@AdeptAngling oh yeah should have looked harder. ill have to try the dp sometime and im looking forward to the spring vid. all of your videos are great quality. keep up the good work!
great video thanks. have you ever by chance fished the des plaines river? i tried it when it was muddy and got skunked but when the water is normal i have always been fishing other places. i live right by it so it would be convenient. thanks
Thanks for the comment, The Des Plaines river is actually decent fishing for smaller northern Pike, Catfish and Carp. More deeper pools etc. For bass. But there are several small northern in the 10-28" range :) I do have a video of myself fishing the Des plaines from 2008 on my channel, Will have a newer version up this spring though.
@Lunkersteve Great time indeed Steve! especially on the light 6lb test. And as far as the girth and length, There's so many different species of small bait fish in this river for the fish to keep fed, as well as many catch and release anglers. Water still carries a rather high enough amount of pollutants to highly recommend anglers NOT TO CONSUME ANY CHICAGO RIVER FISH.
i go to von steuben high school on kimball and foster and the chicago river is literally right next to the school. its very shallow right there and doesnt look to suitable for fishing. should i go further south deeper into the city or further north to get the best fishing action?
@matt234pm I've done both, But That thin stream like channel isn't the one that actually holds the fish. It runs from skokie lagoons off into river park creating a waterfall. Anywhere on the main section not the very shallow area near von, Behind north side is more like it. Think foster bridge channel. Happy Fishing

Geo, nice video. Those fish are rather girthy. Some appear to have a nice length also. That had to be fun.
