lol! i performed the last body overhaul on 99, you can still see the shrapnel damage in the engineroom bulkhead from when the IRA set of a bomb in the guards van!! Dont see why you cudnt use it over there, you need a driving trailer converted to 3 pipe brakes, a set of Mark4 motorbogies off an emu or a 73, it,s not like you guys are short of mk2 coaches, it would certainly draw the crowds!!!
I hope some of those Thumpers are preserved. Aside from their charm they are the only DIesel Multiple Unit to ever be based on Mark 2 rolling stock. I know England had a couple of Electrical Muliple Units based on Mark 2 Rolling stock but the Class 80 truly is unique. I hope some are preserved. I really do.
