female budgies (hens) are usually passive and less fun than males (cocks). for that reason, i tend to have boy budgies..they are playful,fun and generally silly! my last female budgie was docile but boring .. try buying a boy!

They usually need to be hand reared (spelling?) Or played with alot when young. If you cant be bothered to do this buy a hand reared one from a shop.

whait for 10 days if you just bought your budgie... then after 10 days put your toys in your cage then wait for like around 1 day, you wait and see if he does, or does not play with it...

If you just got your very first budgie he's just a baby~~it takes them a while to begin playing. If you are with him a lot and talk to him all the time and make him a member of your family he'll be just wonderful. Be sure to have a good bird vet~~after all, these little guys need a "pediatrician," too, excellent food for him, and read all you can about the little guys and he'll live for YEARS! Since birds live in flocks he considers you "one of his flock." Have fun!
