they have to give the slum dwellers equal opportunity - they should move the airport somewhere else, sell the land to developers (who will demand opportunity for the slum dwellers cuz well.. who wants a slum next to your office building??), price of land will skyrocket, and slumdwellers will receive big bucks for their shacks, and build a high speed rail system to the airport.

Very good report AlJazeera. Both sides have truthful points to persuade the argument in their favor. The unfortunate reality is that expansion will have to be made. The airport is too vital to the financial stability and growth of Bombay. Unless land is allocated elsewhere for a secondary airport, the slum dwellers will have no choice but to leave.

In China for a single dam project 1,000,000 people have been moved.

In Manhattan USA, native indians were given $50 worth of goods to move away so a financial centre can be built on.

China's all about the superficial achievements, whereas India, as a democracy, does not have the "luxury" of just kicking out ppl forcefully.
