@truthfulexposure No, Sir, Paul Mooney did NOT write all of Richard Pryors jokes. Mr Mooney's brilliance as a writer is undeniable, both in standup and sketch comedy, no question. But there were several talented writers employed by Pryor as well as other greats of that time and previously. See, Rich brought a certain THING to the table comedically that no one ever has before or since. There's a reason Mooney is not looked at in the same light. Because he wasn't as great as Rich.

Paul Mooney was Pryor's good friend. He wrote some jokes. They riffed together & developed concepts. But you can ask Paul today & he'll tell you that your premise is wrong. Furthermore, a great deal of what Pryor did was improvised. Foxx's case is similar. They riffed, shared ideas & developed concepts. Having grown up in Illinois like Pryor & Foxx, I can tell you that those are the same jokes you hear in the pool hall, barbershop, men's group at church & fishing holes. Trust me.

Pryor hired and helped out Mooney when he was up and coming and Richard brought him into the limelight as they began close friends. But make no mistake that Richard Pryor is in did a pioneer, a legend and the greatest comic to EVER live. Simply because what Richard had couldn't be taught but was natural and true!!!

@whayes8084 i can see where youre coming from, especially after he moved from jokes to funny essays, but his first essay driven special "jammin in new york" was his best. he was a master of emotion, vocals, and of course, language. delivery is only so much though, so while pryor had an impeccable delivery that started a whole new trend, he didn't write his own material, so i cant place him among the top 5 even.

On the first Kings Of Comedy tour he was the closer, at least in my city; and I fell asleep on his ass alhough it was only for a few minutes. Steve harvey sucks because he stole a womans book(Sharon P. Carson) is arrongant, condescending when he speaks i stopped listening to his show a couple of years ago.
