At the bottom the pressure pads trick is to close the thing... maybe if you run a button from the top with redstone down to the exact line as that you can make it close from the top, this would allow the person at the top to close it so they can get down :D Hope this idea helps. If it does , can i have credit for the assistance at least? I suck with redstone mostly, i just know a couple of things that you can do for that exact problem :D

you could make a really tall zipper and break the connection per floor. When floor #1 elevator starts to close, floor #2 starts to open. floor #2 starts to close, floor #3 starts to open. All floors closed by default from pulse. With a few second pause between floors. Then you could get out if you wanted, or remain to goto next floor. Do desent with a pause per floor as it goes all the way down. Now that's a project.

Your up and down elevator, first design is best for smp. The others are too fast and unreliable. You tend to not make it to the top, in single or smp.
