  • Yeah man looks cosy nice video.

  • Nice video my friend.

  • @handyscot1 Thank you my home town friend!

  • Now I have to puke.. That dog is way to crazy for camera work. Im ok after the begining.. Thanks for not letting Cooper shoot the whole video. Take care my neighbor.

  • @handyscot1 You crack me up - too funny - LOL! Thanks for that one, I'm still laughing!

  • looked like a relaxing trip. especially the smell of a campfire going :). Thanks fr posting Man!

  • Great job buddy! Man I wish we could get some snow.....lol

  • @ReeperzOutdoors Had to go into the mountains here for this snow. Thanks for joining us!

  • Nice hike. Is that a previous shelter of yours?...Dash

  • @mrriprock2 Yes it is - it's our get-away, I built it last year - will re-roof in a couple weeks.

  • Fun video with lots of great gear ideas. Cooper is obviously an actor and not a director... : )

  • @saradreaming My goodness Sara! You don't upload, you don't post! Been a busy new year so far for you?! I'm guessing you're back out there... : )

  • The Cooper Cam reminds me of my Kayak Cam on some days...LOL

Great discovery with the Jetboil coffee press working working with the GSI pot!!

But, I think you may have left your camera there ;)

Still lots of snow kicking around eh?!

    Great video my friend

  • @BCkayakcamper Oh I'll bet Kayak Cam is a lot more controllable even across white caps - heaven forbide! Funny - I always think that too when I see one of our fellow YouTubers doing the paddle, walk, snowshoe, ski, hike away, leave the camera behind scene - LOL! Our snow at sea level went away as fast as it arrived - I went up a few thousand feet in elevation, into the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest - about 45 minutes east from home - to play in the snow : )

  • A jet boil coffee press! Yes! That looks like some REAL coffee there my friend. Thanks for sharing. I like the "Cooper Cam"! The boots look great. Dry feet are happy feet. :-) Thumbs Up on the fuel pump too! Very nice. I have been playing with the Georgia Heat stove and was happy to know that you can simmer quite nicely with it if you squeeze only 1/4 to 1/2 oz fuel via the squeeze bottle it came with and then squeezing some air afterward before lighting it. The flame burns slow for a long time.

  • @CrazyTaileZ Uh oh, coffee press coffee in your future - and Matt has a Snow Peak 700, look out! I want one! (It's my next REI dividend cash-in - haha)! Yeah, got to rethink the whole "Cooper Cam". Sounds like you got your Georgia Heat dialed-in. I could never figure out squeeze and fuel back flow. It was a good thing Rich suggested the fuel pump / bottle. The weight may catch up with me one day when I'm way up there in altitude - you think? Nice hearing from you again Buddy!

  • fuel pump adapter is awesome... give under dog a pat on the head...

  • @FixedByDoc You're too funny Ryan! Thanks my friend! Looking forward to your next 3D!

  • @mindis56 Thanks for watching and commenting, and again thanks for the sub!

  • What kind of dog is Cooper? I'm more of a large dog guy myself but you got a winner with him. Did you just pump up the valve on your fuel bottle just like you would if you were using a stove with white gas like the msr whisperlite international? Really enjoy watching your videos.

  • @nutojtown Cooper is a 5 month old American Cocker Spaniel (the smallest of the spaniels) sporting breed - definately a natural in his element outdoors. Yes, I pump up the fuel bottle the same - but barely open the valve (or too much fuel will pour out into the stove), then slow down the flow even more with the second valve at the outlet port. Correct - as a matter of fact - the pump and bottle are from my MSR Whisperlite International - good observation. Appreciate you commenting!

  • That's such a nice spot. ole Cooper is getting big pretty fast! Enjoyed watching this one. I'm out of town sitting in a little hole in the wall "Inn" doing some work here for a few days. glad I had something to watch.

  • @dmacken11 Good to hear you're working hard so you and Buster will really appreciate your next one out. Me and Cooper will be right there with you two. You've got to be craving a Justin's in one form or another - LOL!

  • @wawhiker Funny because now I carry a Clif bar and squeeze pack of Justin's peanut butter with me every day I go to work. If I'm stuck somewhere and get hungry before lunch or can't make lunch I eat it up!

  • Once again a good vid with your little travel mate

  • @nycbike73 It's been so much fun sharing Cooper's growth out there with you - thanks for encouraging us!

  • If I cant play in the snow (because we have none) at least I can watch my friends on you tube have fun! Nice Bill, Salomon are Kimmy's boots of choice, she loves them...well Cooper should stay in front of the camera! Such a nice dog! Always fun to see new stove info as well. Thank you.

  • @ihikearoundcom Gosh Matt! How are you and Kim doing? It's been a long while - too long! I'm guessing you two have a few planned in the near future : ) somewhere around the globe for the next ihikearound - haha! I'm hearing from several Salomon aware fans - I got lucky with my choice. Thanks for staying in touch - I'm sure you're working hard challenging bright minds - good for you!

  • Livin' the dream!

  • @Grubkat You know it too - thanks brother!

  • Excellent vid as always! Salomon is my choice of footwear! Don't need snow boots here, but they look great! The Coop looks like he has the outdoor thing down. Great job!

  • @ridebks I'm really seeing how much of a bound there is to be out there will him ; ) Good to know I made the right choice then with my boots. Thank you my friend!

  • great video :D

Such a good dog.. trained very well... and smart.

Hope all is well! take care,

    A.j.

  • @arthurlafave Thanks for coming along with us, really appreciate it A! Cooper really enjoys being out on these extended hikes, and he is so willing to please and do the right thing every minute we're out there. I'm fortunate he picked me to be his hiking buddy, haha!

  • Good vid. Great buddy hiker. I liked your furl bottle setup. I'm sure it's an way mod, but is there any chance you could to a how to vid on it? If you have already done on, please point me in that direction,

I bought an extra Mini Trangia to make the mods to it. Haven't had the time to do it yet.

  • @kphifer1 I've planned a meal that will test it's full use. I'll disassemble it and show you how to make one. I'll be our next backpacking adventure. One note of caution on your Trangia - I removed the inner wall of my Trangia to install a nipple fuel receiver - are you willing to do the same? Or, maybe you might be able to come up with a work-around my method...

  • Still jealous of your campsite. Really dig the setup. Are you planning on re-vamping the shelter when spring comes?

  • @kakasibatosi It's our favorite. I'm thinking of using the roof material as tinder and firewood for our next campfire. I have a camo trap to replace the roof. Then I'll just stash it on-site to re-use each time we visit. Sound like a good plan?

  • If Cooper only had thumbs then he'd be a great cameraman : )

Good day of testing out gear, I'm planning out my next outing right now. Can't wait. The snow looked great out there!

  • @CampfireTalk So - you heading out into the snow? I remember you doing one last season - you and your buds, some "wild and crazy guys"!

  • @wawhiker Sadly it seems like we've entered an early spring here in the south. I can count only 2 cold snaps this winter. My next outing is a quick solo trout fishing trip. I may bring the camera, but I'm searching for peace & quiet on this adventure. I'll have my fishing poles set as I brew up some java by the riverside : )

  • Haha! That Cooper cam was funny buddy...haha! Looks like it needs some heavy duty securing eh ;o)Cool bro! Those water proof boots are very close to my Salomon boots :o) Aspen Aerogels with contagrip. Very good on ice :o)They've been very good boots. Rated for -40c :o) Excellent excellent work on the MSR fuel delivery system my friend! That area you're in looks so awesome too :o) The shout out was top shelf bud :o)))

I came up with a mod myself for the minimalist...to shave off mega weight :o)

  • @Ggreenvideos I was really looking forward to getting out there for this one Bush Buddy, and I saved the best test for last! I was determined to make your idea work, and it did - in a big way - it works great! Got a meal planned... Good to know I got lucky on choosing my boots - kinda like the "Bushman of Yukon" wears - hehe!

  • @wawhiker Yup It worked sweet buddy :o) Glad you got it happening :o) It was all you man! You got er' dialed in nice too. Some day I gotta' try that myself...hehe! Another thing goes on a list :o) Won't be buying much for a bit though Damn truck :o( I really wanted to get that Georgia heat some time too! I need to win a lottery I guess...haha!

The boots are fairly close. You see me wearing mine in all my vids. The wawhiker gravity filter vid is where you see them real good. They're shiny :o)

  • looks like a great day out, recharge the internal batteries ;)

  • @beast12101 Yes, indeed - they discharge pretty quick up here sometimes. Thanks my friend!

  • @beast12101 I just became aware that you're the one that started this whole Jet Boil coffee press, Snow Peak 700 option - 3 years ago! I should have known.

  • @wawhiker you got a get up pretty early in the morning ;) LOL

  • What a hairy monster is chasing you there? Taking the Yeti for a walk, are you? ;o)

Nice gear to have fun with.

    CU, Tim

  • @steintanz Now that would be an awesome video - Yeti Cam! Who will be first? You or me? My money is on you Tim - you get out more than I do, haha!

  • @wawhiker :o)

  • The neighbors had to hear me laughing at the beginning with the Cooper Cam , Now to the mods well they ROCK !!

  • @medicjimr Haha, thanks Jim, glad you enjoyed the Cooper Cam! Yup is needs some work. Sure felt great finally being able to get out there in the snow. Appreciate you coming along with us my good friend!

  • Great Vid WAW; I really like your fuel bottle set up!

  • @cre8tivesolutions Thanks Ed! Much success to you on your knife design.

  • Great video, brother. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.

  • @dcordry Always enjoy having you along Dee, thank you!

  • Enjoyed this one. Testing trips can be a lot of fun. The soft rubber used for winter hiking boots works great in the summer on wet slippery rock. If your feet can stand the heat, you will love the grip.

  • @EconoChallenge Oh bro! If his boots are as warm as mine there's no way to wear those in the summer...haha! Saloman make awesome boots though :o)

  • @EconoChallenge Thanks Jeep, but we don't get wet slippery rocks around here - yeah right, haha! I'll have to give 'em a try. Never thought of the "benefeets" of soft rubber until you mentioned it.

  • Some good stuff! I been using the press with the 700 for awhile now but its good to know it fits other mugs to! Great job on the metering set up for the GH. I might have to have ya email me the part # for that one! Thanks buddy and keep up the good work!

  • @TomsBackwoods That's my next "gotta get gear," the SP 700! How do you rate it? Thinking I'll use the cozy and lid for it from the GSI. I'd be happy to lay it all out for you and your GH. It's an easy mod.

  • @wawhiker I like the SP 700 its my go to cup for coffee although the press doesent fit real tight and you got to remove the top section of the push rod of the press to drink I still like it!

  • Cool stuff, good gear and great video work! Happy Day, Sepp

  • @Waldhandwerk I'm really starting to enjoy having campfires on my hikes - seeing your's and others has changed my mind to build them. I only use to have campfires for overnights, at night. Hopefully the dried tinder on the roof of my shelter will help me make my next campfire - we will see. I'll replace the roof with a camo tarp. Looking forward to seeing you out there again my friend!

  • Boots look comfy... What is the temperature comfort rating of them? They don't look as bulky as my Rocky's, but they are rated for down to -115 deg. My feet get cold real easy due to low blood pressure.

  • @YukonCornelius72 Sad to say these Salomons aren't going to come anywhere close to your Rocky's - comfort range: -18 degrees C, -1 degrees F. Lighter? 20 oz. Keep warm Buddy!

  • thanks for sharing

  • @dragonflyhiker Always a pleasure having you along my friend, thanks!

  • Excellent stuff. Great content in your videos, this one was very good too. God luck with the Cooper Cam! I really liked the stove mod you showed. Stay safe!

  • @SurviveToLife Appreciate you coming along with us, and your kinds comments. Yup, haha, Cooper Cam needs some work - any suggestions?

  • @wawhiker Thanks! I will give it some thought and see if I can offer anything.

  • Seeing Cooper move in that environment, was like seeing a Bev Doolittle painting, come to life.

  • @TheDogDew You are too kind! I checked out her art on her website after you mentioned this - amazing! I would really be proud of Cooper seeing him become one with our surroundings out here. I book-marked her site, thanks for sharing!

  • Awesome video ! Man it sure looked "damp" out there. Those forest you have up there are wild ! Thanks for showing. I really like the coffee press idea, might have to give that a try my friend, peace

  • @Cragdwella Craig it's wet everywhere here and then there's rain on top of snow - sounds lovely doesn't it? Couldn't go out last weekend in this area, too windy. We have to appreciate what we have when we can. Thanks my friend. I'm looking at the Snow Peak 700 for the coffee press, a light weight upgrade.

  • Hey Nice video,,,Thanks

  • @LiamMitts Glad to know you liked it, much appreciated.

  • Your dog is thinking -

" I JUST CANT BELIEVE HE HAS BROUGHT ME OUT IN THIS WEATHER "

and - " WHAT WAS HE THINKING ABOUT , I THOUGHT HE LOVED ME , I AM OFF HOME " .

Great gear tests there wawhiker , actually out in the field .

  • @Figure14HH LOL and thanks! Actually he starting climbing the walls (me too I have to admit) when we missed going out last week. I know it's time to get out there when I start doing stove burn test indoors.

  • Great stuff! Love little Cooper too. Great looking dog = ) You have a wonderful playground there. Your videos are high quality with super production values. Lots to be learned, watching your vids. Thanks so much, pal. ~Wolf

  • @FatDaddy4Fun Thanks so much for this Wolf. Trying our best to share with you what it's really like out here in our neck of the woods - it is a big and beautiful playground that Cooper and I enjoy sharing.
