to treat humans as mere vessels for selfish gratification is simplifying the variety of capabilities that exist in humans and is ignoring the advancement of nature, which has been taking us away from brutal competition for survival and towards more reasoned thought, cooperation, and reliance on one another to survive (humans have the longest period after birth where they are defenseless and reliant on others to realize their potential).

could you elaborate? the stupidity i see is economic totalitarians (private multinationals, many US based) controlling a nation's currency and capital flows, thus impoverishing the country for the vast majority of its people, and acting like setting up sweatshops is providing a service to these people. there is a difference between the world's people making money to provide the basic means of existence off of their own resources, and a handful of neo-liberals dictating these conditions.

sharing and social services are contradictory to "global markets"; it is about protecting investor rights to OWN the world for their own profit, not for the benefit of the people they are exploiting.
