys and another dozen magpies - the urge to kill rises! :)

  • @Yogling haha soo true.

  • you can buy a .999 silver Kookaburra coin from Apmex(dot)com

  • ya know, that actually explains the song so well.

  • oh, it is sooo goood))))

  • If somebody had played just the sound instead of the video I would have guessed it as a monkey lol.

  • @1989ProblemChild

Unsurprisingly, that stock sound effect you always hear in movies and games of a laughing monkey... that's a kookaburra bird. Mind. Blown.

  • laugh kookaburra, laugh kookaburra gay your life must be!

  • Why is it in a cage like that?

  • That's freaking awesome, but it would scare the shit out of me in the middle of the night. I'd think... "There's a RAPIST in LINKIN PARK. HIDE YA KIDS, HIDE YA WIFE, HIDE YA HUSBAND, CUZ HE BE RAPIN EVERYBODY 'ROUND HERE!"

  • PUT IT IN A PADDED CELL AND GIVE IT A STRAITJACKET!

  • lol sounds like a monkey

  • mocking bird....

  • is he in a cage??? I just got woken by some outside..who puts the king of the bush in a freakin cage????

  • @whiskerkill I used to get woken up by them all the time when i lived in Australia. I remember phoning my friend back home one morning saying there were monkeys living in the trees outside. I was convinced it was monkeys, still was until i seen this lol!

  • @foodiedave The say what now?

  • @Karuminu I think this video was linked by "The Onion". It was so long ago now, I'm not sure what my comment meant. 25 thumbs up, though!

  • I watched this like 10 times in a row. I strongly dislike most large birds, but this one is awesome!! HAHA!

  • Oh so this is where that sound in the jungle in all those movies comes from... I get it now. Lol

  • It's like the entire sound of the jungle is in one little bird.

  • omg this is even more annoying X)

  • my eyes are watering!

  • do i smell a ONION??

  • How do you not kill that thing? Sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar.

  • ONION!!!!!

  • hahaha....

  • my videos with hungry panda and elephants are funnier

  • @stunsail Happened last summer, stupid basterds!

  • Hahahahahahahooohohohohohohahahahehehehehehe!!!

  • Yes, it really does sound like they are laughing ... but actually they fly from point to point around the perimeter of their territorial area and "laugh". In reality they are telling all the other birds to "f***k off out of their 'hood' or they'll do some serious damage to them."

They are not kidding at all. - But they are one cool bird.

Always offends me when movie producers put their call in jungle movies from Brazil or Africa etc. ... They are only found in Australia.

  • inside joke

  • Love these birds :)

  • My friend said either this kookaburra has found the ultimate plan of world domination...or she's cuckoo for Coco Puffs.

  • @blissfullness93 in dem bushes ova derrrrrrr...

  • lustig

  • I do love the Kookaburra's call. But they do sound a little raucous in these videos. When heard from a distance in the wild the sound is just beautiful.

  • sounds like a monkey.. ;D

  • @blissfullness93 actually they live all over australia and i hear them every day and i live in a city

  • I can do that sound haha

  • It's not annoying. I get to hear this every morning and every evening with more than one at a time and it is wonderful.

  • It is just right for didgeridoo tutorial !!!

I am learning didj playing - thanks for sharing this movie - now I know what kind of bird is so known and beloved for didgeridoo players, especially for Aboriginal didj players !

  • I don't hear them around here very often and I see them far, far less. :(

  • i laugh like this bird :D

  • These birds shouldn't ever be caged as pets

I've got a bunch of them out the back in some trees recently I hope they stay around for a while

  • Woow such nice sound !

  • sounds like a monkey to me!! so cute!!!

  • hahahahhaha fuckk this is genious haha xD really cool bird

  • Got to love these birds.

I have never heard a lone Kookaburra in a cage before. Strange.

The beauty of their call shines when there are a bunch of them laughing in the trees - the calls reverberating. If you're sleeping in the bush this will often be the first sound you here before the sun comes over the horizon.

  • monkey?

  • Most amusing!

"Laughing Kookaburra" is the aboriginal name, is it not, and the most commonly used, but I believe it was also once previously known as the "Laughing Jackass"...
