  • No, it is not good to do so, however, as the instructions and the method demonstrate the lift to come out comes from "lifting" upward and out. When the chest is also engaged this prevents any strain onto the lower back. All beginners should be mindful of not extending too much in that region. It is actually the more flexible people who indeed have to be mindful of NOT sinking into the sacrum.

  • When she was unfolding, she put a great amount of pressure on her lower back, not good!

  • Its that normal? I'm not even going to try that doesn't look normal i would break myself

  • @Enchacner20208 It is not recommended that you begin with such a posture. In fact, this takes many, many years to master. It may also NOT be recommended for everyone. However, assuming that there are no knee issues or low back problems then it is a posture that many students and teachers of yoga gradually find themselves moving deeper into. Hope that helps...

  • She's gonna be the first person that say her ass!

  • Fucking awesome!!! keep it up!!!

  • i just love it thanks

  • Great backbends. ;-)

  • @KinoYoga Many thanks, Kino. Thanks for dropping by as well. Just trying to keep up with practice.....:-0

  • I just tried that today and I'm practically doing it !!

  • @ClickHereGOcheer Keep it up....it is all good and comes with practice.

  • o.O

i never knew humans can do that =|

you are one crazy (in a good way) flexible person!!

  • DANGIT!!! I CANT DO IT!

  • Very well done. I believe the video isn't titled correctly though. I was looking for pigeon and stumbled upon this. An unexpected treat. I enjoy seeing the results of hard work. Again, well done.

  • @shamwam888 Yes, you are right. I renamed it recently. There was one small glitch on the video..as I called it camel...but is known as the king pigeon pose. There are several variations to it....One of which that gets confused with a pose in the 2nd series of Ashtanga that is called the thunder-blot pose.

  • Total correcto! These video clips are meant to show what is possible with dedication, time, practice, devotion and on-going reflection. Certainly no one starts off at this level. And it is never suggested that one even try unless they have taken the proper steps and by studying under a qualified teacher. But don't injury yourself in the interval training either.

  • ...Yeah I hope I never get quite that into yoga lol. Good way to get injured if you don't warm up enough and I'd prefer to get injured doing interval training!

  • @whackowitch For sure you should not start off with this posture. Check out my new DVD that is the bedrock to the practices of backbending. This posture shown in the video is not to be taken lightly. It comes from years and years of a dedicated practice.

  • You can find other instructional backbends in the youtube series as well. And there is a DVD Backbending Series, which is especially on back bends (only a few of these are up on youtube as samples). For more infomation visit The Yoga Way's website.

Thanks for your constructive comment and compliment.

    Best,

    in yoga

    Heather

  • thank you for the step by step instruction - beautiful pose

  • That's cool. Thanks.

  • What the fuck? This looks like it will kill you. =D

  • @Sozialneutralist Since we all have to die sooner or later, this might not be a bad way to exit (ha). I actually told me my teacher once that I'd like to die doing a backbend. She made a horrible face and felt I ought to rethink it. During quiet meditation would work (after backbending),

Thanks for yr comment. However, since this is a public forum....maybe 'what the heck?' is better.

Mind you, the "F" word has a certain impact that NO other word in English can compare to.

  • @TheYogaWay

Ah, well, come on, this is Youtube and not all guys around here - including me - are nearly relaxed as you yoga people. But my comment was supposed to be nice, I really respect someone who can do something like this. Keep it up!

  • Nice made, and very usefull for me as a beginner ! Thanks !

  • @MrSpooky99 For more instructions on back bending, visit the school's website (re: The Yoga Way). The DVD - Advanced Practice Series contains this sample video and many more. Thanks for your post.

  • What a beautiful backbend. Awesome to watch.

  • @rolandsc Thank you for watching!
