It's about growing older but feeling the same as you always have, except becoming jaded. It's a battle, hence "children, wake up" but then saying "I'll never". It's a beautiful song, sad and happy all at the same time because it's nostalgic. But I think we were really just meant to experience the passion and "bigness" of it more than anything else.
