  • Still gives me chills, 5 (almost 6!!!) years later.

  • Vocally this is lovely. really lovely. I think there should have been more panic at the start though

  • Wait.. Isn't barrett supposed to sing that solo? The "I'll hold thee closely" one?

  • i kinda liked this song better as a group song :/

  • wtahc the dutch version its sooooo much better

  • @vampirechick827 yea it DEFINITELY is

  • ;(

    ;(

    ;__;

  • Crap I didn't realize what I had to do as Charles. Hope I can do it justice cause i am not a great singer but just got cast as him last minute.

  • Don't worry. They change this part of the show to give Charles the singing part instead of Barrett. As Charles, you'll just have a little Duet in the first act.

  • Yeah now that I have actually had a chance to see the song book and read the script I feel much better about it. We have a fantastic Barrett but thank you for the info =]

  • @bpcham

For us, we had Barret as well but then for the big part we had Charles sing "Come say u love me as Kiss your eyes" it was Fantastic,

  • All i can sa is............... WOW!! this s really good.

I'm in my towns local production of Titanic, Our first show is in just over a week

  • I like this bit. Well not like as in woohoo its the best bit, because thats sick. But i love how it shows the hurt between the characters. I particulary love the Bond between Charles and Caroline in this number. I've played Charles in the show. It really makes you wanna cry. I think this was done fantastically. Well done. Hard song to do

  • I'm going to defend the video. The sound is off of the mic from the video camera. And nobody has a microphone at all. Not a true sound....likeness (for lack of a better way to say it.)

You should have been on stage. Looking into the eyes of the people that were going to 'die' in the next scene. Chilling and goosebumps every night. I still listen to the recording, 3 years later.

  • I saw it on Broadway when it came out. The cast was phenomenal and I was quite skeptical but it was good...the "panic singing" sounded much better and more coordinated they kind of layered it over itself to harmonize it.

  • the song is nice, but the yelling in the beggining sound awful! maybe they wanted to "sing" the panic, but they din´t make it well.

  • okay i was in this exact version... (i was the bellboy :) ) and its SUPPOSED to sound like yelling and panic!

  • hmm the pit is in the ship thats really different....i love the song!

  • that was an interesting rendition..

sorta brought peace to a time of chaos

    props to the director

  • that was interesting.

when we did titanic, the whole company sang what that guy sang the first time. then barrett did the thing with the picture. THEN charles sang...lol. this was just as good though!

  • that song sounds like - what shall we do with the drunken sailor! i dont know how that musical could have won awards!

i'm not critising the people performing this - im critising the so called musicians who created this musical + the lyrics are like something by Graham Kendrick< 'You are th apple of my eye happy clappy hymns!

  • pirates120, u r retarted, deaf, or both

  • no, i'm just musical

  • you dont like titanic as a musical?

i kinda like it and the music it has alot of feeling in it i think.

i do agree on the whole drunkin sailor part at the start when there hurry now there isnt any time relly really FAST!! haha

  • well I dont know it very well but from the clips i have seen on youtube i dont really like it. Tbh I just dont think it works but thats just my opinion.

  • This is by far the best Titanic the Musical snipped I've seen on You Tube...

  • we just did this musical i wasnt in it but i got to see it last night and its a fun play to watch its funny sad great job to who ever did that

  • good singing...awkward blocking

  • we need to get Mia to post her video on youtube

or if we get a frontal view that will be a lot better

  • that had to be the best singing of this song on youtube

however, yeah, very strange that Charles sings Barret's part and his own part, but it made some sense with the lyrics twisted up a bit

the panich 6-way split was great, however the stage coordination was a little off, but just the overall singing made up for that

  • Is that kevin earely as Barrett?

  • ok... they naild the panic part.. too bad they are so much in panic nobody can hear a word of it

  • the ensembles sounds like a bunch of middle schoolers yelling at the top of their lungs....HORRIBLE tone and quality.

  • Having just Charles sing it was an interesting take on the song. I still love the Broadway version (and I love the German version I've heard, where Barrett sings to the photo and the "Charles Clark" bit is sung by Jim to Kate.) but it was very moving to have this little moment between the two of them.

  • Barrett sings to the photo in the Broadway version too. I love that, it's so touching...

However, this is the version I've seen on YouTube so far.

  • Cut from Titanic:

    "Social Class"

    ...by Caroline Neville, Charles Clarke

This song was one of three songs used in this spot for the "Clarkes" during previews, but like the two before it, it was cut when it was realized that the "Clarkes" story was best told in dialogue, rather than song. It originally followed "Lady's maid".

  • Cut from Titanic:

    "Behind Every Fortune"

    ...by Thayer, Widener, Astor, Guggenheim:

While the writers were heartsick about cutting this excellent song, they realized that with "Still" on the horizon, it would be completely overshadowed and slow down the tension being built to the climax.

  • Cut from Titanic:

    "No Moon" (outtake - fragment)

    ...by Frederick Fleet:

This brief piece originally explained the lack of binoculars in the crow's nest, but was felt to be inessential to the story in light of everything else going on.

  • Charles sung Fred Barrett's part! I liked it the other way because Barrett couldn't hold his fiancee, only her picture. I like how Charles original part came out.

  • Titanic was a lot different in the preview performances, April 1997. The "To The Lifeboats" scene prior to writing the sung version of this scene, it was originally a dialogue scene, culminating in Charles Clarke's solo version of "We'll Meet Tomorrow". Charles Clarke sang the whole song start to finish. The life boat section before this song had no music with flares going off in the background. I've listened to it and it had a very different feel to it.

  • Oh, wow. I know in the Broadway version, they had the entire cast sing this part. But having just Charles Clarke sing it to his bride was very moving, as if in all the chaos, he and Caroline could still have this personal moment.

    And he has wonderful voice!

    Post more, please!

  • I'll see what I can do.

    Thanks.
