hi, i bought a AE template and need some help in replacement. The image is small so tried to resize it but the layer comp for the image and text are kind of fixed. so only part of the enlarged image/text shows. the part outside the layer/comp dont show. yeah its a very expensive program. I got After effects cs4, Vegas pro 9.0, photoshop cs4 excended, and camstasia studio 6.

They are definately not cheap lol wish they was tho. Plus it sux cuz if u want add ons or whatever u have 2 pay another 300 bucks for each one lol

i think the best way to do that is to typ your text. Than u make a mask of it and than go to effects -> generate -> strokes. Than make a 0 object and make a camera. It was something like that :p.

the only problem I am having with this is the text is actually still visable.. you willl need to select a text colour that matches the background colour.. so white text for a white background and a black stroke. you get the idea O.o had to stretch

on this same layer goto Effects > Generate > Stroke, make sure that all masks is turned on, by defualt it is turned off, now all you need to do is scrub the End element down to 0% then make a key frame for the Start element, as you scrub that over it will follow the path..

An easier way is to just type the text in the font you want in illustrator then select type and create outlines, copy that text layer (ctrl c) then paste into after effects (ctrl v) this will copy the text in and the masks that define it's shape.

Perhaps you don't have the latest version? I don't either, so I don't know. That may be the issue. Try getting the After Effects 7 Trial.

Thank you very much for explaining! I didnt know you could use the pen tool for it. I'm a noob I guess hehe, I just got after effects. Well, I tried to follow the steps you explained and made them kinda my own way. Thank you again for explaining, it opened a whole new door for me, hehe! =D

in after effects, use the pen tool, and draw a path for the writing. the hit "M" to bring up that layer's mask where the path is. cut it ctrl-x, the pick stylize>write-on and paste the path into the brush position area on the write-on slot. you may have scale it up or down depending. then adjust the variables to your liking.
