Hey in the video it says that the GPU speed is "stock clock speed." This laptop's GPU is actually slightly under clocked, so when you say that do you mean you have over clocked it back to the normal speed, or stock speed for this computer?
i was wondering does this laptop get really hot cuz im planning to get this laptop pretty soon and i was wondering if this laptop will last a long time after hearing a lot of people saying asus have heat problems so im not really if its gonna die out quick and also wheres the best place to get this laptop? so if you can help me out that would be great thanx for yur time
vtecboi - I own the G51VX-A1 version, but I just sold it in order to upgrade to the G51J-A1 version (I wanted the Core i7M 920 instead of the Core 2 Quad Q9000). I can tell you that the laptop itself does not get hot, but the air coming out the vent on the left side is very hot (over 100F) when at idle and when gaming. The fan throttles automatically depending on the CPU and GPU load. This laptop can't be beat for the price - period. A similiarly equipped Alienware will cost almost $1800.
CyberPandaNinja, I wouldnt do that to this laptop because it runs VERY hot. Plus, the 720 comes with a feature that makes it run at 2.80 i believe. If you get this laptop, buy it with a better cooler compound like the IC diamond or the artic silver 5 to have a drop of 5-10C
I would say the AS5 option is worth it if you can spare the cash but I've never used IC Diamond so can't say if its better than AS5 or not. If we assume for a moment that IC Diamond does in fact cool better than AS5 then I would say, yes, its worth the cost.

im getting one with a i7 720 and its clocked at 1.6ghz do you think i would be able to overclock that to like 2ghz?

@CyberPandaNinja if the game uses 1 core it automatic over clocks it and you have software so yes you can over clock it to GHz
