@Faithwalk777 Mehserle was only trained to use a taser a couple of weeks before the shooting. So he really had no real world experiance using it on a suspect. Unfortunatley the Bart Police department regulations called for the an officer's pistol and taser to both be placed on the right side. So you take an inexperianced officer...in a heightened situation...with a suspect that is resisting arrest and keeping their hands under themselves in a threatening manner..you get a dead suspect.

He is being detained and questions by the police and he makes a phone call and is clearly talking back to the police. He stands up a hostile action. Hostile! then when they have him on his stomach he keeps his hands under his stomach resisting/hostile.

Obviously the cop made many mistakes, and was an idiot. But no different that the black cop that shot his foot by accident in the classroom. This one just happened to be a sad outcome. Sure the cop is an idiot but not sure he actually meant to fire the sidearm. Cops are just people and many of them are very flawed. He resisted arrest in those incidents and threw down a gun as he ran from police and was tazed for resisting arrest. So he was NOT the saint people try to make him out as. It is obvious in the video that he isn't cooperating with the Bart police's camands and is resisting arrest...par for the course for Oscar Grant..I reiterate piece of s**t thug. @Faithwalk777 Mehserle was only trained to use a taser a couple of weeks before the shooting. So he really had no real world experiance using it on a suspect. Unfortunatley the Bart Police department regulations called for the an officer's pistol and taser to both be placed on the right side. So you take an inexperianced officer...in a heightened situation...with a suspect that is resisting arrest and keeping their hands under themselves in a threatening manner..you get a dead suspect.

He is being detained and questions by the police and he makes a phone call and is clearly talking back to the police. He stands up a hostile action. Then the officers go to lay him down on his stomach and he turns over on his back with his hands out. Hostile! then when they have him on his stomach he keeps his hands under his stomach resisting/hostile.

However, it's always a horrible idea to not follow cops instructions and to resist arrest. Lots of times cops overreact to resisting arrest, because it's a natural part of human nature. Read the book Blink to see what I'm talking about. But even that doesn't justify this cop's actions

How can he actually claim that he accidentally grabbed his taser when he took the gun out, and actually stood up before shooting. In the amount of time it would have taken him to stand up he would have realized it wasn't a taser because they have a different weight and feel. Not to mention the victim was on the ground completely pinned down. Why the need for a taser in the first place? Great to know that all it takes is to be a cop to get away with murder.
