I found Return of the Fly's monster to be irredeemably goofy. The head was crudely designed and way too big. The actor could barely keep it from falling off or snagging on stuff.

I much prefer the sleek and iconic original The Fly costuming with it's quivering mandibles. It still holds up today.

I do agree that 9 out of 10 CGI monsters really don't work.

Ipersonally think the 'RETURN' fly-mask resembles a real fly-head more than the BEN NYE 1958 original, however the first film is a far better constructed, more effective sci-fi horror film......apparantly the [unveiled] 1958 man/fly hybrid is only onscreen for 2 minutes.....perhaps the use of tension and build-up, [where imagination is encouraged and can throw up far more potent horrors] was partly why the original 'FLY' was so much more effective. [never seen 'CURSE of the FLY' yet].
