  • this's classic

  • Some of the best theme music ever.

  • RIP Great Muta. One of the all time greats.

  • @universalmanchild

    he's not dead o_O

  • Muta was great. I know he wrestled all over the world but WCW should have totally put this guy over BIG!

  • It's amazing how far his legend has risen after he made his transition to Muta. He would have had a great career without the gimmick, even though it gave him instant recognition.

Be honest, we've all done the posion mist with kool-aid at last once.

  • the great muta would beat anybody wwe has to offer in his prime!

  • I'm sure this bad guy comes from hell, nobody can beat him.

    His name is Great Muta.

  • Thank you for this clip. I'm a big great muta fan!

  • fivemagics4 doesn't know what he is talking about

  • Anyone have any ideas as to where or how he conceals his mist to use several times in a match, were doing a Halloween "gimmick infringement" show this month and I decided to pay tribute to Muta, Im working on the mist itself but need to figure out how I can sneak in at least one for the finish since Im using one for the entrance

  • Great athlete.

  • @ 1:45 10 out of 10 on the Muta scale. (if you don't know what that is then your a dumbass)

  • @mr8ballwilliams

    Moron.

  • @mr8ballwilliams wow the future ballarina calling someone a fag. pot, meet kettle

  • The Great Muta has the greatest elbow drop better than the Rock people's elbow @ 1:27 & 1:31

  • great muta is the man!!

  • The guy is just one of a kind.

  • I need to learn how to spray mist like Muta does. I know what the mist is made of, but i don't know how to spray it like he does.

  • Muta for WWE HOF 2010

  • What is really more amazing is that Muta is like 6'4" and weighs about 230-240

  • I like to say MUTA!

    XD!

  • Great video,great music,great wrestler,¡¡¡¡Great Muta!!!!

  • you gotta love that flashing elbow

  • the GREAT MUTA ,,prise muta bloosom ::MUTA FOREVER the BEST after NO BODY!!! WHAT!! WhaT?? I SAID THE BEST ever ,,what????? after the lost when i was bitchin and clening my face from mist i decided to quit ,,MUTA FOREVER!!!

  • Awesome tribute. Muta was great. Especiallyin the feuds with Sting and Flair. Muta was one of the best foriegn wreslters of all-time. He would give you his best every night. That's Mutoh...

  • Awesome theme.

  • amesome wrestler. should be a LEGEND in wwe.

  • muta is the kind of thing thats missing in wwe

  • I saw The Great Muta live about 20 years ago. I was so excited to see him but was disappointed because he didn't do any of his awesome flying moves and Lex Lugar (I think-it was a 6 man tag match) kicked him in the balls like 3 times.

  • the Great Muta is quite awesome, however I find he is very reminiscent of another Japanese superstar from the 70's, The Great Kabuki. he was the guy who concieved the 'Green Mist".

  • The storyline is that Muta is Kabuki's son. It was like passing the baton. They wrestled each other too.

  • really? that's kinda cool. thanks for the info.

  • I love the parts where he owns Hogan (whom I strongly dislike)

  • The Shining Wizard is my favorite all-time move.

  • the Great Muta isnt behind anyone

  • That's debatable.

  • imo only kenta kobashi is above him

  • Muta is a walking Masterpiece of art on that canvas in the ring or outside of the ring. Carries himself a like a true professional who is serious about what he does, and you can tell because of the intensity and emotion he brings in every match. He will always be The Great Muta no matter what. I'm saying this because every since the day I discovered Muta, he's given me nothing but great wrestling, everytime. Not something I can say about everyone in the business. He makes me proud to be a fan!

  • I can totally agree with your statement. I discovered Muta and Chono when I was living on Guam and use to watch all the Japanese wrestling on this Japanese Channel , which was channel 12. Everything on Guam came a week late. TV programming wise. I remember watching Big Van Vader, Masachiro Chono and The Great Muta. Chono has a way better STF!

  • Just like Ricky Steamboat used to HaHA!

  • 100% agreed. I saw how he was treated in WCW when I was younger and even then couldn't see how they wasted so much talent and hard work. Having seen recently his work in Japan, I know this man gives his all.

One thing a lot of people do not notice is how he makes sure to provide fan photo-ops both in the ring and when he takes his time going to and from the dressing room.

I cannot fairly say he is or isn't the best, but I, personally, very much enjoy his work.

  • @daprowres95 i agree

  • Where can I find this music at? Anyone? I love his theme song.

  • totaly awesome movie 5/5

    Muta 4 ever!!

best wrestler that has ever stepped a foot on this planet!!

    long live the great muta!!!

  • A great wrestler and a great athlete.

He is great, The Great Muta...

  • MUUUUUTAAAAAHHHHH~!

    Muta=GOD

  • His name says it all. Definitely one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Is that move he does at 0:37 the Space Rolling Elbow? Looks cool the way he does it.

  • THE GREAT MUTA IS THE BEST

  • The GRRRRRREAAAAAAAAAT MUUUUUUUUUUTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

  • better than all the american wrestlers

  • Nah. Rey Mysterio Jr. Come on now!

  • Misterio is a fantastic wrestler, but you really can't compare the two, as they both wrestled totally different styles and gimmicks.

  • mysterio is a great high flyer he was awesome at the ecw... but he never was on the level that muta is or was.. muta is just the best wrestler that has ever set a foot on this planet!!! hes like the zidane of wrestling!!

  • in my list of top ten wrestlers of all time. bret hart, chris benoit, curt henning....

  • One of the greatest wrestlers of all time

  • Yeah it's not the STF. I know what that is. In this one he was back to back with the guy on his face and he did an arch and reached back and pulled the guys chin up. Like and STF but doing and arch. The STF was a cool move too but i think this had a different name.

  • It's a hold that he innovated witch is actually called "Muta Lock". He also innovated "Flashing Elbow" and also later on in his career "Shinning Wizard" and the "Dragon Screw neckwhip".

  • Man, what was that move where he layed the guy out face down, tied up his legs with his one, and then arched back and pulled his chin up towards the roof? That was awesome. I don't see it on any of the videos. I thought that THAT was the indian death lock.

  • It's called the STF

  • It's called the Muta Lock!

  • no shinny wizard.

  • rikidozan v muta v kobashi v misawa v inoki v liger v tigermask1v wild peguses v black tiger eliminaton match i would pay a fuck of a lot of money to see that match

  • I think Muta holds them in his tights.

  • I know the "mist" was a gimmick given to Asian wrestlers, but how were they able to take bumps and still spit out the mist?? I could have sworn that Muta sprayed out 2 different color mists during a match. Did those guys put some sort of liquid capsules in their mouth during matches?

I assume the same gimmick used to produce mist is used to provide "blood" for wrestlers who are now getting "choked out" by the Undertaker.

  • Great Muta Concerto.

  • Damn this theme gives me chills. great tribute. Muta is just great all around, workrate, ring tactics, ring attire, music.

  • One of the greatest Japanese wrestlers of all time, what's even more amazing is he's still wrestling.

  • dennisbergkamp17 you are absolutly right, Muta was not only one of the greatest oriental wrestlers of all time but one of the best NWA/WCW wrestlers of all time. He's a very strange character, but his fluid and strange style of wrestling, was one of the best styles in the annals of pro wrestling. Him vs. Ric Flair for the NWA World's Heavyweight Championship, was one of my favorite matches of all time.

  • watching muta high=godsend

  • Muta is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Ever. End of story.

  • muta and rvd would be awesome, did he ever fight senshi or anyone in the xdivision?

  • I know he tagged with Low ki before in japan

  • verygood!!

    greatmuta!!muta!muta!

  • Muta vs. RVD = Dream match

  • gooooood!!!!!!!

  • that was pretty cool when they sprayed the red and green mist at eachother

  • I prefer Muta without the facepaint as Keiji Muto(h) actually. I loved a good amount of his matches in 2001

Here are some of my favorite Muto matches:

2001 G1 Climax Final vs Nagata.

2001 Triple Crown defense vs Steve Williams.

2001 First Triple Crown Win vs Tenryu

2001 Real World Tag League Win w/ Taiyo Kea vs Toshiaki Kawada & Mitsuya Nagai

  • out of all the Great Muta tributes and themes ur's rocks man!!!

  • He always had the best ring entrance in NJPW and in NWA. He was well known for his moonsault but he was not the first to do it.However, The Rock did take his Peoples Elbow from the Flashing Elbow witch Muta invented. And Triple H sprays mist out off his mouth like Muta but out of a water bottle, instead of that unknown red or green substance.

  • Don't forget, he also invented the inverted stf and that Tajiri (basically)stloe his gimmick

  • I am Muta fan, but I gotta say you have some pretty valid points. I have always thought of Muta as the Japanese Ric Flair in that every match was the exact same as the last, no matter who the opponent was. I am more a fan of his faces and reactions than I am his matches though.

  • First off Muta is the "Son" of the Great Kabuki so he didn't rip off anything that wasn't handed to him. Secondly Muta is credited with creating the Moonsault like it or not. But you have the nerve to say Leaping Lanny Poffo did the moonsault first? Nobody cares about Randy Savage's little brother ya moron! But a true Muta fans knows the difference between sports entertainment and "old school" Wrassling! And Muta's "Old School"!

  • lol only the uninformed 'credit' Muta with inventing the Moonsault but, the truth is, he clearly didn't. He's not even the first person to do one in the US. Look it up yourself to find that you're wrong. Sayama invented and regularly used the original version in '82 and the refined version (what most consider to be a Moonsault today) in 83. Oh and Kabuki was using the same gimmick before Keiji Mutoh even entered the NJPW dojo and became a pro wrestler....so yeah, he did rip him off. Big time.

  • actually he didnt rip him off,the character has always been portrayed as the son of great kabuki(it says it in evey background story and bioof Great Muta) and ya he did NOT invent the moonsault but he did popularize it in NJPW

  • Kabuki was doing the whole face paint, eloborate entrance attire, green mist schtick BEFORE Muta....so was Kendo Nagasaki actually (the one in the US not UK). Are you going to say that Muta's "character" is affliated with his as well? lol

  • no no no what im tring to say is that yes he stole it but the gimmick behind it is that he was his son he was not in real life he was interested in that form of presentation in the ring asked if he could be kabuki jr. they said no so then he asked if he could create his own character but use all of kabuki's styles and the mist and claim to be his son the said sure go for it. so gimmick wise yes there "characters" are related but not in any other sense

  • It's true that he uses a gimmick similar to the Great Kabuki, but in fairness, it was part of a storyline and Kabuki essentially passed the torch off to Muta anyway. I don't find him a lazy worker.. what defines being a lazy worker anyway? Not hopping around and jumping in and out of the ring like Mysterio? His style is slow and methodical on purpose, but with psychology that is second to none.

  • Muta>anybody in his era!

  • he totally owned hogan

  • KingofWrestlin and seize93 are right.

Muta used that move when Rock still was in kindergarten.

  • Dude Muta is an orignal plain and simple.

  • rofl, great muta was way before the rocks time

  • OMFG What an Owned!

By the way, Muta is the greatest performer in Puro.

  • the rock GOT it off muta

  • Ebutuoy1900, how old are you, 9? Muta has been doing that move since the 1980s!!!! Please don't post anything else on YouTube.

  • It's called a flashing elbow, he invented it in the 1980's dumbass

I hate WWE marks that think every company is copying them

  • u r a fucking moron plain and simple, probably think undertaker and kane are really brothers

  • you're a fucking retard ebutuoy. people like do not deserve to be on the internet. in fact, people like you should be locked up in an asylum for being so goddamned stupid.

  • aint that a bitch? when u look at videos with the rock in it the quality is good. Can't u tell by the way the video's quality isn't that clear that it was probably b4 the rocks time? so that means the rock got his peoples elbow from Muta. ever think about that?

  • thats because Rellik copys Muta

  • Muta can destroy Rellik any day & 3 times on Sunday.

  • And he has done just that more than once I do believe. Johnny Stamboli was Fake Muta in Japan, which is him in TNA as Rellik.

    Basically Johnny Stamboli=Rellik=Fake Muta< Muta

  • nice tribute vid

  • Hey JP, great job man, I love Muta/oh, thanks

  • I think this is my favorite Muta tribute...good job!

  • Muta is the greatest japanese wrestler and jushin thunder lyger as well

  • Leonhart the user AnimeJoe has a Dragon/Muta match.

  • Muta is so awesome man..a True Legend

  • 80's Muta Vs 96 Taker Dream Match

  • I'd actually like to see the current Muta with his mask and eerie entrance music against 96 Taker but Muta from any era would work I guess. Their styles in the ring would clash but both wrestlers are masters at psychology and would make for a good feud.

  • man great tribute his is a legend i think wwe should really put him and vader in the hall of fame

  • muta/kobashi/misawa vs jack eveans/rodrick strong/american dragon dream match

muta will live on for ever

  • seriously dude.. that match would suck

  • Well it would be a clash of styles because Muta, Kobashi and Misawa are all heavyweights. Evans, Strong and AD are all junior heavyweights. In Japan, they usually separate the Juniors from the Heavys.

  • they do that for a reason. kobashi and misawa have a very slow style that is made up of stiff hits and hard slams. mutoh is different. but yeah. strong and ad's styles could mesh with the aforementioned styles... 10 years ago! if that match happened now, strong might actually break someone's back. but lets say that doesnt happen. evans would fuck up the match regardless with his backyarder style. exchange evans for davey richards and now youre talking

  • mut kobiasi misawa in prime condition and i neglected to mention it would be a six way elimination match

  • this match might work if you changed kobashi to like the dynamite kid and make misawa in tiger mask days.. and of course replace jackevans with someone else

  • The Great Muta...the best moonsault

  • i wish there was a ultimo dragon vs great muta match that would be so awesome

  • What?! There hasn't been a Muta/Dragon match, yet? That's crazy!

  • 5 stars

  • great muta = a legend

  • the great muta has wrestled jushin thunder liger so manny times man i wish i was from japan because everything they do there !z super Vishez da only great high flyers i know !z teddy hart & his brother jack evans

  • damn this is the guy who started the muta scale.

  • awesome tribute one of the most athletic guys in history bar none

  • Muta=Wrestling GOD

    There is no debate.

  • Forget JBL; MUTA is the REAL WRESTLING GOD!

  • Damn right!

  • I loved this!!! Muta was my all time favorite

  • mine 2.... good tribute. One of my favorites was the Hogan vs. Muta.

  • This theme, which one is it? I heard alot of the Great Muta's and Keiji Mutoh theme's but which one is this one?

  • I think it's called Great Muta Concerto. It's one of his New Japan themes.

  • Oh thanks.

  • correct

  • What's with the Tribute, he's not dead, is he.

  • No he isn't, the person doesn't have to be dead in order to do a tribute...

  • I was just wondering, It seems that a lot of our great ones are leaving us.

  • mostly the poison mist was making muta famous. so then he started doing many high flying activity. so cool that he is still wrestling today

  • u know what would have been a dream match tiger mask vs muta

  • has jushin thunder liger vs great muta ever happened

  • YES!! A very classic bout

  • fn nice

  • All HAil MUta. He was is one of the great ones!!!

  • i love when a wrestler enters the ring like Muta does it at 1.50 Jeff Hardy used to do it in WWE(F at the time)but he doesen`t anymore...

  • he was one of the VERY FEW foreign wrestler who didn't get screwed in america and thats bc he was that talented and charismatic. top 5 of all-time, probably #2 behind flair

  • can some one upload the match with hulk!!!!!

  • He was beating The Stinger when WCW wasn't letting anyone go ove ron Sting. Much respect for Keji Muto

  • Now this is an awesome Muta Music Video. Great Muta is one of the best ever. Plain and simple.

  • muta was always my favorites. always shined in america

  • Amazing video. Great Muta is the best wrestler _ever_

    I mean, EVER damnit! =]

  • Muta is the man, this video is hot.

    -V-

  • for a moment he held both America and Japan's top championships...the IWGP heavyweight title and the NWA heavyweight title...at the same time...sweet!! muta's the man!!

  • Excellent video!

  • that's Great!!

  • Awesome! Thanks for making this video!!!

  • His old school matches with sting were classic

  • Best wrestler ever. Beleive it.

  • I hink waht makes this such a legandary video is becasuse the music is intense and it shows muta struggle 2 b the best and his legacy

  • Best wrestler ever!!!

  • Muta's time with the WCW (when it became serious threat to WWE) was the worst stuff ever, it nearly killed of Muta's presence and ability. Luckily WCW went under and Vince McMahon took control. Muta is the best in the world today.

  • Muta rules. Best part is mist vs. mist.

  • hi

    any vid Muta against Steamboat?

  • the best elbow in the history of wrestling...sorry Rock!

  • lol, true true

  • Nope.. not a fan of WCW Muta

  • What? No clips of him with ICP?

  • Great vid. I really prefered him as Muta than Mutoh, though Mutoh is still great.

  • great vid

  • Must...Have....his theme music. where can i get it?

  • madsplash.com............its one of the few good NJPW themes. Tha AJPW and NOAH ones tend to be better........

  • Forgot to thank you for the link!! Thanks!! :[
