brilliant...I love hearing Noam Chomsky speak...you learn something every time. He's getting old though and I'm not sure there's anyone that could fill his shoes...what a shame.
Indeed he is getting old. But when you consider the vast audience of people that Chomsky has inspired over his lifetime. I think there will hopefully be many who will continue in his footsteps.
I think he knows it too, what an achievement he has made ! One can only look upon to him and hope that his words reach as far as possible.
Although old, he is still an inspiration to all freedom loving socialists and workers around the world.
chosky is aging like good wine, he will be here for many years to come. i bet he will live to be over 100. just look at him, he looks really good and he is super sharp. and thanks to chomskys activism there are now thousands of little chomskys out there.
One thing I would have liked to hear - what did NC think about the response to Republic Windows & Doors (it think the sit down, he's referring to). Because --- in the mainstream press--- it wasn't super negative. I thought at the time there were more expressions of sympathy than I've ever seen for a group of workers. I wonder whether NC who's always on top of the media observed the same thing? Obviously, my reading is pretty selective.
Name of the end song and/or artist? Or link to where I can get the song, its at the end of a few of your vids, and its amazing imo. Great interview btw I subbed to budd bc of it.
Damn, is there anywhere you can post it for download? Im not around the east coast too often, lol. Or even if the whole song was in one of the vids I could get it from there. I would pay for it if possible; I think I have come to link that song to social philosophy and politics bc of these vids.
lol, I found and bought the song just bc it was worth it. very good, and you were right he is Haitian and sings in French Creole. Keep up the good vids.
What it really comes down to is freedom and equality regardless of race, gender, age, ect. The problem with Ayn rand libertarianism is that it focuses on freedom and not on equality....but there cannot be true freedom without equality.....not to mention the fact that big business is as much of a tyrannical institution as government.
something like what he's talking about re: industry was tried in the 1970s - the Carter administration gave Boeing the contract to build the Standard Light Rail Vehicle, idea being it'd cushion the blow of cuts to defence spending, streamline costs for cities that stll had trams/light rail, etc. Win-win.
The thing was a lemon.
Yeah you can turn an industry from building cars or fighters to something else, but I suspect it requires quite a bit of development and investmet and time.
for some reason everything chomskey says seeps of honesty perhaps he is telling the truth and is truly one of the greatest man alive of our current time or may his mastery of linguistics has enabled him to manipulate his audience but then with the sources chonskey provides it near impossible to think that he is lying. only when men like chonskey become leaders would we truly experience democracy

I hate the way Chomsky talks, he pleads with his hands making him look helpless and meager even when he was young. And besides most of his ideas blow, not saying that he's dumb, I admire him as a personal hero coming from the streets then becoming a great MIT intellect. Still gotta disagree with his rhetoric 95% of the time
"and besides most of his ideas blow" most want Chomsky present in regards to politics is FACTS if u cant accept facts you are dilustional (u have to understand in regards to political language games there are such things as facts) i just brought that up seeing as you also a fan of Nietzsche (as am i) and that in philosophical i can understand your discontent with politics but in truth chomskey ideas in regards to people run state is brilliant

it's just that he claims that he's some sort of freedom fighter and advocate of anarchy when in fact he's more like a social democrat or a Lenninist instead of anything remotely anarchistic.
That's the same old charge from the right. He addressed that point during this interview, when Buddhagem asked him about reform and revolution. You might disagree but I think it's dishonest to lump him in with the Leninists.
"only when men like chonskey become leaders would we truly experience democracy" what? so, democracy is not ours to work on and struggle with, all we need is another "good president", "wise leader". that's just escaping responsibility, don't you think? only when we, aware, active people, resist the abuse of power and fight for our rights would we truly experience democracy. not only in your country. usa is just the biggest, brightest example. cheers.
well i have no idea of what world you live in but todays current system GIVES THE APPEARANCE OF FREEDOM but in actual fact there is non. yes you are right i mis-phrased .chomskey assist pole to self govern we would achieve a certion extent of freedom we currently have NON
we have some basic freedoms, i think. freedom of speech, for example- not in mass media, but still, even here, on yt. freedom of assembly, to protest. the basic idea is to use those, as a tool against unjust govern. since you are from GB (?), one of the most healthy democracies in comparison to, for example, those east from you, i think it's wise to appriciate those rights. my country borders with bielarus- now that's country without freedoms or perspectives for near future.
what makes Poland more "free" then Belarus? Because Belarus's government has better relations with Russia then it does with the "West"? Or because Lukashenko mixes his thuggery with economic populism to maintain popularity inside the country while in Poland various factions of the ruling class take turns holding political power and mix their thuggery with a message of "deal with it or seek work abroad"?
the social freedoms in some liberal democracies are nothing more then privileges (and they have been granted only after a hard fight) that the state can take away if its power is ever threatened. and they do not address the lack of genuine control of and participation in decision making in political, let alone economic, life by persons who are collectively affected by those decisions and whose productive labor sustains social life.
freedom of speech is a termed used a bit to often. what is freedom of speech when from a young age you are conditioned to think in a certion manner,= they can no longer control your actions directly through force so they control your opinions. yes we have freedom within the small confinements of the cell they have locked us within to me that is not true autonomy . words fall on death ears if they did not listen to the death crys of millions what makes you think they would listen to you,
HEY dude, I've seen you on Inmendam's things. I almost worship Noam Chomsky, so if he says something, I'm likely to be automatically for it. However, he's human and one of his downfalls is incredible optimism. But who knows, I mean why not suffer the consequences of NID, it's not like we don't have consequences for the current system. Cheers..
I find all the 'worshipping' of Chomsky pretty weird. If you agree with some of the things he says, it doesn't automatically mean you agree with EVERYTHING.
nothing in my eyes. I think its Brilliant and thats why I spend all my days talking to people about it and have for years now.
most peoples first reaction is "people are too dumb to be free". but thats because they themselves are too dumb to realize that they're talking about THEMSELVES. Literally!
Just by the way you worded it it sounded like you where either anti NI4D or anti-Chomsky, but I'm usually tone-deaf.
I looked into NI4D and it sounds great. I run into a lot of people who say that you can't put the people into direct power. They ALWAYS (in my experience) call it "mob rule." They sound like modern monarchists, and totally anti-democratic, but they, sadly, don't realize it.
thats when you ball up your fist and bash their heads in until they give in and sign their name on the dotted line. then you shake their hand and get them to start bashing other peoples heads in with you.

Haha I just read the translation of the song, it's titled "Making Love to You Endlessly."
You can do a quick search to find his website, and the album is called Vwa e Gita Vol I. I'll think about doing a video with the whole song.

Noam Chomsky endorsed the national initaitive for democracy. He did. its in writing.
that means that if you agree with him and his ideals then you should inherently agree with the national initiative.
