allrighty soo 10 months later as I view this,im more understanding of how to pull of such great work.. i have been working with Particle illusion alot.which could do just about all these fx. the panorama thing still kinda confuses me though. Im still just blown away at the quality level of this. My pc could never render this properly without having a glitch somewhere and/or loss of video quality.
To be honest, Rendering out was done on a fairly old machine, by todays standards. The panorama effect was rendered out in 3D Max from that angle and then simple scrolled across as an image. with the animation on top. The particle fx were made in photoshop and imported / animated in Director. Its fairly simple. The max res was 640 x 480, standard 4:3 SD resolution.
IM BLOWN AWAY!!!! I cant fathom this omg...it looks soo professional!!! how do you do it??!!!! i read somehwere you use macromedia??? never heard of it..I use ulead video studio 11,,but how do you do all of these fx!? Id really like to know about the smoke from the cars espeically, doing explosions and fires has been a big question "how to" for me and my stop motions.btw Im TOTALLY SUBSCRIBING!! DAMN!!! =)
I have been coming back all day to watch this over and over agian.I can't get enough of it..I know nothing of the series.but damn i love the effects and all.I would really like to know more of how you did this video.I know how you did the cell shading, and the lights and all that, but the backgrounds and smoke.and one camera angle trick at 2:20
The smoke fx were taken from a texture of smoke and I cut the the frames made my own movie clip and added the looped smoke with rotations / scaling. Again applied them with blending options so they look like part of the scene rather than stuck on.
The city was made in 3D studio max. The camera trick was a piece of the motorway exported with the panorama renderer in Max and you can save the image as a jpeg and then slowly scroll across to give that shot of the Boomer flying by.
sweet, thanks for letting me know.the only pic editor I have is adobe business that came with my old printer from 1999!! lol and it doesnt have any kind of rotate feature or something unless of course I saved it frame by frame. Does 3d studio max have a shareware or something? how much is it? ((im gonna look it up))Backgrounds have allways been a time consuming project for some of my vids,it would be nice to have something digital in the back and just use chroma key.
This one was a tough piece to make. Mainly due to the cel-shading and cutting out each frame.
I used Macromedia Director MX 2004 (similar to Flash) to layout the frames and the fx (made in Fireworks) on top, using layer blending options. Not the best way to do things but it was I had at the time.
Let me start by saying AWESOME! this is a slick video very well put together it reminds me of the film "Appleseed" but whatever I am currently working on a stopmotin/CG/live action movie its nice to see this stuff can work well
another year later, im still admiring this video lol how can you only have a couple ratings!!!!??? wtf?
