This guy is burnt, and didn't explain a thing. If you are a beginner, this will not make much sense. But it's quite primitive and retarded the way this guy pops and slaps. and what's with the "thing" with the floppy wrist? if you do that "thing" you'll sound like him, sloppy and never to the point. Your wrist movement is supposed to be precise not floppy. and 6 string is not the best bass to show this on.

The point of being taught a technique is to break it down so it is completely understandable in its components. He is breaking it down, so you can hear it, understand and apply it to what you do. If you would seriously want to know what this person can do, you would check out his discography and listen to what he has played on countless albums. His work with Tony Williams put him totally across and players have memorized his bass lines and some of his licks are historic.

I think all these negative people here have bad style. If you don't like something, it is not really necessary to insult. In my opinion you are just lacking the maturity to appreciate the musicianship of a player like Tony Newton. You should consider that slap bass started with his generation. Old school slap bass players might have a different sound, than whoever you are considering cool, but I think EVERY musician deserves respect. And by the way Tony has played with REALLY big names.
