  • Mr. Sokolowski: what makes it possible for a slang to make it into a dictionary? Does it have to endure beyond a certain time frame or become an ubiquitous part of general lexicon? Who determines that transition? You and your editors? Do words that are not in usage beyond a specific context not make it into the print version? Would words like "Wassup" or "Anon" or "OP" (original poster) make it into print...if so, when, how, why? Basically, when does a word become a word?

  • None of those are words. The only one I've ever heard is "Bromance" and that's only because of that stupid show. "Screen Grab"? Who says that instead of "Screenshot"?

  • Malvertising...? I have never heard of that. I thought that's just generally under the "malware" or "rogue advertisement" umbrella.
