The US might have build about 184 F-22s but it is economically impossible to keep them all in the air in case of war times. This is why countries prefer to modify existing planes with better BVR missiles and radar. If the US were to even try to put a tenth of those planes on the air, it would bankrupt the country.

The avionics easily melt because of it's skin - which is why it doesn't deploy to Iraq or Afganistan and will never deploy to Iran. Also it's Oxygen system malfunctions. The air force has to ground every 22 for months because of cockpit O2 leaks. How do I know this information? Oh yeah I'm in the AF. So stop being a typical american thinking we're the best.

@DomepieceSON88 i know the name of the missiles, i am not incompetent. its the sidewinder and the AMRAAM. and the F-16 is about 100x less advanced as the F-22 and used matured, off the shelf technologies. the F-22 uses brand new EVERYTHING, from its avionics to its engines, they are not matured and are expected to have problems. but considering all that, above 70% is actually excellent. i will admit the F-16 is my favorite jet but the F-22 is universally considered the best.

I believe this is a Mig-29A, If we take a F-16 from the same time period the Mig would be a mach easily. Considering it was first fighter to come with a helmet mounted missile cuing system, 45 degree's off bore sight was and still impressive considering that only in 2003 the USAF achieved IAC for there joint helmet mounting cuing system, 20 years later then the Mig.

Germany before exercise with usaf upgraded mig-29a to mig-29s, bore sight, differential engine thrust layout, improved dopler radar, irst, bios update for new missiles... and as you can see by the results kills (lock/simulated rocket fire, gun lock) they dominated both f/a-18 and f-16 usaf, usaf barelly got any locks. Also all old russian mig-29 are equipped with 3d nozzles (note difference from 3d engine like on mig-29 ovt etc..), but performance is pretty close.
Ok to all to think i am not pilot, i dont have to prove anything, i have flown more than 10 years on mig-29. Now, here is little detail about F-16, it is first version was unflyable since bad aerodynamic geometry. Only when it was upgraded with computer it was posible to fly with it, because comp. make corrections, also it is single engine af, and mig-29 has 2 engines, so in turn 1 engine rpm slows and it turn much better and sustained than f-16, also on lower G and angle of attack.

@XStarss The Mig-29M OVT (Mig 35) is NOT in production There are only a few demo models. None of which were in the German air force. And now that India decided they didn't want the Mig-35 it will probably never be built because Russia has moved on to 5th generation fighters. As for me, I'd love to try it, but what about engines, f-15 (f-16) has a weakness against Su-27 on the forced fight slipping turn simultaneously climb. @vinkelnisse Some part of your information is off. It has a thrust to weight ratio of 1.08, so I don't see how it would have any problem climbing to 30,000 feet or higher, especially when it was designed to be the successor to the F-15 which a damn rocket.

It all comes down to this here people. we can deploy our forces anywhere, anytime and for any mission, We have better pilots, equipment and training. We maintain our fleet better than any other Air Force in the world. USAF for life. The F-16 is not the best fighter in the world, I know that, but it is good a almost any mission you can think of. Thats why it is the most successful multi role fighter ever made period dot com end of story.
The F-16s have helmet mounted sights which can shoot Aim-9Xs and Aim-120s. No Mig 29 has ever shot down an F-16 or F-15. The National Guard pilots in this film are NOT trainees, but VERY experienced pilots. It's pure rubbish that the Germans were told to play nice. You fight as hard as you can. That's not how fighter pilot training goes. (Unless it is training new pilots.) That statement is just nonsense. And @dharmdevil, you know not of what you speak.

I believe this is a Mig-29A, If we take a F-16 from the same time period the Mig would be a mach easily. Considering it was first fighter to come with a helmet mounted missile cuing system, 45 degree's off bore sight was and still impressive considering that only in 2003 the USAF achieved IAC for there joint helmet mounting cuing system, 20 years later then the Mig.

that is main difference between usa and russia, cause usa do all things expensive. look at f-22 cost nearly 1 billion, it is 100 su-27, so what is better 1 f-22 or 100 su-27. usa knows that so they shut down f-22 production. Germany before exercise with usaf upgraded mig-29a to mig-29s, bore sight, differential engine thrust layout, improved dopler radar, irst, bios update for new missiles... and as you can see by the results kills (lock/simulated rocket fire, gun lock) they dominated both f/a-18 and f-16 usaf, usaf barelly got any locks. Also all old russian mig-29 are equipped with 3d nozzles (note difference from 3d engine like on mig-29 ovt etc..), but performance is pretty close.

Ok to all to think i am not pilot, i dont have to prove anything, i have flown more than 10 years on mig-29. Now, here is little detail about F-16, it is first version was unflyable since bad aerodynamic geometry. Only when it was upgraded with computer it was posible to fly with it, because comp. make corrections, also it is single engine af, and mig-29 has 2 engines, so in turn 1 engine rpm slows and it turn much better and sustained than f-16, also on lower G and angle of attack.

FIRST - this is not SU-27 this is MIG-29, SECOND - MIG-29 have 3D vector thrust engines and it is THE MOST MANEUVERABLE Aircraft in the world at moment, so there is no way that F-16 can get in it tail. @XStarss The Mig-29M OVT (Mig 35) is NOT in production There are only a few demo models. None of which were in the German air force. And now that India decided they didn't want the Mig-35 it will probably never be built because Russia has moved on to 5th generation fighters. The Mig-29 OVT was just a test vehicle for thrust vectoring (you would think someone claiming to be a fighter pilot would know that). Too funny.

It all comes down to this here people. we can deploy our forces anywhere, anytime and for any mission, We have better pilots, equipment and training. We maintain our fleet better than any other Air Force in the world. USAF for life. The F-16 is not the best fighter in the world, I know that, but it is good a almost any mission you can think of. The F-16s have helmet mounted sights which can shoot Aim-9Xs and Aim-120s. No Mig 29 has ever shot down an F-16 or F-15. The National Guard pilots in this film are NOT trainees, but VERY experienced pilots. It's pure rubbish that the Germans were told to play nice. You fight as hard as you can. That's not how fighter pilot training goes. (Unless it is training new pilots.) That statement is just nonsense. And @dharmdevil, you know not of what you speak.
