Natalie, you are awesome. I love that you make it so obvious that people who try to put others down is stupid, saying "so what?". I can never understand why people point out obvious "negative" things about me, because what am I supposed to do about it? It's part of me.
Despite the fact that I am mostly a happy, confident lady these days, I have my moments where I go back to where I used to be as far as low self esteem and confidence.
But just being around you, engaging with you online too, I feel "inflated", or uplifted. I hope you realise how much you do that.
Oh man, that's made my night. Or one of the things that has made my night! I am actually working towards being one of those people you feel good around, I discussed it at length this week with my trainer actually!
Hello, hello. Another Fatshionista here. It's really cool to see and hear you. Your recent OOTDs inspire me to check out Yours Clothing. Good luck with your Youtube endeavors :)
Thank you, the lip colour is Australis Tropicana with a gloss over it from the same brand.
I have heaps of wedding photos taken by my fantastic photographer friend Kate O'Brien on my flickr - I'd link here but I'm having all kinds of difficulties commenting and I have a feeling YouTube hates links :(
I know when I am feeling down and blue, I myself have a habit of lashing out and criticizing people, trying to boost my own self image. So... Right On!!
Anyway, this is a great first blog. I hope you tackle more important issues. I think you have a good perspective. I look forward to seeing more videos.
Thank you so much for commenting! I feel really special now.
My attitude towards being judgy changed quite a bit when I read "Screw Inner Beauty" or "Lessons from the Fat-o-Sphere" as it's titled in the USA. Although it pertains to body shape, it could just as easily apply to a person's general presentation! I feel a lot happier inside since reading it, too!
I rarely comment on youtube videos. I guess I am more of a watcher, but I got to this vlog from community channel's comment page. As everyone has said before, your lips are beautiful, and I <3 the way you did your makeup in the video and in the pics you showed. You are so right about people who tease: Although I am normal weight, I am very insecure about my height (5'10"--freakishly tall) and my skin (which is covered in acne). (continued)
Your lips are beautiful (ok, by itself that comment sounds kinda creepy but it's in context re: dailybooth pic). Someone called me Fat Albert once when I was a kid, riding my bike around. They suck.
So true what you said about negative judgment and hurting yourself, rather than the person you are trying to put down. It baffles me as to why one would go out their way to be negative and hurtful. You can also tell a lot about the way people think about themselves, by the things they pick on in other people/complain about.
I'm not sure it's jealousy, but I agree with the rest. People make nasty comments because they don't feel good about themselves and want to make everyone else feel like that too because then it's not so bad.
Also, good on you! I think it takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there in photos and vlogging. The *fat* has put me off vlogging - also I'd probably need to pluck my eyebrows and goatee, but mainly it's the fat. I'm slowly talking myself into it though.
Just be yourself. People will always have something to say, good or bad. If YOU are happy with you, that's all you need. People usually say bad things about other people to take light away from something that's bad about themselves.
Hurray for your first vlog!! The pursuit of fanciness is a worthy cause.
(and the lips are lucious ;)) It never ceases to amaze me that trolls pick on people for being... people. People being happy and confident rubs off on me, and I know I'm not the only one! Thanks for posting, can't wait to see more.
I followed your link from fatshionista. I really agree with your opinion on teasing being related to jealousy a lot of the time. I think the idea of someone being fat (or otherwise different from the ideal) and still happy really bothers some people. Anyway, yay for your first blog! Looking forward to more :]
One of the only times I was mean to someone to their face about weight was when I was a teenager. The girl was quite skinny but I was being a bratty insecure bitch and told her she looked like she had a bit of a pot belly in her beach photo.
I always felt bad about that.
It's just stupid insecurities. People always need to find the negatives in someone's success or happiness to make themselves feel better.
i love your lipstick! it was the first thing i noticed--quite fancy. ^.^
and you're right about the lip thing..lol-- i wish my lips were bigger.

1) Your lipstick is fantastic. What color is that?
2) Your wedding dress looked amazing in those quick pictures. The red is gorgeous.

Well said. You obviously have very strong opinions, and I think its commendable that you stand up for them so publicly.
It'll be interesting to see what the troll response is like...
MandaPropaganda1980 2 years ago 3
I've had only one trolly response, which consisted of the word "gay" over and over. I'm not really sure what they were getting at :P
