We either subsidize coal power plants so they can capture/sequester the emissions, and henceforth remove the advantages coal has versus renewable alternatives, or we tax CO2 and bankrupt coal power plants. So... the only way to make coal power plants competitive and to keep it that way is to actively combat those who say that CO2 is a pollutant and should be regulated. The moment CO2 is a pollutant and must be regulated is the day coal starts its slow death.
