  • are you canadian?

  • will these work on just a computer? like a commentary?

  • could u use the lapel mic plugged into a computer, great reviews, im gonna check them out now,

  • get an audio gram 3 or 6 they aree better for recording they r not mics they are home recording studios little mixer for mic inputs and outpust n stuff they are sickk

  • does anyone know why my mic records my voice so crappy i live in uk and i bought one and when i record it's got not a buzzing but the odd high pitch noise and when i listen to the recorded sound from the speakers u can hardly hear it so any tips?

  • Thanks man. No problem.

  • Thanks man, really great. The Sony hand held mic sounded good. Could not hear much echo or noise. I am thinking of buying in the ECM-55B (omni) or the ECM-66B (uni) lapel mic. I wonder if the they record good, they are pretty expensive. Any advice sabot96?

  • Sorry, I have not worked with either of those mics. Thanks for watching.

  • the f-v620 compatible with vista 64-bit hardware??

  • As long as your computer as a mic input it should work with both of these mics.

  • cool but try and frame your subject better (you) too much space above you and to the left and the right.

  • I should say - get a sponge for that, the sound will be much better than without it. :) great video

  • Top demo. 5 stars. Q. Can 2 lapel mics be fitted to a single jack external camcorder mic jack. Is there a 2 into 1 fitting. Can a technician splice 2 into 1 .

  • It would be best if you had a mixer to put the two together.

  • Thanks for your help. Great advice, this helps me a lot!

  • hmmm, would you consider the Bescor TCM-88 Microphone for beginner films? Im only 14 and not very "advanced" on what mic and other film junk to pick for the lowest price possible. But you narrow down the results tremendously. Thanks so much and plz make more tutorials!

  • I would recommend the TCM-88 for any kind of project where you are recording the voice of one person. It would not be good for recording lets say two people at a table.

  • thanks man because of tyhis video i bought the f-v620

  • I feel somewhat mad because almost always I cant find these types of mics (or anything useful for that matter) at local places like walmart or radio shack. What else they have is stupidly expensive. Today I will open an account on ebay. Thanks for this video anyway, and you look like that dude in Full Metal Jacket.

  • i cant find an adapter for a sony handycam thers no external mic plug on it so i was wondering if there is any sort of adapter that would alloy me to connect the mic

  • There are many camcorders that do not have mic ports. In those cases you are out of luck.

  • do you know of any way to enhance sound with a camcorder w/out a mic port

  • The only thing you can do it get the camcorder as close as possible to the audio you are recording.

  • great video thank you for the info

  • great video thanx for the info

  • you have really helped me to buy the right one, trust me i was really confused,

your video is one of the best educatainment video on you tube!

Great work keep it up, God Bless you

  • I am glad I could be of help. Thank you for your kind words.

  • nice video, is that Sony Microphone good for singing???

  • And it's kinda funny cus I was looking online for mic that are popular in recording guitar, which was the Shure SM57, and I was looking through my stepdads gear and he actually had the same exact mic. The only thing is I dont have an XLR-1/8th cable so I need to buy one.

  • hehe @ 3:39ish when u were going to say the price I guessed $40 and I was right. But anyway...which one othe those mics do u think would record best when recording guitar?

  • okay nevermind, these are just for voice recording

  • The Sony hand held mic sounds good to me. You may want to try that one.

  • Yeah I found a better one that a is pretty popular in recording guitar which is a Shure SM57 or SM58.

But what do u use to record ur video? and how much is it?

  • I have a Panasonic PV-GS180. The key thing you want to look for in a camcorder is does it have a mic in. Many of the camcorder no longer have this port.

  • Yeah I know that it needs a mic in. (im glad that I found that out a couple days ago.)

But how much does ur Panasonic cost? If its more than $200 then I can't get it. And it seems real nice so im sure it like $500.

But another thing, would u happen to know if Webcams have a mic in? Cus I'd rather have a cheap webcam than an expensive camcorder.

  • with the unidirectional...too much puh-puh...need wind screen thingy.

  • i sent you a video response to my problem did you see it.?

  • I did. I don't wan't to add it to mine because it is a problem and not a solution. You need to contact your camera maker to find out why you are getting static through your XLR connection.

  • Great job explaining things. Thanks for your time....

  • You are very welcome. I am glad it was of use to you.

  • really great advice! I really appreciate kind people like you helping out with their expertise

  • Great video!

I think you just discovered how your voice sounds! You know we hear ourselves different through our body than what we actually sound like.

  • Good Job! Thank you for the demonstration.

  • You are very welcome, and thank you for dropping by.

  • I'm a sound mixer for film & tv & was just looking to see if anyone had a video like yours. You've given some good ideas to those who need help improving their sound. In the professional world, we hide the lav mics under clothes for dramatic shows, but not at throat level. If the actor turns his head, he goes off axis. We tape the mics to the shirt about chest level. Cheap shotgun mics are available but you can mount the hand held on a broom handle and hang it over the actor's head. Good job!

  • Thank you very much for your feedback, and the information.

  • Thank you, that was pretty good. Some details may need correction or addition. Some camcorders that have a mic input need powered (condenser) mics, so the Sony wouldn't work. Hi-end cams can power mics with like 48V. Computers may need unpowered mics. Cardioid is omni-directional, not uni-directional. Your PV-GS180 (like my GS400) can use either powered (condenser) or unpowered/dynamic mics like the Sony, but some can't. Great video.

  • I was thinking, if a minidv camcorders record the audio either hard left or hard right, which is what you seem to be saying. I would get 2 lapel mics and plug them into a 1/8" inch 2 into one Y jack. Looks like a "Y"....2 female 1/8' ins at the top, to a stereo male 1/8" at bottom.

You could do an interview and one person would be on the left, the other on the right channel.

  • Sounds very do able. Since the camcorder does auto level adjustment, it should come out sounding quite good.

  • How do those mics sound so leveled without EQ (as far as I know).

To get the same kind of sound on my studio mixer you have to heavily eq, or does the camcorder just have it built in?

    Cheers!

  • The camcorder has automatic level adjustments. No EQ needed.

  • Awesome video. very helpful. I've been looking for a Lapel Mic but you're right it's hard to find good info about them.

  • do u know any good resonably priced condense mics

  • The lapel mic is a condenser. It needs power to work.

  • Man you really helped me .I'm a minister and I want to record with great sound and cheap.thanks

  • Glad to hear it. It seems that only the really expensive stuff gets reviews these days.

  • What kind of camera do you use?

  • I use a Panasonic PV-GS180. They don't make it anymore. I don't like it's low light capabilities and the view finder does not show the whole image on it. The good part is it has a mic in port. That is hard to find on the cheap camcorders these days.

  • Thanks, great video.

  • This is exactly what I was looking for. It is so hard to find good mic reviews on the web. Sabot, you rock!

  • Thanks! I thought I would give some of the low end mics a shot. They worked great.

  • About that hand held mic. You are not using any mixer or preamp? You just directly plugged it into your sound card? I heard you need amps for pro-like mics or the volume will be too low. I am thinking about buying a MX8500, but not sure if it will work without a preamp/mixer.

  • I was able to plug my mic strait in. It produces mic level output.

  • the lapel mike is what i'm looking for! I've got an arm bar mic that cam with my puter about 10 years ago, so i'll go check it out, thanks!

  • how is the lapel mike? does it deliver high quality sound?

  • Sabot that was grat! really informative! I think you are a natural in front of the camera! ;-) what camera do use?

  • Good review on mics. One thing you want to look in to is the Wireless ones also. No cords to trip over and so forth. Both of them sound really good and clear

  • I was thinking about wireless than I saw the price of good wireless. You have to spend over $250 for what I got for $60. The sound quality of the wired mics is just really good.

  • wow...I think I may have to get one of those mics. My sound always sounds yuk. I have an OLD samsun camcorder though...thanks for the info :) only thing, is it really EASY to use??? I hope so!

  • As long as your camcorder has a place to plug a mic in, it is just plug and go.

  • yer so nice sabot! will you carry me babies? no really- they are heavy!-Deb

  • ha ha ha. Thanks for the compliment.

  • good info, dude. I really need to look into some better mics.

  • A mic that is close to you, really makes a big difference.
