the full tests and 60/70 mph tests are on my page for a 71 60mph came in 8.5 seconds in these tests. when you floor them come of the line like a supercar run with the exotics until hitting high gear around 73 mph -then turn luxo cruiser c0mpared to 429 mustangs hemi chargers they dont win the race but run side by for the first 3/4s
@robs71redriv easy there killer run with the exotics.In what way 0 to 60 in 8.5?????Come out of your coma and take note that the new standard is 0 to 60 in 4seconds or LESS!Be serious those cars were fast for their time but are dogs by todays standards.
@camirocz if you'l notice i'm refering to hemi chargers and 429 mustangs that was back in the day - ya lots of $200,000 4 second cars built today.2008 Maserati Granturismo 0-60 mph 4.8
2007 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren (722 Edition) 0-60 mph 3.4 and for around $60,000 2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 0-60 mph 3.6 Quarter mile 11.6 and modern hemis 2008 Dodge Magnum SRT-8 0-60 mph 5.3 Quarter mile 13.7 - but you expect those to go fast - not a 4500 lbs luxo cruiser -
@robs71redriv an srt 8 charger is not exactly a lightweight .Over 4000 pounds as for you list of exotics even from then they were much faster than 8.5 seconds to 60 mph.5.8,6.5,6.0 etc
@camirocz back in 1970 these were fast exotics 1970 Porsche 911 0-60 mph 7.1 1968 Porsche 911 Sportomatic 0-60 mph 10.2 1970 Lamborghini Miura S 0-60 mph 5.3 1970 Ferrari 330 GTS 0-60 mph 6.7 1969 Oldsmobile 442 0-60 mph 5.8 1970 Lotus Europa S2 0-60 mph 11.0 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda 0-60 mph 6.3 1970 Chevrolet Corvette 427 0-60 mph 6.0 2008 Saleen Mustang 0-60 mph 3.8 - now go find the video of a 71 riviera head with one these - search fnd buick riviera vs ...
Stock Rear Axle Ratio: 2.93 and 3.42 with posi traction. 2.73 to 4.56 are available in the aftermarket from places like Eaton. Those test in my video are from 1970's right offf the dealer floor on bias ply tires. tuned they can run amazing fast not that that 8.5 seconds to 60 is slow especially for a 4600 lbs car- torque is the strong suit at 455 and at 2800 rpm most exotic muscles car make max torque to 4 or 5 grand and are still winding up as the riv pulls away
Hey, robs71redriv, so just what was the rear end gearing on the '71, '72 & '73 anyway? It was pretty quick, but I'm sure there was some aftermarket gearing for the boat tail that I've not seen. With a 455 tuned right theres no reason this couldn't of done low 14's or even high 13's easy...I've read that a lot of stunt coordinators in movies liked this car 'cause of the mods they could do on the gearing, but they never said what that was...
pretty damned impressive for such a heavy machine. but then it does have a monster motor!
