  • I just got a dt175 with a 5 gallon tank from a yz500 and a front fender from a yz 500 and i want to know if i can put a 250 top end on it can anyone help if so email me at ijamserick@yahoo.com thank you

  • I've got this exact same bike, except without the mud flap on the front fender (don't think that's stock) and I'm running semiknobs on the front. Mines got 4,000 miles on it, and it blows my mind, because it can be 30F out (like it was when I rode Sunday) and it will start dead-cold on the first kick every time. BTW you can get 6V LED replacement bulbs for the gauges and tail light. They run a few bucks a piece and are much brighter and don't dim at low RPMs.

  • @oisact Yea, she was a good bike. I sold her about a year ago to someone I know who wanted it badly. He rides it all the time. He put an electronic flasher in it along with some leds. Me, I personally like the classic dimming lights.

  • those are so fun

  • Wow this is just the bike I'm looking for... I got just a 1975, and it's a 100. Time to step up haha.

  • @DustySafe The 100's aren't bad, still pretty capable off road. The 175's pop up from time to time. The ultimate to look for is the DT400.

  • My dad bought me a brand-new '78 DT125, and a few months later, the automatic oil injector died and the engine seized. The dealer repaired it under warranty, and offered to replace it with a 175 piston and head. So mine was a yellow 175!

A year later, when we moved from Oklahoma to Idaho, I rode a large portion of the trip, and I continued to ride the absolute snot out of it for many years afterward!

  • @geopablomac Thats awesome. Not really a physical size difference between the 125 to 175, but that was awesome having a yellow 175. They are a really durable bike. Even today, it is still being ridden by one of my buddies friends.

  • @origionaldz Yeah, in OK, you could ride up to a 125 on the street at age 14. For that model year, the 125s came in green or yellow, and the 175s in blue or red. My buddy got a red 175 and put "125" decals on it, but the cops were onto his game, so he eventually had to swap his bike into a 125. I had played it legal by getting a 125 to begin with, so when the dealer offered to make mine a 175, I was sooo happy. I totally smoked my buddy after that!

    Ahhhh… the good ol' days…

  • 78 omg

  • @doubleOprepper Hey. These type of old two strokes have a wide power band which isn't that hard on the engine. Doing maintenance on them is pretty easy. The only thing I would be worried about is finding parts for them, they were made in the UK years after our government banned street legal two strokes so there are parts out there. It's air cooled, so if you are driving slow for awhile they tend to overheat. They only go about 50-55 miles an hour tops without re-gearing it.

  • Nice bike man! I have one - the exact same make/model/year, but yours is much, much nicer!

Do you know where I can get a new tank for one? Aftermarket, or original......mike has 2 rust holes in it... =(

  • Man, I miss my DT...

  • I had one of these 25 odd years ago and it had a bloody great thick steel plate under the rear guard , I could wheelstand that bike for literally miles

  • i got the same bike EXACT

  • I have that exact same bike what brand/size knobbies do you have on in the back? I've been having a hard time finding knobbies and have been running IRC GP110's which are some really awesome 50/50 tires.

  • I believe its a dt. The guy I bought it from said that the previous owner had it street legal, but he registered it as off road only because that's the only thing he wanted for it.

  • hey i got a 175 and im trying to convert it to street, how is it yours is street legal , it being a two stroke?

  • @Orange104 Do you have a DT175 or a 175MX. The DT175 came street legal from the factory, and it had a title for road use.

  • @origionaldz Ya cuz all u need is rearview mirrors blinkers and a license plate

  • @Orange104 dual purpose

  • Your Video brought back some memories. I bought the same exact bike in 1979 when I was 16. I sure had a lot of fun on it. I beat the shit out of it and it still held up fine. Excellent starter bike!

  • iv got the same bike only its a 1975 175 endero with all original everything and no broken or bent plats and all original mirrors and its silver black original pant and engine runs perfect

  • @xtreammopedrider Thanks. Your bike doesn't look that bad, it looks like it's been used alot more than my bike.

  • hell ya! thats cool

  • will be worth something 1 day, I bought a gt80 a while ago, pos lol neva ran buyt prob was a cool bike back in the 70s, it almost looks like a aftermarket exhaust?

  • @TheHondaAbuser The GT80's are cool, they kinda look like the DS80 I have. Bike is completely bone stock. I wish they made aftermarket pipes for them though.
